As you stroll along this easy paved walk, you'll get stunning views of the ocean, and pass by rocky cliffs, tide pools, shallow beaches and also the Lobster Point Lighthouse. There are also plenty of stops along the way where you can rest and watch the sunset. It gets busy during summer, so visit during fall or spring to beat the crowds and heat. National Parks
    Acadia National Park image
I really appreciate visiting Acadia National Park during august 2022. We went to visit the Park sleeping in Camden, about 1h 30 by car, but less expensive thank sleeping inside the Park itself. I like Cadillac Mountain despite the fact that there were a lot of fog at the pick and not very good visibility. We went also for a easy trip in Jordon Pond (a beautiful lake) in the South East of the park of about 3 miles/5 km, I suggest to do this tour also with children, it is really easy and safe. The park costs 30$ per day with private car and ti visit Cadillac I suggest to book online with anticipation, it is 6$ per day See more..
  7. 5.0 Lulu Lobster Boat (2.235 reviews)
    - Good Time
    Boat Tours
    Lulu Lobster Boat image
What a great way to spend an afternoon in Bar Harbor. The 2 person crew was friendly, polite and super informative. The boat was pretty full but it felt roomy enough. The guide, Gaelyn, narrated throughout the excursion with unmatched enthusiasm. He is a retired teacher and it was obvious that he loves to teach and entertain. We learned in an interactive way about lobsters and the harbor. After the lobster hunting we road out to a lighthouse where we circumnavigated the little island it's on. There were two types of seals swimming and sunning. Tons of birds enjoyed the island and it's skies including two amazing bald eagles. Only SLIGHT possible negative .... Gaelyn really likes hamming it up with the kids. There were 5 kids on board and there was a LOT of time spent being silly with them. Seriously, how many ways can you put a lobster on a kid's head? If you're annoyed by weird kid stuff, this could be uncool for you. Haha! If you have kids, bring them! See more..
  8. 4.5 Ogunquit Beach (2.228 reviews)
    - What a beautiful Unique Beach!
    Beaches
    Ogunquit Beach image
Make sure to go at both Low and High Tides... 2 totally different experiences. My daughter and I went early morning and the sand was so wide, hardly anyone on the beach. Then went back at high tide and the river was full, everyone tubing and hardly any sand. It was crazy how it changed so much from the morning to afternoon. So fun. It is cold, but there are unexplained warm pockets. The only thing to know is that we went tubing from the river towards the ocean at high tide, and the life guards there told us to get out. At first, it scared us because we thought maybe there were sharks or something. But after we got out, he told us...that at high tide....they only let you go to a certain point so that you won't get swept out to sea and have problems getting back. Just something for everyone to be aware of. It is good they are watching and are keeping people safe. See more..

Even on a rainy day, the seascape of rocky/kelpy shore, a wide variety of vessels on the move or secured, and wooded islands is the equal of many available in the adjacent Acadia National Park. In the other direction, magnificent estates and gardens, maintained to a widely varying degree that only adds to their charm. The interpretive signs are also lovingly maintained little works of village art. Parking at a very reasonable price can be found; just follow the signage leading you off the main tourist thoroughfares. See more..

SK Tours Of Maine, LLC image
We just took the tour last week and it was excellent. Our guide Jamie was knowledgeable not only about King, his family and his works but also the Bangor area. We booked a private tour for 5 plus our St Bernard and the tour was roomy and comfortable for all of us. We were thrilled to learn that our dog "Cujo" was the first Cujo EVER to take the tour! I am a self-proclaimed SK expert and I learned a few things. My wife and kids also had a great time. Its a great tour for fans of the books, movies OR both. I am also interested in the history of Betts Bookstore....and as a bonus...Jamie's father was the previous owner....so I got extra history there as well! I only wish I would have booked another tour for later that day JUST to ask additional questions and see additional sites. We will definitely be back to do another tour in the future. A MUST for Constant Readers! See more..

A trip to Bar Harbor without doing this, is an incomplete trip, this was totally amazing. I would go twice, go at low tide , cross the harbor and hike up Bar Island, then come a few hours later at high tide and see what happend. Once you see both views you will be totally amazed Make sure you check tidal times otherwise you can get stuck and pay $150 to get rescued. Be aware while this is free (You need the Acadia Park Pass to go to Bar Island for a great view of Fisherman's Bay) you have to pay for parking nearby ($2 an hour) See more..

The Old Port's fishing piers, cobbled streets, and historic brick buildings will transport you back in time. But the energy of the area is anything but old. It has a buzzing food scene, especially at night when locals and tourists pack into its restaurants and bars. Don't leave without having a taste of the fresh seafood in the area. Grab the ultimate lobster roll along the waterfront's Commercial Street or snag a table at any of its amazing seafood restaurants. 24. 5.0 Ogunquit Playhouse (1.041 reviews)
    - Young Frankenstein, "outdoors" for a fun experience....
    Theaters
    Ogunquit Playhouse image
Wow, we saw "Young Frankenstein" at the "outdoor" tent at the Ogunquit Playhouse and were impressed with the venue and production. We've never sat inside, so can't compare, but it felt that they created a first rate theater experience under the tent. Lighting, sound and stage were excellent. We saw a matinee on a chilly afternoon, so I can see that it could get pretty cold for the evening performances. They leave the large doors open so there is plenty of airflow and masks are required. This was our first theater experience since the pandemic began, and we felt very comfortable. The production itself was a hoot, and even better than the movie. It was a musical, not my favorite genre, but this really worked, Talented performers, made for a fun and memorable evening. Do not hesitate!! See more..

    Maine State Sea Kayak image
Sam did a great job leading his first trip! He was very knowledgeable of the area, came prepared for any unexpected circumstances and did a great job keeping the group together and keeping people engaged. It was great to have Kyle as a bonus guide, he added humor and well seasoned knowledge of the area and really shared his passion with us. Shout out to Colby for not only driving the bus but driving a bus with a trailer attached to it - as someone who has sent a trailer over the edge of a ramp more than once, I was impressed. All in all I would highly recommend adding Maine State Sea Kayak onto your to-do list for your trip to Acadia, the staff are great, the views are wonderful, and the wildlife is hard to beat, one of the best kayak trips I’ve gone on with guides! This review is for an October stay. I cant imagine the summer crowds, as we are retired and enjoy the off season. We stayed at the Lafayette hotel group 3 different times. The beach right outside the door is perfect, the people minimal, our room and ocean view perfect! Be sure to eat at The Steak House. An amazing and critic worthy establishment and a lovely memorable dinner. Sunrises over the ocean here are simply brilliant, and the crisp fall days are spectacular. Wells Diner is a perfect breakfast spot, and the little adjoining gift shop is fun and reasonably priced. Perkins cove is not far, and a walking trail is the best memory accompanying a lobster roll and a blueberry soda. Many book stores, antique shops and fun things to see in this entire area. Each year we discover new beautiful spots to marvel over .Maine in fall is a true travel experience not to be overlooked. See more..

    Old Orchard Beach Pier image
I love the idea of this pier and from the beach it is kind of cool, although even from the outside it can clearly use a little bit of love (it doesn't really look like the main photo on this page any longer). But walking through the pier was a huge disappointment. It was dark and dingy and quite honestly, there's not much on it--a couple shops and food stalls, leading to the restaurant at the end. Maybe my expectations were too high, but it just felt dark and crowded and kind of a waste of time. We went in and got back out very quickly. See more..

    Eastern Promenade Trail image
We parked along the street on Eastern Promenade. There are large beautiful homes along this street facing the park. According to signs, the park has 68 acres (I think this includes the small section designated as Fort Allen Park) and the original design was done by the Olmsted Brothers. The large grassy expanse and trails are well kept, and quite a few people were out enjoying the sunny afternoon and it felt very safe. We saw people who appeared to be gathering for a small wedding. There are benches and various historical markers scattered throughout. There are great views of Casco Bay for watching boats go by. I can honestly say Casco Bay Lines crew really does go above & beyond. The classic Maine background is beautiful but you can't help but recognize the people behind the scenes. These folks work so hard everyday, moving freight & ensuring a great ride full of historical information. I ride the ferry twice a day, everyday through rain, fog or shine, I'm never disappointed & without a doubt always felt safe The thing that really sticks out the most is their sense of humor & kindness when they see fimiliar faces. I had promised my child I'd give Pig a big day out for an adventure of a life time Casco bay lines really helped achieve it today I truly couldn't ask for a better commute or a better crew 10 out of 10 pigs recommend See more..

    - Good food, good service

    DiMillo's Old Port Marina image
Did a walk in on a Wednesday at 6pm and was told it would be a 45 min to an hour wait. Less than 10 minutes later we were texted our table was ready. The service was prompt and professional and the food was spot on. The Lobster Mac & Cheese did not disappoint with a crazy amount of lobster and plenty available to take home for a second meal had we not been staying at a hotel. The Haddock was also spot on and very tasty. While some have said the restaurant is touristy it seems to reason anyplace downtown near the waterfront will have lots of tourists but the main measure should be was the food and service up to expectations, in this case it was.
