  13. 4.5 The National Museum of the United States Army (43 reviews)
    - Enjoyable visit-happy to see an Army Museum!
Sunday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Military Museums • History Museums
The National Museum of the United States Army image
Overall I enjoyed my visit. It is free but you must go online to request a reservation/day/time - recommend you do this way in advance. When entering you go through security snd then a volunteer guide will give you a brochure and a brief overview. There is a 13-minute film you may want to see first. I am retired Army and am glad to see this! I’ve read some other reviews that were somewhat negative and my response is that it’s impossible to please everyone as we each have individual perspectives and see history through different contexts. But overall I feel the museum does a fine job covering such a long time period. The museum provides a glimpse of the Army’s history from the American Revolution to today’s conflicts to include a number of individual stories, artifacts and life like displays. Allow at least three hours. See more..

    - The grandkids had a great time!

    Shannon Air Museum image
Shannon Air Museum is the perfect stop on a hot, muggy August afternoon! The docent varied his presentation so my 5- and 7-year-old grandsons would enjoy it. The boys especially enjoyed the recently installed wind tunnel with the remote controlled airplane. Mr. Blosser was so patient with them. He taught them how to control the rudders and throttle and the boys were thrilled! They couldn’t wait to go outside and sit in the two WWll airplanes. Again, Mr. Blosser was quite patient when teaching them. We capped our visit with ice cream at the Eagle’s Nest, a full-service restaurant. While eating the ice cream, we saw three small planes taxi and take off. What a treat!!! We were there for about three hours and loved every minute of it! See more..
