  1. 4.0 MagiQuest (304 reviews)
    - Fun physical and mental activity

    MagiQuest image
This was the perfect winter experience for a three generation outing with a family that ranged in age from 12 to 69. We were given 2 hours of time (you can earn some more time) to complete as many quests as we could. These quests involved having to traipse back and forth between many imaginatively and artistically decorated zones arranged over three floors of the building to check out particular details. There were many secret doors and arrangements to delight the eye. We divided into two teams— 5 guys and four gals. The women completed more quests, but they discovered some cheat codes! The guys got at least 8,000 steps, and the gals got over 12,000 steps. It was a very fun way to rouse ourselves from our winter torpor. See more..

    Lakefront Park image
We stopped here on a couples trip. This park is a quick stop off of I 94 and is a great place to go for a quick walk if you are driving. Unfortunately most of the parking near the park is meter parking and there are not many options for free parking. The pier walkway out to the beach is amazing and there are porta potties at the end of the walk which was nice. The views on the pier are amazing. I would highly recommend this place for a quick stop! See more..

  5. 5.0 CAMDEN Playground (50 reviews)
    - Stretching our legs

    CAMDEN Playground image
This was a perfect stop to stretch our family's legs during a long road trip. This park is conveniently located just off of the expressway and offers lots of green space and play structures for the little ones to burn off energy. The rubber surface was nice for added padding, but held the heat more so than a woodchip would (It was in the 90's when we visited). Overall, a great stop and would suggest it for anymore in the area, or just passing through like we were. See more..

    - Complete Your Pilgrimage to Lake Tomahawk for Snowshoe Softball!
    Spent 1-2 hours Playgrounds
    Snowshoe Baseball image
No trip to the greater Minocqua/Woodruff area is complete without a pilgrimage to Lake Tomahawk for snowshoe softball. Local organizations like Veteran's groups, fire departments, etc host burgers and brats for pre-game dinner. The cookout begins at 530pm on Mondays during the summer months, with the snowshoe softball beginning at 730pm. My wife, parents, and I enjoyed brats, soda, and pie before the game started. The announcer is light-hearted, as are the players - nothing too serious, other than some serious fun. Definitely stop out and watch some guys hit, run bases, and field a larger soft softball while donning snow shoes! See more..

I walk this park at least twice a month. This area has two levels. On the top level is a community built playground. It is very popular with families and kids. Lots of options to wear out your kids an keep them happy while doing it. The bottom area runs along the Manitowoc River. Quiet and accessible for nature lovers and birders. Woods and wetlands and fishing along the river bank. Part of the Ice Age trail runs through the park. In the winter, it is popular with cross-country skiers and snowshoers. A nice picturesque place to spend some quiet time. Bring your binoculars. See more..

The highschool robotics team used the shelter for a fun get together for the mentors to meet the student's families. It was the perfect location for families with small children and the older kids were able to bring games and play outdoor games. They also have frisbee golf available, unfortunately that is not something I have had the opportunity to use yet. The rental is affordable with a refundable deposit and the bathrooms on site are flush toilets. We will definitely consider this park for personal shelter rentals in the future. See more..

A friend and I picked lunch up from a place in town and took it to this park to eat. Just as we pulled in, it started to rain. We found a bunch of pavilions with picnic tables and ran under one to eat. It was perfect. This is a great park and has multiple fields- including a baseball field. There is a water park but because of the pandemic it was closed. The lawns were lush and green and I would recommend for anyone to stop and enjoy this place. See more..

  35. 5.0 Prospect Park (2 reviews)
    - Wonderful view of the river valley!

    Prospect Park image
My husband and I like to go up here to walk and to look at the view. At the overlook, you can see the river valley all the way up to the smoke stack in the Stillwater/Oak Park Heights area; across the river; and all of downtown Hudson. There are benches to sit on so you can just admire the view. When we have been there, it was always busy with runners and walkers. Below, there is a garden and walking and picnic areas, and down a substantial stairway there are pavilions (for rent), a volleyball area, and a playground. We have seen a lot of people using this area too so those amenities are popular. We were there in the summer and the fall, and I have to say that seeing the fall colors was worth it. There is also the grave of Silas Snell, buried in 1847, near the lookout over the valley. He was one of the valley's earliest residents. This is a favorite place of ours to go. See more..

  40. 4.0 Wheaton Town Recreation Park (1 review)
    - Great for a Gathering
Spent 2-3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Parks • Playgrounds
Eau Claire and the surrounding area are very busy during the summer with all of the festivals going on. Many of the parks are crowded and/or have their pavilions reserved. We were lucky enough to have found Wheaton Town Recreation Park. Elk Mound is just outside Eau Claire and the short drive took us away from the crowds. The park was just behind the fire department which had actual bathrooms that we could use instead of port potties. A kitchen area with fridges and freezers was nice and the BBQs worked well. The covered pavilion was necessary since it rained for the first half of the day. There are ball courts, a baseball diamond and a young child's playground set that is well-maintained. A short hiking trail runs along the outer edge of the park. I'd go here again without hesitation. See more..
  41. 4.0 Bond Park (1 review)
    - Excellent Swimming, Lots of Parking
    Beaches • Parks • Playgrounds
    Bond Park image
Last time I visited Bond Park was more than forty years ago. Surprisingly, almost nothing has changed. The park has a small playground area and a few picnic tables, plus a paved parking lot with plenty of spaces. There is no admission fee. The main attraction here is the swimming beach on the Oconto River. A wooden boardwalk extends out into the water, and a large wooden raft in deep water beckons adept swimmers to come and play. There's also a boat ramp at one end of the park, where daily passes can be purchased for $5, and seasonal passes are $20. A small snack shop offers candy and drinks. Bring your lawn chairs and plan to spend an afternoon. See more..

    Grandview Park image
We walk around here all the time as there is a walking path that leads right to it from our neighborhood. So ta much to do at this park! There have been softball fields here for many, many years. Adult teams play in the evenings and they offer concessions during those games. The girls high school softball team plays here as does the high school boys baseball team. There was an addition of a huge playground and pavilion added around 12 years ago, with funding from local citizens. If you donated money you could have your name on a piece of fencing. I am proud to say we have multiple family member’s names on that fence surrounding the main play area! There are tunnels, swings, tires, and so many climbing areas. Such a fun place! In the past couple of years they added a dog park. Two fenced in areas- one for little dogs, and one for big. This park is loved by so many! See more..

This park is tucked away off the beaten path, but it's a nice little place to stop if you need a rest. There are two swings, two slides, and a small basketball court. You can eat at the one picnic table if you are needing a meal break, as well. The park is well maintained - just easy to miss. There's rarely anyone there, so stop by if you're looking for a small area to take a break! See more..

This is a great spot to bring a picnic lunch- as we did almost weekly (during the summer). There are bathroom facilities on property as well. See more..
  47. 3.0 Washington Park (1 review)
    - middle of town
Spent 1-2 hours Parks • Playgrounds
A one square block 3.7 acre park smack dab in the middle of downtown Manitowoc. There is a bandshell in the middle of the park, two basketball courts that are new and improved since last time I shot hoops there. There is also a public bathroom that is fairly well maintained. On any given day during the warm months (yeah, we have a few in Wisconsin) there will be various concerts and other musical events. I've been there when locals just get up on the stage and start playing. There is also the occasional craft market, where locals bring in some nice stuff. Not the biggest or wildest park in town; but a nice gathering place for the people of Manitowoc. Jenn's Java and the Get Reel movie house are just across Washington Street. See more..
