  3. 3.5 Amc Theatres (114 reviews)
    - Enjoyable afternoon

    Amc Theatres image
We arrived early to the movie theatre in order to select our seating. While we were waiting for the movie to start, we reviewed the menu, ordered our meals and sat back to wait. The food came quickly and, while not hot, was warm and was fairly good for typical movie fare. The service was excellent, during the course of the meal we were visited several times by service attendants. One note about serving size; they were large. We ordered a small popcorn and received a bowl that was typical of the traditional bucket and too much for even two people to share unless that is all you eat. The meals appear to be large enough that they can easily be shared if you preferred a smaller size meal, particularly during the matinee shows See more..
  4. 4.0 The State Theatre (107 reviews)
    - Wonderful Venue
    Bars & Clubs • Theatre & Performances
    The State Theatre image
Built in 1936, The State Theatre operated as a popular movie until the late 1980's. The first film shown was Thanks A Million starring Dick Powell and on November 27, 1988 the State closed its doors after a final showing of Die Hard starring Bruce Willis. The first theatre on the East Coast to be centrally air-conditioned, the State was the flagship of the family-owned Neighborhood Theatres chain which also operated, among others, the Glebe (now a Duron paint store), the Buckingham (now a Post Office) and the Jefferson (now a Chile's restaurant). A multi-million dollar restoration in the late 1990's turned it into the Washington Metro area's favorite new venue for live music and private events. The full theatrical stage is original, as are the 200 balcony seats and both lobbies. The theatre seats on the main floor were removed to allow for the re-design of the auditorium which now accommodates full service dining, standing and dancing areas and two full service bars. The restoration also added a full service restaurant for dining and catering private events. See more..
  5. 5.0 The Carter Fold (97 reviews)
    - A requirement for old-time music fans.
Historic Sites • Theatre & Performances
    The Carter Fold image
I admit that we stopped here during the week so the Fold was closed. But we did see the street signs named for songs, the ouside of A.P.'s birthplace, and a few outdoor history boards. I've loved the Carter Family recordings since I was teenager and finally got to see Poor Valley and Clinch Mountain. Also saw the graves at the Methodist Church. If you love this music I highly recommed you see these things. See more..

    - Nice Visit

    Pro Re Nata image
Came here one Tuesday evening with co-workers for a few drinks and to watch karaoke. I was surprised by the amount of amazing talent that was there and also by the fact that nearly everyone there decided to sign up to sing! They’re all mostly locals who know each other, which was great for those of us just there for the show, as they let loose and had a great time. PRN has a nice selection of drinks and food from food trucks that area featured outside. The place is interesting… lots of big rooms/outdoor areas to sit, sip and nosh. It has a cool, fun, party vibe to it… I can see it being very popular. I’m more into laid back atmospheres though, so the vibe wasn’t quite my thing, though I did have a good time. See more..
  7. 4.0 Jefferson Theater (67 reviews)
    - Great spot for live music

    Jefferson Theater image
Located on Charlottesville’s historic Downtown Mall, the Jefferson Theater was established in 1912 as a live performance theater that played host to silent movies, vaudeville acts and a historic list of live performers, ranging from Harry Houdini to The Three
Stooges. The Jefferson reopened on November 27, 2009 after a comprehensive restoration that highlights the
theater’s vintage architecture while modernizing its facilities. The theater features two full‐service bars on separate floors, a restored balcony, new central air and heating systems, and new restrooms throughout the facility. In addition, state‐of‐the-art sound and lighting systems and treatments to the theater’s acoustics make The Jefferson an excellent environment to experience live music. The venue now plays host to a range of genres including rock, bluegrass, reggae, country, metal and hip-hop. See more..

    Camp Rapidan image
We walked down from Skyline Drive and found the trip completely enjoyable. Walking was easy, through beautiful woods. The Rapidan site itself is well-kept with informative signs. Buildings were closed due to COVID but the excellent signage made us feel we had gotten the gist of the place. The buildings are built around the two streams which come together to form the Rapidan River. You'll cross the streams several times and see interesting bridges throughout the camp area. See more..
