Sam did a great job leading his first trip! He was very knowledgeable of the area, came prepared for any unexpected circumstances and did a great job keeping the group together and keeping people engaged. It was great to have Kyle as a bonus guide, he added humor and well seasoned knowledge of the area and really shared his passion with us. Shout out to Colby for not only driving the bus but driving a bus with a trailer attached to it - as someone who has sent a trailer over the edge of a ramp more than once, I was impressed. All in all I would highly recommend adding Maine State Sea Kayak onto your to-do list for your trip to Acadia, the staff are great, the views are wonderful, and the wildlife is hard to beat, one of the best kayak trips I’ve gone on with guides!See more..
Our two families with 4 total teenagers had a wonderful experience- even starting at 5 am! Tim McCluskly was a great guide- had a great rapport with our kids and we all laughed a lot throughout the morning. Of course seeing a Moose right at the end made the trip amazing- but we'd like to think we would have still thought it was worth it if we hadn't. The experience of canoeing on such a beautiful serene pond early in the morning was an experience itself. Tim clearly takes pride in his work and we could tell he was intent on doing his best to find a moose and teach us everything he knows about them while we looked. My experience with Chris Young more than fulfilled my expectations. Starting before sunrise, Chris and I arrived at one location and spotted a female and calf grazing in the distance. Chris determined that the male had recently left the area, so we did too, arriving at a second location 20 minutes later. By now, the light was better. We staked out a location. Chris heard two bulls in the woods beyond a clearing. He began calling to them, using a combination of male & females sounds and also simulating the sound of a male moving through brush. It took 10 or 15 minutes but sure as day, a huge bull moose could be seen approaching through the woods. He was so large that he had to turn his head sideways so his antlers would fit between the branches of two trees. He emerged slowly and approached, keeping his eye on us. I was furiously taking pictures while Chris handled the conversation, eventually dismissing the moose after determining that safety called for it. The overall experience was exhilarating. Chris is totally knowledgeable about moose habits. He was fun to be with and delivered one of the most exciting experiences of my life. I recommend him totally. He's the best.See more..

We had a lovely, relaxing long weekend in a yurt. There was a skylight and one night there was a lightening storm and we lay on the king size bed enjoying the view. Our canoe trip on the lake was so peaceful - we happened to be there at a time where it was just us and the guide. Our hike to the waterfalls was lovely. We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were very helpful and courteous. I don't want to spoil anything, but we loved the little surprise treats we got. Almost forgot - we saw 3 moose from the roadside!See more..

Amber was an enthusiastic and knowledgable guide. She knew where to go. She taught us about moose habits and what kind of environment were most likely to host moose on a regular basis. She instructed us how to approach moose to insure the best expereince and the closest encounter. For nearly 30 minutes all five of us were within 20-30 yards of a cow and her calf. The moose knew we were close but not alarmed--because we were instructed on how to behave. Amber knew her territory AND the moose. Both are required for success.See more..

My mom and I decided to drive up to Maine for the weekend and have a good time. We took the tour at Special T Adventures to try and see some moose. The tour was great! We got to learn about the area and moose facts. After about an hour and a half of moose searching we had brownies. The brownies were delicious as we ate them looking at the sunset over Moosehead Lake. At the end, we saw a majestic moose cow. Overall, great tour, the guide, Trevor, is a really kind, funny, and knowledgeable guide who is always excited to see a moose. Definitely recommend.See more..

Rich and his family were excellent hosts to my wife and I making us feel a part of the family as well. My wife and I did a two part trip with Twin Maple Outdoors. On the first day we did a jet boat trip for smallmouth bass and we caught dozens. On the second day we took the float boat out in search of salmon on the fly. Rich did not disappoint as I landed a few beautiful LL salmon. My wife had never seen a moose in the wild before and that was her goal during this weekend trip. Rich took us in search of a moose and soon enough we had spotted 2 but they were a distance away. Then, there he was! A beautiful bull moose standing in the shallows of a pond only 100' or so from shore. My wife's trip was now complete after a photo session with the moose. It was a wonderful weekend and we look forward to a return trip soon!See more..

We highly recommend Ashley from Lone Wolf Guide Services! We had an early morning safari that started with a delicious cup of coffee! We then set out for logging land around Moosehead Lake. Ashley spotted a cow and her yearling fairly soon into our journey! We were out of the truck watching them and they watching us before they sauntered off! Thrilling!!Ashley took us through the forest roads looking for more moose and describing such interesting details about moose, the forest, the flowers, the birds. A true nature girl... she knows her stuff! She then picked a beautiful spot in the forest where the fall colors were vibrant, and laid out a wonderful breakfast for us on the tailgate of her truck. My wife and I and two friends spent the first week of September paddling the St. Croix river with Jason Cross, a Master Maine Guide and founder of Smoking Rivers. This was our second multi-day trip with Jason and even better than the first. We’re lightly experienced canoeists in our late 50s. Jason gave super clear instructions on how to navigate the white water, found glorious camping spots, helped us see everything from beavers to moose to smallmouth bass. And every day he cooked the world’s heartiest meals over the camp fire. We’ve known a half a dozen Maine guides and Jason is one of the most thoughtful, organized and at the same time, easygoing and fun. Whatever your goal for the day, just be sure you come ready to have fun. The experience of a day on the water with Ian and Marcelo is what I would call "stealth coaching". Their encouraging and positive vibe is contagious but what you don't realize until later is that you were improving each run because of their input. Both are accomplished athletes and it gives them the ability to spot where body mechanics need to change. But their coaching style is so laid back that you feel like you are hanging with friends. I did some slalom runs and a long barefoot run with them and the experience was amazing. I can't wait to get back and learn how to surf!See more..

Strawberry Lane is kid's activity that is set up right next to the pick your own berry fields. We were here with two grandkids, aged 3 and 5 1/2, and they spent well over an hour at all of the different stations, with fun activities to learn about strawberry growing and picking, playing active games, sampling strawberry lemonade, and eating a very substantial snack of homemade biscuits with strawberry freezer jam (recipe provided). Then they headed out into the fields to search for and pick berries. Th price seemed a bit high at first, but the fee included all of the activities plus the food and a container to fill to the brim with strawberries, which can run around $5 all by itself. The farm had done a kid's gardening class earlier in the season, and apparently has more of these entertaining and healthy activities planned for later in the season.See more..
