This was our first stop during our Door County vacation and the highlight of the trip! Ferry service was such a unique experience and worth every penny. Impressed with how efficient the service operated they were on time and thorough. For 4 adults and 2 kids cost was $99 round trip They have several ferry boats running so we didn’t have to wait long at all to load Coming back from Washington Island we waited about 10 mins to load They can get about 15-20 cars on depending on size our ferry had RV going over and Horse Trailer coming back that took several car spots but still little wait time Washington Island was wonderful as well spent about 6 hours there with several hours at Schoolhouse Beach We went straight to Schoolhouse Beach when we arrived around 11:30. We were able to get a great picnic table in shade and kids loved the beach Water was chilly but several were still swimming It was such a beautiful beach See more..

  3. 4.5 Merrimac Ferry (190 reviews)
    - You can make a whole experience of it

If you only take it for the experience, it is worth it. You'll be crossing in a few minutes; and there are options of what to do around it as well. Taking it in "your bubble" (your car) and crossing Lake Wisconsin in it sounds like the perfect attraction during COVID times. It's free and runs 24/7, but beware of the times it stops for a break; it's posted on its billboard and it's also in the website. Having ice cream after/before taking the ferry is a tradition here; and they have pretty good options! I would also recommend having lunch or dinner at Fish Tales Restaurant. It's pretty close to the ferry and it's fantastic. Dinner + ferry + ice cream = the perfect trifecta. See more..
  4. 4.5 Madeline Island Ferry Line (184 reviews)
    - Trust the Parking Attendants!

Who thought it could be this easy? Fast, efficient boarding, on-time service, and expert parking assistance (they really pack you on there!). But never fear - you can tell the staff is experienced! Taking a vehicle is not cheap; there is a fee for the vehicle as well as each person in it. However, it was well worth it for our trip to Madeline Island. If you are planning to go anywhere beyond the "downtown" a vehicle or scooter/bike rental on the Island is a must. See more..

Well worth a trip to this Cassville Ferry. We crossed the beautiful Mississippi River from Iowa, saw Eagles and abandoned barges, and a tunnel that runs under the town of Cassville. Nice deck hand gave us a tour talk. Traveled along the Wisconsin side of the river to cross at Prairie du Chien. Stopped at unique Glen Haven bar on the Mississippi River for a beer and homemade Pizza. Wonderful day. See more..
