Hidden Gems Places To Visit in Wisconsin, United States
- 5.0 Green Meadows Petting Farm (97 reviews)
-Such a fun place for kids
Farms
I have been her a few times with my kids (5&8 year old girls) and they love it every time. The price seems a bit high at first (almost $14 per person regardless of age) but realize that there are no other fees. No having to pay for individual things once inside (other than a quarter for animal food). They allow you to carry in your own food and beverages. The place is big and even when it's crowded, it seems empty. Plenty of opportunity to interact with animals. Keep in mind that they are in fact animals. Chickens may peck and goats may jump up, don't panic :). Enjoy nature and let your kids have fun. A perfect way to spend a day. See more..
- 5.0 Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration Motherhouse (94 reviews)
-A Special Anniversary Mass
Religious Sites
We got married in this St. Rose Chapel 50 years ago (August 19, 1972) we and decided to return on our 50th anniversary for a Mass and a blessing by the priest (if he would be willing). I was an alumni who earned a nursing degree in l973. We were given contact information to the sister in charge of the liturgies. She spoke to the retired priest who offers Mass during the week and he was willing and happy to include us on this special day. We were filled with joy by the welcome extended to us by the sisters that live in this convent and by the priest who celebrated Mass that day. Plus he gave a beautiful sermon about love and commitment. And the sister that played the organ and piano also played a hymn on the harp. It penetrated our souls. After the Mass we were given a special tour of the chapel for Perpetual Adoration. See more..

- 5.0 Trollhaugen Outdoor Recreation (86 reviews)
-Great for tween boys
Wednesday: 9:30 AM - 9:00 PM Zipline & Aerial Adventure Parks
I'm not one to normally leave reviews - good or bad. However, I felt compelled to this time. We took my son here this weekend for his 13th birthday with 4 friends to do the aerial course. They thought it was great - it was definitely challenging and exciting for them. My son said it was the best birthday party he's ever had. (Mom win). The staff on site were incredibly helpful, patient and good-natured (and remember they were dealing with a pack of loud, wild boys). I had originally booked for 6 people, but the morning we were planning to go one boy injured himself and had to cancel at the last minute. I figured we would just eat the cost of that ticket, but they graciously gave me a refund on that unused ticket with no questions asked. I highly recommend. The boys all want to go back. See more..

VERY well done room. My group of 7 escaped from the kidnapping room. Good blend of puzzle difficulty and the group size panned out so that everyone felt as though they were able to contribute. Staff did a great job at explaining rules/safety features and had a great sense of humor. I especially liked the provided white board for working out clues, very helpful. We managed to escape with 5 minutes left on the clock so we definitely got out moneys worth. Definitely plan to check out more rooms in the future. See more..

Would definitely rent from them again! See more..
- 5.0 Schartner's Farm Market (66 reviews)
-Great roadside stop
Flea & Street Markets
We stopped by Schartners at the recommendation of one of the owners of Valmy Happy Hour. Their pies came highly recommended. Get there early. Our first visit was later in the day and a number of the fresh items were already gone or picked over. We picked up some local items and made a mental note to come back. On our next trip, on our way out of town, the parking lot was full and so was the bakery case. They had several cherry pies and I appreciate they came in various sizes. We also picked up some bratwurst too and love that they have cooler bags to keep our stuff fresh. The pie we picked up was a housewarming gift for a friend on our way home. We dug into it and it was delicious. This comes from someone that isn't a huge fan of pie. If these were available on the regular, I'd be in trouble. See more..

- 5.0 Pheasant Branch Creek Conservancy (52 reviews)
-Nature, wildlife, and tranquility - Pheasant Branch Conservancy
Spent 2-3 hours Parks • Hiking Trails
Over the years I’ve walked and biked the conservancy. The trails are good especially the northern portions which has bounced back after the flood of 2018. Some work to be done to make the other portions available to all. Can be used by those with special needs, if accompanied by another. Walk your dog, on a leash and clean up after them. Birds and deer can be spotted if your inclined, but tread quietly and nature ‘s amazing. Take a hike or picnic and explore what’s a hidden gem of Dane Co. See more..
- 5.0 Henning's Wisconsin Cheese (52 reviews)
-Fantastic place to visit
Wednesday: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM Speciality Museums
Stopped in on our visit to Manitowoc in the fall. What a fantastic selection to browse! We missed the cheese production, but the museum was very interesting to browse through. As we were traveling for a few more days, the staff offered to box up our selections, keep them in the cooler and mail them to us once we would be home. As she was helping to pack our order, Alex suggested her favorite way to eat the Blueberry Cobbler was in a grilled cheese sandwich with powdered sugar on top. We’ve had a chance to try it and it’s fantastic! We call it, “The Alex Special!” Even though we’re in Michigan, our specialty cheeses will now come from Henning’s! Well done! See more..

This was a perfect stop to stretch our family's legs during a long road trip. This park is conveniently located just off of the expressway and offers lots of green space and play structures for the little ones to burn off energy. The rubber surface was nice for added padding, but held the heat more so than a woodchip would (It was in the 90's when we visited). Overall, a great stop and would suggest it for anymore in the area, or just passing through like we were. See more..

- 5.0 Gibraltar Rock State Natural Area (48 reviews)
-Worth the Effort
Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails
Hiking to the top of this dolomite-capped bluff is best in the fall when the leaves are bright yellow, the insects are less bothersome, and the air is cool and stimulating. I hiked the old road from the parking lot which is very forgiving underfoot but quite a steady, though not overly strenuous, climb. Once on top, on what was a very crowded weekday, the view was spectacular to the north and south. The fall colors were beginning to pop in the Wisconsin River Valley that stretched below. Care must be taken on the summit because there are no guard rails and the edge is not for those with a fear of heights. Children need to be watched carefully. The recommended loop is to take the Ice Age Trail up and the former auto road down. I did the opposite but in the future would take the recommended route. Closed during the height of the pandemic it is a joy to have this remarkable natural wonder opened again. See more..
- 5.0 Belfry Theater (48 reviews)
-A music lovers paradise
Theaters
Have been here a number of times with our dinner club. We just saw The Buckinghams. It was a spectacular concert. This is a hidden wonder. It is a smaller theatre, with comfortable chairs. The people are so friendly. During intermission, cookies and water are served for a donation. They recently added a wine bar. They usually have a meet and greet after the show, and everyone is offered a Dove ice cream bar on the way out. This is entertainment I highly recommend. See more..

Thanks, too, to Arcadia for taking care to keep their customers and employees safe during the pandemic! Arcadia follows all Covid-19 guidelines, and they even have picnic tables outside for enjoying coffee and conversation on those sunny fall days. See more..
- 5.0 Kosir's Rapids Rafts (46 reviews)
-Another great rafting trip!
River Rafting & Tubing
6 of us in the group ranging from ages 9-67, including teens ages 14&17. We were originally scheduled to do the Peshtigo but due to low water levels, Nick suggested doing the Menominee. Turned out great!! Jake was our guide and was excellent in all respects-engaging, knowledgeable, skillful and fun. I was concerned about our 9 year old but Jake had him kneel in the front of the raft during the strongest rapids and he loved it. It was the first trip for many of them and they loved it. “Nature’s waterpark” and so much more valuable for kids to experience it. And as an added bonus, we drove back to Silver Cliff and ate at Kosir’s bar/grill. Terrific. And our bartender? None other than Jake again. See more..

-Great for a rainy day or any day!
Spent < 1 hour Distilleries
This was a really neat place to stop, due to the fact that you can see the distillery, while drinking and taking in cozy the decor; which was on point for the Northwoods. I recommend doing a tasting of 5 of the liquors and then picking a drink with that liquor. The bourbon was phenomenal, but it wasn’t available to purchase because it’s so popular. Would definitely visit again, for great spirits & conversation. See more..

- 5.0 Hinchley's Dairy Farm Tours (42 reviews)
-Amazing Tour!
Farms
We recently went for our 2nd tour at Hinchley's. Our first was a few years ago before they got their robotic milking system and we thought the tour was excellent. Upon our return, it was even better! Tina is so incredibly knowledgable and knows how to explain agriculture, biology, etc... to kids in such a relatable and engaging way. Our kids loved the tour, loved seeing how technology and the milking robots were helping farmers, and obviously loved seeing the animals. It's so important for our kids to understand where their food comes from and how much work it takes to be a farmer, and particularly a dairy farmer. Can't say enough good things about Hinchley's and their tour! See more..
