Beautiful
This park is simply beautiful. My children love it. We enjoy the walks and the evening runs. There's something to do for everyone

Unique play area
Turtle Island was completely redone in recent years and it provides endless fun for young children. It is located across the walking bridge in Riverside Park next to the lagoon. It's a nicely fenced in area with only one entry/exit point. I have found some people don't adhere to (or bother to read) the rules posted at the entrance (like NO smoking allowed), but there are several picnic tables and benches throughout the play area to sit. Much of the grounds are covered with rubber or wood mulch and the large trees give sufficient shade. Unique play experiences include: -digging-for-dino-"bones" in the sand pit, -climbing up the lookout tower, -exploring the huge wooden multi-level maze-like structure, -running through the giant "log," -rolling down the turf-sided hill, and -wading through the waterway (which is operated seasonally by a pushing a button on one of the "rocks")

Scenic playground
This is one of our favorite places to take the grandkids when they visit. It is located along the scenic Rock River. It is very clean and kid friendly.
