We just took the tour last week and it was excellent. Our guide Jamie was knowledgeable not only about King, his family and his works but also the Bangor area. We booked a private tour for 5 plus our St Bernard and the tour was roomy and comfortable for all of us. We were thrilled to learn that our dog "Cujo" was the first Cujo EVER to take the tour! I am a self-proclaimed SK expert and I learned a few things. My wife and kids also had a great time. Its a great tour for fans of the books, movies OR both. I am also interested in the history of Betts Bookstore....and as a bonus...Jamie's father was the previous owner....so I got extra history there as well! I only wish I would have booked another tour for later that day JUST to ask additional questions and see additional sites. We will definitely be back to do another tour in the future. This tour was definitely worth the time and money! The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the area. He kept the conversation light and funny. We originally thought that it would have been better to take the tour at the beginning of our week in Portland, but taking it on the last full day there was even better, as we now have started to build our itinerary for our next visit. Fav bit about the trip was all the below Kids had a of a time all weekend for that, our guide Jimmy was brilliant funny fooker kept the wee ones in mind and us entertained on the River . Jimmy the owner was like a cup of tea and a scone with jam & butter on it (bloody lovely). The cabins were great and Patrick’s pub was only 2 doors away double boom . Banged out the atvs as well that was a savage time did 4 hrs would do longer next time The staff were great and place is dog friendly so that was a big plus as well so I guess we were extremely happy and would go back ASAP Recommend the blueberry beer on the deck in the evening time it was the balls Need to sell fly nets for ur head for when u get off bus to walk to river, once rafting they are gone but those little shites eat u good⛄️See more..
I can’t say enough about what an incredible 4 day trip I had with Polly and her dogs. She has a wealth of experience and you can truly tell how much she loves sharing her knowledge. I learned so much in the short weekend getaway, about the dogs, winter camping, the land, and life in general. The dogs are well loved and some of my favorite memories will be the interactions I shared with them including our animal communication session. Polly even had tips for how to walk my husky so she doesn’t drag me and it works!! Dave cooked the most delicious camp food and guided us through the gorgeous forest skiing, we even saw some fresh moose tracks. I highly recommend this trip for anyone who has a desire to learn about dogsledding, winter camping, and even getting in touch with the land. What Mahoosuc Guide Service has curated for the winter season is beautiful in the rawest form. I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again and am looking forward to what summer brings from them as well!!See more..
My friend discovered this while we were in town to raft the Penobscot. We were very impressed! Our guide, Dave, was very nice, attentive, and did everything possible to find those shy critters. We arrived early as requested by the tour and to take some pre-tour photos since they have a STUNNING view of Katahdin, and Dave was already there getting everything set for us. It was a bit late in the season, but they graciously accommodated our request for a tour rather last minute. We dressed warmly and brought blankets, but it wasn't enough, and Dave was ready with back up blankets! They also provided bottled water. Everything was very clean. It was clear health and safely was also a priority. We did not get to see a moose, but Dave really did an excellent job and was knowledgeable about the area. We could not have asked for anything better and highly recommend this tour and his services. Quality folks, quality tour. We will be returning!See more..

My mom and I decided to drive up to Maine for the weekend and have a good time. We took the tour at Special T Adventures to try and see some moose. The tour was great! We got to learn about the area and moose facts. After about an hour and a half of moose searching we had brownies. The brownies were delicious as we ate them looking at the sunset over Moosehead Lake. At the end, we saw a majestic moose cow. Overall, great tour, the guide, Trevor, is a really kind, funny, and knowledgeable guide who is always excited to see a moose. Definitely recommend.See more..

My daughter and I booked one night and a whitewater raft trip on the Kennebec River and we had a wonderful time. The staff at Adventure Bound was very friendly and accommodating and I really liked the fact that they didn’t nickel and dime you to death. The pricing was very reasonable and affordable. I will definitely be using them again in the future and would highly recommend them if you are looking for a rustic adventure.See more..
