  1. 4.5 Milwaukee RiverWalk (1.041 reviews)
    - Enjoyed an Afternoon Walk
    Historic Walking Areas
    Milwaukee RiverWalk image
After stuffing ourselves on lobster rolls we crossed over to the Riverwalk to see what it was all about. It was a great sunny and warm afternoon. We passed through a park that was undergoing the final construction touches and found it to be a very inviting start. The path along the river was very well maintained, clean and well signed. There were lots of benches to take a rest and soak up the views. If you were in your own boat (or kayaking through) then docks were also available for those wanting to get something to eat or shop. We did get to watch a sightseeing cruise boat go down the river and bridge after bridge had to be raised and lowered. I understand that all the bridges are operated remotely instead of a person at each bridge. My only nit pick (loss of one circle) was that the Riverwalk path was not continuous and we had to climb up and down stairs and cross streets. See more..

Self-guided 2.2 mile loop of Appleton's downtown and riverfront. The trail is marked by blue paw prints so it's super easy to follow. The fox head logo painted on the ground marks each of the 16 highlights found along the trail. Trail maps are available on-line and at Houdini Plaza. There is a scenic shortcut between site 7 and 13 but don't cheat yourself out of a single step of this lovely stroll. See more..
  5. 5.0 Historic Downtown Osceola (2 reviews)
    - Delightful place to wondering around
    Historic Walking Areas
Osceola’s Mainstreet buildings date from the 1880's when steamboats lined the river and fur traders, lumberjacks and early settlers built the core of downtown shopping, taverns and eateries. Downtown Osceola is a place where both locals and tourists still find this a sense of community, created by watching parades, meeting for dinner or drinks, and enjoying an outdoor concert or movie in the park. 6. 3.0 Germania History Walking Tour (1 review)
    - Not bad for a tiny village
    Historic Walking Areas
    Germania History Walking Tour image
This is called "walking tour" but I would actually recommend driving it, since there are no sidewalks or paths and one needs to walk on the road, and some distances are significant, like between stops #1 and #2. Plaques mark the sites of interest - 9 in all. This village is completely out of the way, out in the boondocks, and one needs to drive here on purpose, but if you're into history of small town Wisconsin - make sure to stop. See more..
  7. 4.0 Montello History Tour (1 review)
    - Wisconsin's largest tree plus other things
    Historic Walking Areas
    Montello History Tour image
Montello is kind of out of the way - not on Interstate, nor a major destination. However, if you happen to be in the area, and are interested in history, do take this tour. White at it, you may discover John Muir Nature and History tour (much bigger undertaking), or smaller Germania walking tour nearby. One of the highlights of this tour is Wisconsin's largest tree.
