    The best mountain zoo!
This was my very favorite part of our weekend trip to Colorado Springs! The zoo is in the mountains and there are opportunities to interact with the animals. We bought tickets online, which I highly recommend during Covid, because they limit the number of visitors. We went in the morning when the park opened, which is a great time because they feed the animals so they are out and active. You can feed the giraffes, pet the walabees, feed and hold birds, and get up close with penguins. We watched the lions play and eat breakfast. Don't miss this experience when visiting Colorado Springs!

Very Great Zoo...with a few minor flaws
Visited in mid-March, 2023. Amazing location for a zoo. Lots of great animals to see, and it was good to see that most had really great pens/enclosures. As is the case with any zoo I have been to, if you aren't there on the right day or week, and at the right time of day, you may miss out on really seeing several animals (for various reasons). As was the case of this zoo for our visit. Also, as with all zoos we have been to, the dining options are high on price and low on flavor. Our meals were not bad, just very average despite paying a high premium. The zoo was very clean and well kept. Just fell slightly short of excellent. We still would really recommend people visit this zoo. It overall is very worth it.
