The Project Puffin Visitor Center celebrates the success of Project Puffin in bringing puffins and other rare Maine seabirds back to historic nesting islands. Here the public can view puffins and other seabirds in real time through a remarkable video system that delivers live video to the Center. If time permits, a 20 minute documentary film can be viewed which educates visitors about the success and challenges faced by Audubon and its conservation partners to restore and protect the seabirds on Maine islands. Exhibits such as a puffin burrow and an exact replica of a observation "hide" are ways kids can learn about the success of the project. Informed staff can answer questions about puffin watching trips. Come and enjoy the many fun, educational, and interactive exhibits, programs, and activities for people of all ages.See more..
This visitor center is big, welcoming, and conveniently organized with a bounty of tourist information for every region of the remarkable state of Maine. That is, while there are of course helpful statewide guides and maps, the selection truly allows you to zero in on your current areas of interest, both location and activity-wise. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable, the restrooms are clean, and vending options are abundant. I cannot recall a more impressively run visitor center in the other 49 states.See more..

5.0Maine Visitor Information Center(2 reviews) - A Treasure Trove of Insights About Visiting Maine Monday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Visitor Centers Stop here if you prefer physical travel publications that you can read at will anywhere. I found a new Maine highway map, regional magazines, hotel/motel brochures, and much more. One of the staff explained that there wasn’t much call for tourist materials about the Lewiston-Auburn area; I’d found only one Bates College brochure about it. She did point me to lots of material about everywhere else in Maine. The center had clean restrooms, flat walkways, paved parking, and a vending area. It also had all the usual pandemic protocols in place. I appreciated all that I found here; I disliked nothing.See more..

5.0Maine State Visitor Information Center - Fryeburg(1 review) - A Welcoming Place for Discovering Maine Monday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Visitor Centers This was the best place around to get the scoop on Maine’s regional attractions. It had maps and brochures for all kinds of interests and destinations. A volunteer visitors’ guide was courteous, helpful, and accommodating with my questions about local historical sites. Restrooms were sparkling clean. Found on US 302 near the New Hampshire state line, ample parking was in a paved lot. I appreciated all that I found here; I disliked nothing.See more..
