Young Frankenstein, "outdoors" for a fun experience....

Wow, we saw "Young Frankenstein" at the "outdoor" tent at the Ogunquit Playhouse and were impressed with the venue and production. We've never sat inside, so can't compare, but it felt that they created a first rate theater experience under the tent. Lighting, sound and stage were excellent. We saw a matinee on a chilly afternoon, so I can see that it could get pretty cold for the evening performances. They leave the large doors open so there is plenty of airflow and masks are required. This was our first theater experience since the pandemic began, and we felt very comfortable. The production itself was a hoot, and even better than the movie. It was a musical, not my favorite genre, but this really worked, Talented performers, made for a fun and memorable evening. Do not hesitate!!

    Our Yearly Treat!
Love, love, love this place! Have been to a number of shows over the years and all were wonderful. Saw Mystic Pizza in the pavilion and it was wonderful. We came prepared! They do tell you to bring cushions for the seats, they do tell you to be prepared for colder weather, they do tell you everything ahead of time. The cushions helped. The seats are far apart, so you sit in your own little space. You wear your mask when in motion, so you may take it off at your seat and enjoy the show. The people working there are so very nice and helpful. The parking is close, and might take a moment to get out, but that's fine. It really is a wonderful place to see a fantastic show and enjoy yourself during this crazy time. The pavilion is quite something. Everything is as it would be if it were inside. Great performance!

Dress very warmly if the play is in the tent
Check to see if your play will be held outside, well, in a tent and dress accordingly. Fortunately, the Playhouse sent an email to warn me I should dress warmly and bring a blanket. It was obvious some people did not get that message. It was easy to book online. However, upon scanning my ticket, it had been canceled. The staff were good enough to go to the box office and figure out I had been upgraded. Now, if they could send me an email about the seating and call me while I was waiting to enter, not sure why they couldn’t have emailed me the new ticket. Parking is done by if you are exiting to the north or south and you are parked bumper to bumper, door to door. A bit frustrating for those who exit first and have to wait for those in front of them to return to their car. Maybe that explained the free fir all upon exiting. It was indeed cold in the tent and the door flaps were not closed during the performance, allowing a breeze from the north to blow right through. Chairs were set in pairs with space to the next pair. They were not comfortable. But they were set to give everyone a good view of the stage. As for the play, the actors, singing and dancing were excellent.
