staff was great, lots of information
There is a small hike up some stairs to the actual visitor center from the parking lot. We stopped here midday to turn in Jr Ranger books. Small wait at the information desk (4 groups ahead of us) but the line moved quickly. Ranger was very personable with the kids and took his time interacting with them. He was a lot of fun to talk to. Very clean bathrooms. After that we went back to the parking lot. Very helpful attendant helped us figure out which bus we needed for our afternoon activities. It was a rainy day so crowds were light so there wasn't much line to get on the transports (and almost no one left in the parking lot when we got back that evening).

    Acadia in Winter
Had a great trip to Acadia. Torn between recommending winter, when there are nearly no crowds, but many trails are iced over and much of Bar Harbor is shuttered, vs. going in summer / shoulder months when the crowds are there. For me, I think I'd stick with winter, even though the snow was lacking, nearly non-existent. Would love to go back when there's better snow cover and thicker ice on the ponds & lakes.
