A MUST do in Bar Harbor

A trip to Bar Harbor without doing this, is an incomplete trip, this was totally amazing. I would go twice, go at low tide , cross the harbor and hike up Bar Island, then come a few hours later at high tide and see what happend. Once you see both views you will be totally amazed Make sure you check tidal times otherwise you can get stuck and pay $150 to get rescued. Be aware while this is free (You need the Acadia Park Pass to go to Bar Island for a great view of Fisherman's Bay) you have to pay for parking nearby ($2 an hour)

Kids and adults enjoy building small rock formations.
We enjoyed this area. You must watch the tides or you’ll end up stuck on the island but it’s very busy so you can go with the flow of what others are doing. I’d recommend taking the trail to the right if you want to do a hike to see some abandoned buildings on the trail. We went left and walked the whole island but it was tricky and not an easy trail IF you go left. “GO RIGHT” unless you like rock climbing. ?

    Easy and unique trail!
Make sure you time your hike just right, or else you will get stranded on the island for 9 hours while you wait for the tide to go out! The hike is unique, and the island gives you a great view of town from across the water. My only complaint is the idiots that hiked with us - some of which decided to drive across the sandbar in a car instead of hike to the island. I would say that this is a must see in Bar Harbor. PSA: you are required to have an Acadia Daily pass to hike the island - although I am not sure how they would check it unless you run across a park ranger on the island. :)
