We had a lovely, relaxing long weekend in a yurt. There was a skylight and one night there was a lightening storm and we lay on the king size bed enjoying the view. Our canoe trip on the lake was so peaceful - we happened to be there at a time where it was just us and the guide. Our hike to the waterfalls was lovely. We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were very helpful and courteous. I don't want to spoil anything, but we loved the little surprise treats we got. Almost forgot - we saw 3 moose from the roadside!See more..

Booked a Kennebec River raft trip and two nights at their River Cottage as a high school graduation celebration for my 18 year old son, 5 of his friends, my oldest son and me. What an amazing time. The three generation of owners and their staff were incredibly upbeat, helpful and attentive; kudos to Chuck, Sharyn, Rob, Carrie and Courtney! The accommodations were perfect for our needs, with comfortable beds/linens for all of us, a modest living room with Direct TV access (so we could watch the NBA Finals) and TWO bathrooms with stand up showers . Our river guide Jim was THE BEST! He connected well with the boys and did a superb job navigating the river and ensuing lots of thrills. As best I could tell, he nailed every rapid, hole and wet zone to ensure we all got soaked (which we loved). The smiling faces in the photos were evidence of that. And then he manned the grill for the awesome steak dinner afterwards (at which we all got seconds). The staff also had great suggestions for other activities given our time there - we thoroughly enjoyed Moxie Falls & swimming at the base of the falls and moose hunting north through the border town of Jackman up to the Canadian border and back. So, if not obvious, I would highly recommend Crabapple Whitewater!See more..

We did Penobscot River rafting with Northern Outdoors. Our group enjoyed it a lot. The river has grade 5 rapids and there is a 10 foot fall along the river that is very unique. The service from Northern Outdoors were great, the lunch and coffee was tasty and hot. Our raft guide Eileen did a great job instructing us and making sure we all are having fun. Despite being a rainy day they did a great job in making sure everyone is having a great time and adventure during the trip. One advice I can give is to have good instructions about when the trip starts in the morning and when is the reporting time. There are multiple companies doing the rafting business from the same base camp. But overall a five start experience.See more..
Excellent company. They serve a steak/chicken/fish/veggie burger choice BBQ after rafting that is really good! This is a great company for Youth Groups because they have various tent style bunk houses to stay in for a very reasonable price. Our inexperienced group of teen girls LOVED this trip.See more..
I've always wanted to go white water rafting and thought that if I didn't go in the Springtime then the experience would be a let down. Not so as we hit some class 5 Rapids and many other challenging/ thrilling rapids on this gorgeous wild river that Mt. Katahdin presides over. Our guide, Shawn, was both historically informative and artistically entertaining as we took the all day trip down the waterway. I had zero experience, and recently had a back injury. Shawn was great to encourage me and also have me carry paddles instead of lugging the raft. We had a sumptuous wood fire cooked luncheon along the way with the other boat groups. One of the many highlights was stopping at a beach and walking up to natural rock waterfalls and jumping in to be pulled down the falls! It was optional, of course. Swimming was always encouraged during the more tranquil parts of the journey. We saw river otters, eagles and many other natural delights of the landscape. I will do this trip again for sure!See more..

Our families had a wonderful time on the Androscoggin River with canoes and kayaks from Bethel Outdoors. We did a 10 mile trip down the river with a shuttle to Gilead and got the trip off to an unforgettable start with the rope swing. The equipment was in good shape, the staff were extremely helpful, knowledgeable and friendly and the safety instructions clear. I highly recommend this to anyone wishing to spend a day in the great outdoors!See more..

The Kennebec was wild and beautiful on a somewhat smokey and cloudy but rain free Tuesday. The smoke was from the western wildfires. Our guides Oliver and Dylan were super fun and competent. Oliver, the guide on our boat , had some great rafting adventure stories and knowledge of the river’s history. My friend’s 16 year old daughter recommended Moxie because she had enjoyed her camp outing with them just a few weeks previously. My friend had never been white water rafting but had a great time in some pretty gnarly white water as we crashed through Magic Falls and Big Momma. By the end she was having fun floating beside the raft. The river is beautiful as is the wildlife and forest surrounding it. We feel like we have we’ve made some new friends and a guide company that we can return to and recommend to friends. Tuesday is a great day to go as sometimes it is a quieter day there.See more..
My wife and I, along with four friends, booked the "The Ultimate Adventure", which runs through the more challenging parts of the river twice. My wife and I had rafted two other places. Our friends had not. We all loved it. We went through two different class V rapids (twice), and managed not to lose anyone. We even were given the opportunity to "surf" the last rapid. Ben and Simon were excellent guides, and very entertaining. Also, I would be remiss not to mention the lunch afterward. A lovely steak, a veritable mountain of excellent rice, and, of course, the pasta salad. ;-) Ben and Simon, if you read this, we miss you guys! Thanks for a very enjoyable experience!See more..

We had a great time on the river, Steve guided us and advised us on what to expect. The tubes were good quality and comfortable, hardly felt any bumps. The river provided some splashes and some fun but we never felt like we would fall out of the tube. The Kennebec is beautiful on a sunny day, our day was somewhat overcast but we still enjoyed it, and Steve and Tammy were great with the reservation, communication and narration. If you want to have a little bit more excitement than a leisurely tube ride down the river than the Bubble Trip is the way to go!See more..
Camped here with a paddling club and had a great weekend. Clean, well-kept, affordable. My campsite next to the river was great; friends who stayed in the cabins loved them too. Restaurant and bar are very convenient if you don't want to cook. Atmosphere among the campers was relaxed and convivial but never rowdy. We brought our own boats but used Riverdrivers' shuttles to the Dead River put-in, then paddled right back to the campground--a luxury at the end of a long, exciting day. Whatever your goal for the day, just be sure you come ready to have fun. The experience of a day on the water with Ian and Marcelo is what I would call "stealth coaching". Their encouraging and positive vibe is contagious but what you don't realize until later is that you were improving each run because of their input. Both are accomplished athletes and it gives them the ability to spot where body mechanics need to change. But their coaching style is so laid back that you feel like you are hanging with friends. I did some slalom runs and a long barefoot run with them and the experience was amazing. I can't wait to get back and learn how to surf!See more..
