Wish there was a better word than spectacular!!
This drive is just simply amazing. We found it for the first time last year (2016) and knew we wanted to drive it again this year. We drive from Mesa Verde NP through Mancos, Delores, and on up to Ridgeway. LIzard Head Pass and Trout Lake are postcard perfect. Snow covered mountains, aspens, rivers, lakes .......simple spectacular.

The drive between Cortez and Telluride is very scenic
This highway gains altitude as you near Rico and eventually Telluride. Many trails for biking and hiking are accessed off this highway. Trout lake is beautiful and offers fishing as well as the Dolores River. Watch for bald eagles along the river
