    Devils Backbone Outpost Brewery image
We are self quarantining in a cabin in the mountains and decided to support one local business. After checking a bunch of websites we chose the Devil’s Backbone Brewery because you can order a food pack for a local family in need which I did. For ourselves, we ordered the chili family pack, with chili, cornbread, shredded cheese and sour cream, chopped red onion, and pound cake with fruit topping and whipped cream! We are so impressed with their take-out service which is touchless, the amount of food they provided and the courteousness of the folks who answered the phone and brought the food out. They even packed disposable gloves into the bag they put utensils and napkins and wipes! Nice touch! See more..

When Jonathan Staples launched Black Hops Farm in 2014 the goal was to provide local hops to Virginia’s thriving alcohol industry. This would not only support the beverage industry but also local agriculture by promoting further hop farming. With an emphasis on hops it was a no brainer that a brewery belonged on the farm. Thus, Vanish Farmwoods Brewery was born! Vanish resides on the 53 acre Black Hops Farm in beautiful Lucketts, Va. With the use of local ingredients we focus on bringing you beer that is plant to pint and seed to sip. We offer up to 20 beers on tap at a time in our massive Taproom. We boast plenty of outdoor space with scenic views. Come see us and don’t miss out on our Mega Flight of 12 tasters or our Gigaflight of 24 tasters! See more..

    2 Silos Brewing Co image
Visited with a group of friends and had a good time. The establishment is actually a mix of a couple of restaurants and bar areas, as well as food trucks. There is a playground for children, too. There is indoor and outdoor seating, and you seat yourself. The staff was very helpful in getting outdoor tables dried after a bit of rain. Aside from being helpful, we found the staff to be quite friendly, too. There are no hosts in the main part of the facility, which means that you get your own drinks and food. Once you open a tab, you can purchase items at any of the bar or food areas; that is convenient. There is a stage for live music. See more..

Came here one Tuesday evening with co-workers for a few drinks and to watch karaoke. I was surprised by the amount of amazing talent that was there and also by the fact that nearly everyone there decided to sign up to sing! They’re all mostly locals who know each other, which was great for those of us just there for the show, as they let loose and had a great time. PRN has a nice selection of drinks and food from food trucks that area featured outside. The place is interesting… lots of big rooms/outdoor areas to sit, sip and nosh. It has a cool, fun, party vibe to it… I can see it being very popular. I’m more into laid back atmospheres though, so the vibe wasn’t quite my thing, though I did have a good time. See more..

6 Bears & a Goat Brewing Co. image
We stopped by here on a Wednesday night for some brews and good food and we were not disappointed. We have been here several times and it's become one of our favorite's in the area because of the selection of local brews delivered, the very good food at a reasonable price and the impeccable service. We have always been treated kindly and with respect. This time we tried the Flight of Sliders with a side order of sweet potato fries. They always cook and season their fries to what I consider perfection. Very crispy and delicious. The sliders were Very good. Three small burgers just the right size (4 oz?), each with a different slant/condiments. We needed a doggy box as two were just right for us. Abundant delicious food at a reasonable price. We are becoming a regular here as we are cared for here. See more..

As soon as we walked in Jennifer greeted us with a friendly smile and introduced herself and asked us our names. She remembered them the next day. The beer samples were so good I ended up ordering a flight so I could try a few more. Not a stout drinker but the bourbon stout was very good. She recommended the award winning clam chowder and the crab balls. Both were delicious. We came back the next day for a crab cake sandwich and got some beer to take home on our way out of town. Met some really nice couples while there. We even ran into Mike and Marge a few times in town. Definitely stop in to see Jennifer and you might also meet some other nice people while there. Excellent! I stopped at Trapezium to get dinner one night passing through Petersburg. It's a fun place! Obviously they have beer. They also have appetizers, but what they really have are pizzas! I got their version of a Hawaiian pizza, the Kealea Luau, and it was delicious! I also got their beer they call Salted Caramel Brown and it was smooth as heck, nice and malty- just really yummy. I also appreciated the abundance of outdoor seating that they had. I would definitely recommend it! See more..

    Great Valley Farm Brewery image
Visited in July 2021 after exploring Natural Bridge State Park and doing a couple of hikes. Great Valley was the perfect way to cap off our day. Beautiful views from the top of the hill. Very friendly service. Nice selection of beers and wines. Some food options (chips/cheese from a cooler indoors). We tried both a beer and wine flight. They told us they are constantly changing their beer menu...depending on what is being brewed. You select from a menu of different wines or beers for the flight you want. We even bought a bottle of wine to take back to our hotel for later. They weren't really busy and we enjoyed chatting with the fellow behind the counter. Great space to spread out and enjoy the views. Highly recommend a stop at Great Valley Brewery. Reasonable prices, friendly service, great beer and wine. See more..

    Hawksbill Brewing Co image
Located in the heart of Luray this was a nice surprise for a fun space and quality beer. The GPS had a heck of a time navigating and took us in circles once in town, so we ended up looking at the address and the streets to find the old fashion way! It’s a little rustic with indoor and outdoor seating. You can bring your own food and there was a food truck on site on the weekend. They had about 9 beers to choose from and it was nice to have a change from ALL IPA! They had a pair of wheats, a porter, a cream all and more. They seemed to cleverly work fruit into a few and while I tend to shy from these, they were very well done. High marks for the Kolsch-like cream ale, the red ale and the Working Class Hoppy Pale ale “POG”. The staff were attentive and friendly. Spoke with the brewer/owner for a few minutes and he was super friendly and loved to chat about the beers. It was the best part of our afternoon in the Luray area. They offer growlers and have most stuff in cans to go. See more..
  29. 4.5 Basic City Beer Co. (51 reviews)

    Spent 1-2 hours Breweries
    Basic City Beer Co. image
This craft brewery is close to the Waynesboro exit for Skyline drive, and after driving the 104 miles you'll want to stop and have a beer or two. There's a small "Show Room" at the top of the hill that has mixed drinks, beer of course, and Sandwiches Thursday through Sunday. The Tap room at the bottom of the hill sells Pizza Tuesday through Sunday. They have a great outside beer garden, but I'm not used to the Southern Heat so I headed inside. It's counter service for the beer and food, but worth the stop. I had the Basic Pils and the special sandwich and the beer was exceptional and the sandwich was tasty. It was a house smoked pastrami with a light touch of smoke. I would definitely order it again. If you go to the show room talk to Patrick, he will set you up with the right libation. See more..

    Black Narrows Brewing image
This is a very relaxing brewery. They have a large patio plus the yard with tables spaced apart currently due to COVID. There is a good selection of beers which I rate 4 of 5 as craft beer goes. The huge soft pretzel with hot mustard is fun. Perhaps the best reason to go here is that you can order delivery from the seafood shop next door. We went to the brewery twice for the fresh seafood. We had steamed clams and fresh shrimp to peel - all great with beer. Service is very friendly. They also have game nights. See more..

My coworkers and I were in town for an event and stumbled upon Far Gohn. What a great find! Even though they were busy, the staff was friendly and very helpful. The whole place had a casual welcoming feel, and even though there was live music, we could carry on a conversation. We sampled quite a few different brews, and didn't find a stinker in the bunch. Then there was the pizza. Even if you don't like beer, the pizza is reason enough to check out Far Gohn. The crust is thin and perfectly executed. The sauce and toppings are bright and fresh. I mean, these pizzas are so good, they'll bring a tear to your eye. It's only been 24 hours, and I'm trying to figure out how to make it back to Culpeper. See more..

This was a happening place! The place was already packed when we arrived and then another huge crowd came in shortly after we sat down at the bar. I usually have a hard time finding a beer to enjoy at small breweries; this kind of stop is more for my husband. But the Definitely Not Apple Cider shandy was delicious. Very light and fruity. I loved it. Wish I could find it in stores. We walked 15 minutes across downtown from our hotel to get here because we weren’t sure whether there would be any parking available. Lake Anne Brew House image
Our love of craft beer is huge, as is our love of Lake Anne and Reston, which ultimately lead us to this mission: To create a community-focused taproom, brewing small-batch, hand-crafted beer, and to serve it up lakeside on our amazing deck and patio overlooking beautiful Lake Anne. Brews with views… what more could you ask for? Our community-focused brewery embraces the ‘Live-Work-Play’ philosophy that Robert E. Simon built this place to be, and we strive to uphold his ideals in all that we do as a business. We built this business for all of you, for our community, and for the greater community of craft beer drinkers. Brewing Beer | Building Community See more..

Capping off a day trip around Hampton, we decided to stop into The St George Brewing Company. I fell in love with their Shandy at an event last summer and the lady at the taps happily made me one! We sat inside the brewery at a picnic table and were joined by a couple of guys and enjoyed chatting over our beers. A guitarist showed up and was awesome! Fun way to end a day!! See more..
