We stumbled upon the Johnson Hall Museum on our way through Wells/Kennebunk, and weren't we lucky. There is really no way to describe the vast collection of items in this amazing museum. To meet Mr. Johnson himself is enough of a delight. I can't imagine the reviewer who said that he was unfriendly. Quite the opposite. He was so wonderful that we came back the next day! He even showed us his favorite music box and sang along with it. Mr. Johnson has moved many homes to his property, so do not forget to wander around and look into all of these gems. There is an old filling station, a one room schoolhouse, a sleeping cabin, a shop....it goes on and on. He has been visited and featured by American Pickers, so his museum may now be more of a destination, but we literally found it by chance. Do not pass it by.See more..
2.5Auburn Mall(14 reviews) - Not much to see. Monday: 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Shopping Malls
I haven't been to this mall in years. It was eerie how few stores and people were in this mall. Not much to see here. See more..
2.5Lucinda's Day Spa(7 reviews) - Shame on you Lucinda! Spent 1-2 hours Spas
Booked a massage using a gift card - the massage was GREAT but when I went to check out they decided they couldn’t honor the $100 gift card I had because even tho it was purchased when Lucinda’s and Scarborough Spa were one and the same. Be transparent when a potential customer tells you up front that they have a gift card - tell them that you and Scarborough separated in the spring and that you will no longer honor those gift cards. I’m out $120 for a massage that was supposed to be a gift. Shame on you. Scammers.See more..

2.5Summit Adventures(5 reviews) - Unfortunate Outing Amusement & Theme Parks Had my nephew. Ge wanted to go there. The place was peopled by bored teens. Activities were overpriced, boring. Service: barely there, and only begrudgingly. Save your peace of mind and take your kid on a walk instead...See more..
2.5Saco Valley Shopping Center(4 reviews) - CONVENIENTLY-LOCATED SHOPPING CENTER WITH A RESTAURANT, A RENYS, & BANKS WITH ATM’S Shopping Malls This shopping center had easy access from the Maine Turnpike and US Route 1. It had several businesses. The main attractions for travelers were the well-rated Lucky Loggers Landing Restaurant, Key Bank and TD Bank for ATM’s, a Shaw’s Supermarket with an Osco Pharmacy, Mail Boxes Etc./UPS Store to mail stuff home, and Renys, the Maine-based department store that bills itself as “A Maine Adventure.” On my most-recent visit, I had a very good breakfast at Lucky Loggers Landing Restaurant and shopped at Renys. Based on its convenient location, multiple banking choices, and the quality of the restaurant and Renys, I rate Saco Valley Shopping Center at 4.0. I recommend a stop there. 2.5Club 302(3 reviews) - Another chance Bars & Clubs Their food has improved along with the hospitality. I don't know if it was due to going on a Friday night. However, the food had improved an our service was great. I was happy that they try to keep the music down to allow for conversation in the dining and billiards area.See more..

2.5Fels-Grove Farm Preserve(2 reviews) - Pleasant Old Farm Preserve Near Casco Bay Spent 1-2 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas
This precious 55-acre (22.3 ha) plot of green space is near the power lines that transect the town. It had a kiosk but no other amenities. With one exception, the 1.2 miles (1.93 km) of signed and mostly mowed-grass trails were dedicated to walkers, most with dogs in tow. Parking was in a small gravel lot. I most liked the undisturbed open spaces. I least liked all the dogs off their leashes.See more..
2.5Pine Grove Preserve(2 reviews) - War Memorials and Woodlands on the King's HIghway Spent 1-2 hours Biking Trails • Hiking Trails • Forests
This 27-acre (10.9 ha) pine woods preserve had a 0.75-mile (1.2 km) perimeter trail and several other short trails. Trails were dirt, grass, pine needles, and other natural surfaces. The preserve was on the former King's HIghway (now ME 88) across from Pine Grove Cemetery and the Episcopal Church of St. Mary the Virgin. It had three war memorials near the state highway, some easier to find than others. It also had a 0.5-mile (0.8 km) nature walk with 12 helpful interpretive stations. Part of the Preserve may have been the historic site of the former Fort New Casco (1700-1716), which was used briefly as a trading post with the Abenaki. Free parking was in a dirt turnaround northeast of the former Pine Grove School. We most liked the wildflowers we found near some of the trails; we least liked the lack of historical information.See more..
2.0Northeast Charter(1 review) - Uncomfortable tour Bus Services It appears as though Royal Caribbean has a contract with this company as we noticed many Northeast tour buses at each port stop. We took the Camden by land and sea tour and our tour guide was Paul Chapman and the driver was named Reno. Paul could not have made this tour more uncomfortable for us by continually chastising the driver. We should have been tipped off immediately when we saw the sign in the bus stating the driver and tour guide DO NOT share tips. The driver was sweet and he certainly did not need to be micromanaged by Paul. Paul is a retired school teacher and he apparently continues to speak to others in a scolding, condescending manner.See more..
2.0Broad Cove Reserve(1 review) - Exclusively For Residents Only Beaches This 22-acre (8.9 ha) preserve includes 11 acres (4.5 ha) of beachfront. It is open dawn to dusk. It allows no onsite non-resident parking and there’s nowhere nearby that allows public parking. It also prohibits dogs. The preserve has a seasonal ranger, restroom and changing facilities, loop trails, and a pier. Parking was limited and strictly enforced; I came briefly before ranger’s hours to check it out. I liked all that I found here, except that use, quite understandably, was limited to town residents.See more..
After doing some research at the library, I went to the nearby Penny Woods Recreational Trail. On the first drive up Sullivan Street, I missed the access point. On the second trip, I found it. It was down a steep embankment. There was a sign and weather-worn board to mark it. Since it was close to the library, I went back and parked there. Getting down the embankment wasn’t easy – even with a walking stick. The trail wasn’t very wide. It also wasn’t groomed. Conditions weren’t very good. I didn’t go very far into the woods from that access point. Then, on another day, after researching the terminus of the trail. I drove to Berwick again to get a look at the other end of the trail which was on Dobson Road. It was in Dobson Woods, a residential subdivision. That other access point proved to be somewhat better than the one on Sullivan Street. The trail was a little wider. It was far from a cleared, groomed trail. It had uneven terrain, a lot of small fallen branches and twigs, and exposed roots - many hidden by a lot of wet autumn leaves that had become clumped from people slipping a bit on them as they navigated the hazards underfoot. I decided not to try to go all the way in there just to see a bog that would be swampy after two days of heavy rains. On the plus side, there were some attractive things to see that included some vibrant, colorful foliage, some ferns, and a large bush with red berries which I believed to be winterberries as those are known to grow in and near swamps and wetlands. I rate Penny Woods Recreational Trail at 3.0 and cannot enthusiastically recommend a visit, especially when there are so many other hiking and trekking choices in the area within a 5-mile radius that have tended trails.
