There are lots of stores to wander around in and plenty of restaurants to choose from to suit everyone’s taste. I went on a weekend so parking in the garage was free. There is a cost for street parking. I spent time going in and out of stores I don’t have at home. Wander around especially if it’s a nice day. See more..

    Middlebrook Historic District image
We visited rural town of Middlebrook on our way to Polyface Farms. The town is surprising in its character and lends itself to pleasant on-foot exploration. State Route 252 becomes the main street of the town lined up with at least fifty 19th century historic houses. The houses are vernacular - built with what was available in terms of local materials and manpower, simple, practical and often rugged - and that makes them special while giving them unique individual character.. There is a frame school building, two churches, an Odd Fellows Hall . We were surprised by the presence of a lovely Orthodox church with the characteristic cross. Either walking or even just driving through this charming town is interesting. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1983. It is also on the Virginia Landmarks Register . See more..
