This has a small museum and an associated collection of farm buildings (mostly) set in a quiet valley (coulee) that were built in the area in a style used by Norwegian settlers at end of 19th or beginning of 20th century and then moved to this site. A tour is available and worth waiting for the guide as it gave more insight into living there, how the farms and families grew and what crops they grew. There are several trails to walk the area and see the valley-forest interfaces, with typical wildflowers and wooded areas with streams running through. See more..
  10. 4.5 University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh (26 reviews)
    - EAA AirVenture 2017

    University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh image
We stayed here at the University of Wisconsin Gruenhagen Hall for a full week during the aviation festivities. We had an air conditioned room and we were very comfortable here. We slept in twin beds and had a refrigerator and microwave in our room. The dining hall was open but we found better choices dining at Big Apple Bagels for breakfast and Mahoney's for dinner. The Oshkosh community really caters to visitors and they add a bus route to and from the dorms all week long with accelerated and frequent service for $20 a week. This is WAY better than trying to rent a car and dealing with parking. The dorm bathrooms are spotlessly clean and segregated but the rooms and hallways are co-ed, so bring your pajamas or robe for the walk down the hallway! We would definitely stay here again! Our daughter got married at this facility and it was a perfect setting. The staff was excellent to deal with. They had suggestions on vendors to use were very accommodating and spelled out clearly what our options were. We used all of the facility including the old church (remember to turn the air on ahead of time) the bunk house and the meeting barn. Our caterer used the kitchen and felt it was of high quality. We used their local tent company for tent, tables and portable stage and that went very well. The scenery showing in the background is beautiful. The wedding theme was a circus theme and we had plenty of space to set up and used the meeting hall for the dance. A GREAT facility and staff. See more..
