One of the most unique forms of public transportation connects Mountain Village to Telluride offering stunning 360-degree views of the San Juan Mountains that extend as far away as Utah. The gondola, the first and only free public transportation of its kind in the United States opened in 1996 and was initially built to help improve air quality while expanding the ski area. It is entirely free to commuters and sightseers. Since then, it has become a popular attraction for residents and visitors alike, giving them a stunning ride that caps out at 10,540 feet above sea level. Approximately 3 million passenger rides annually – and safely – and more than 50 million passenger trips have been provided since opening day. The gondola operates roughly 287 days each year with routine maintenance scheduled during our shoulder season months. It takes about 12 minutes to get from the Town of Telluride to Mountain Village Village. It takes 3 minutes from Mountain Village Center to Market Plaza. See more..

I did not know you could gain a thousand extra feet from the 11,000+ mountain pass. We had 57 mph gusts on out visit, which made the ride up exciting. The cars did very will to keep from buffeted, but one car on the line looked like Mat D's Mars escape vehicle from his movie. We enjoyed the view but we were up there on the last day of the season. "Winter is coming". The visitor center is great and well worth the visit. See more..

This was pricey, since we intended to ride (up and down) one time only before leaving Vail - but it was well worth it. The views are incredible. We went on Thursday morning and there were no lines. They will slow down the gondola for people who need extra time boarding. If you're planning on visiting Vail just one time (as I was), I highly recommend spending the money to ride the gondola. See more..
  6. 5.0 Fort Collins Municipal Railway (69 reviews)
    - Beaufully restored streetcar trip back in time!

I lived in Fort Collins for 30 years before I finally took a ride on the Trolley. I now feel like I wasted 29 of those years. They have two cars, one that is one of the original 4 cars that came to Fort Collins in 1919, and have recently restored another one that ran here in the late 40's until the service ended in 1951. Both are beautifully restored and take you on a nearly 3 mile round trip ride from City Park to Old Town. Everyone waves at the trolley, and the conductor will tell you a bit about the history of the system (which was the best, and last) in Colorado, take pictures for you, and will make sure you have a great time. Price is only $2 for adults, $1 for kids and seniors. Take a ride on the trolley, you'll be glad you did! See more..

This is a great 1 hour tour of this town. Hits all the high spots. Lots historic places to see. Starts at the visitor center. Very interesting to see brick buildings that are still standing after over 100 years. Very nice historic town. I wouldn’t mind spending several weeks here in the summer. Of course, at this time not everything is open at this time. See more..
