4.5Acuity Flagpole(103 reviews) - Love their flag! Wednesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues
The flagpole and memorial can be visited at any time. Flag Facts: 70- by 140-foot flag is the world's largest free-flying American flag. Tallest flagpole in North America--nearly 100 feet taller than the Statue of Liberty. 400-foot flagpole weighs approximately 420,000 pounds. Over 500 gallons of paint cover the pole. 11-foot diameter at base tapers to 5 1/2-foot diameter at top. Three pendulum-style tuned mass dampers reduce movement and vibration. Designed to withstand a low temperature of -42 degrees Fahrenheit. The 9,800-square-foot flag, which weighs 340 pounds, is more than four times the size of the average U.S. home. Each star is nearly 3 feet across and each stripe is over 5 feet high. Acuity is proud to dedicate the Veterans memorial at the base to all who assure our freedom and to those that continue to serve. We owe our gratitude and thanks for their service and sacrifice. There are more than 750 inscribed pavers at the base of the pole that list the names of every Sheboygan County Veteran killed in the line of duty. A full list of names along with a map with the location of each can be found in a free handout at the base of the flagpole. The flag may be taken down temporarily during times of maintenance (please check our website) or severe weather. The flag will be lowered to half staff during official observances.See more..

4.5Pink Elephant(50 reviews) - Fun stop right off I-90 Monuments & Statues
We were on a cross country trip and needed destinations. How fun to stop (exit 126 off I-90) for a bit to stretch our legs and take photos with Pinkie the Elephant. My husband rolled his eyes; my adult kids back home thought it was a hoot. And it is a talking point for an adventure on our way to visit our niece. This is a 5 minute stop and you can get get gas and walk a bit right off the highway!See more..

We are a history-loving family, so this was an important stop for us. Our GPS and phone were giving us two different locations, but we found it. A little slice of history, just off the beaten track in Manitowoc. It doesn't take long, but I wouldn't miss this place.See more..

4.5Largest Penny(7 reviews) - Honoring A Fulfilled Mission! Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues
We found out about the largest penny in Woodruff WI when doing research for unique, unusual and quirky photo-ops in Wisconsin. The story behind this largest penny made this a must-see and now to also honor the mission, effort, and resolve to build a hospital from spare penny contribution. That sounds like America to me! Great job and thanks for making America even greater for everyone. We saw that people are still contributing, including us, on that day we visited.See more..

A newly installed bronze sculpture by R.T. “Skip” Wallen now overlooks Lake Michigan on Highway 42 midway between Manitowoc and Two Rivers. The sculpture honors the earliest inhabitants of the area and consists of two Native American men, one woman, and a birch bark canoe. It's an impressive sight. The sculpture is located just steps from a wayside which makes for easy parking. Because the sculpture is so new, additional work needs to be completed on the grounds which will definitely add to it's beauty.See more..
3.5Caddie Woodlawn Historical Park(3 reviews) - For those who love to imagine what life was like... Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues
Caddie Woodlawn is a young girl from the 1800s, who many people compare with Laura Ingalls. Adventurous, spirited, and full of stories, this site is all about her. The house she was raised in is here (moved from a different location), and there are some picnic areas, a bathroom, and a few old buildings on-site. I personally loved it, but I admit, I love this type of thing more than the two I was with so...the more you are with people who love Caddie Woodlawn stories and these types of experiences, the better. The one thing that I really would have appreciated finding is Chimney Bluff--the place mentioned in her stories. I was there about 25 years go but couldn't remember how to find it so I could climb up and take a look. Couldn't find details on the internet, either, as I believe it's private land now--so it makes sense. But other than that, a neat little stop without a doubt!See more..
Completed in 2015 this charming Devotional Chapel and Rosary Prayer Garden is open year round and free to all religions. It was built by retired Catholic Priest Father Bill O'Brien on rural property of his great grandparents. In fact, the cross inside the stone chapel was carved from their old homestead. The Chapel and grounds are located five miles east of Denmark, WI in the small town of Curran, WI. There are chair for rest and reflection both inside and outside the chapel. There is a portable bathroom on the property as well. As of yet, there is no sign advertising the chapel. It is located just west of Curran, WI on the north side County Road KB. Look for a tan painted fence. There is no admission cost but donations are gladly accepted. Hours may vary during inclement winter weather. Come enjoy a very peaceful place in the Wisconsin countryside. About two miles from the Carmelite Monastery.See more..

4.0Wisconsin Veterans Tribute(1 review) - The weapons of war on display Wednesday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues • Scenic Walking Areas
You can spot the Wisconsin Veterans Tribute from the I-29 and after a number of trips in the area, my wife and I decided to stop and see the memorial. A row of flags of all nations and a granite memorial mark the site. The location is also a gas stop and restaurant so it draws a lot of visitors. What is on display is a pre-World War II Japanese cannon, a M-60 tank, Bell AH-1 Cobra and a Naval gun.See more..
Very cool roadside attraction. Joe Stanke built this Moai statue in 1980. It stands in his lawn and is 14 foot tall. It was made to look like concrete but it is not. Many people have stopped to take photos with the Easter Island Head and Joe doesn’t mind as long as people don’t climb on him. Many of the people who take photos with the moai stick their finger up the statue’s nose. It is visible from the road if you don’t want to stop. Definitely very cool!See more..
4.0Chief Mexico, The Wampum(1 review) - Learn about a great man Spent < 1 hour Monuments & Statues
Chief Mexico, or The Wampum was a major historical figure in the history of Manitowoc County. He was the chief of three tribes in the area. He was considered a friend of the first settlers in the county; and represented the local Indians in treaty organizations with the whites (history will prove the treaties were not a good idea for the local tribes). This is one of those attractions that you seek out, read the inscription, look at the bronze plaque of this phenomenal man, and take a few pictures. It made me curious enough to Google the man to learn about him. The dedication of the monument, a six foot column was a big deal in 1909. 4000 people showed up to honor the great chief, their cheers could be heard for miles. Tribal members from the reservation in Shawano and other places attended the ceremony along with one of Mexico"s surviving sons. The monument is within a few feet of the actual burial spot. The site sits on a bluff which overlooks the Manitowoc River. If you're in the area and want to find a piece of history, this impressive tombstone/monument is worth the couple minutes to check it out.See more..
