Found this by chance while driving down town. We did the complete loop and people had put painted rocks along the path for others to keep or hide again. I moved all the ones it found and some ended up in some new places. This is a nice area and as said there are shops and restaurants along the walk of just up the stairs that go to the streets above. If you are downtown do the walk on a nice day See more..

    O'Fallon Park Upper Loop image
Independence Trail departs from the Pence Park lot on Myers Gulch Road at the Upper Part of O'Fallon Park. It is a short [less than 3 miles round trip], but steep, hike to the summit of Independence Mountain. The trailhead is easily accessible from both Route 74 and route 285. The trail climbs through dense forest that provides welcome shade on hot days. There are occasional openings with valley views. In the Summer of 2015, there is maintenance underway to improve the trail. The summit is a large rock outcropping. It possesses wonderful vistas to the East, North and West. The views are some of the best in the Front Range. The trail is little utilized and a good alternative to the nearby and crowded Mt Falcon area. There are also a handful of geocaches along the trail to spice up the hike. See more..
