4.5Mount Trashmore Park(473 reviews) - Really nice park! Spent 2-3 hours Parks • Scenic Walking Areas • Playgrounds
My dad has RAVED about Mt. Trashmore since he moved to the area so when I went down to visit I had to check it out. The park has a very interesting history. It’s a very nice park overall...the top of the “mountain” has great views of the skyline and the lake. There’s a really nice walking trail around the lake and the park has adequate parking and facilities. I imagine it would be a great place for locals to picnic and hang out.See more..
4.5Grommet Island Park(162 reviews) - Fun park in the shade at the beach Beaches • Playgrounds
Fun place to hang out near 2nd street. The park is very well shaded and right on the beach. There is a parking lot at 2nd street as well. This park is good for all age kids with different levels of risk. Plenty of benches for the parents. I love the spongy floor. See more..
What a wonderful park this is! It’s definitely worth bringing your kids here to enjoy the big playgrounds they have. They also have a picnic pavilion, kayak launch, basketball court, tennis court, and restroom. The equipment here is great. We stayed in a house across the street so were there a lot. We stayed four days and saw somebody from the city doing something at the park three of the days. One was just trash, the other was evening out mulch, and another was drying off the tennis courts after a rain. So it is a very well cares for place! The kids loved it and spent lots of time here!See more..
4.5Wilderness Road State Park(45 reviews) - Do not miss this hidden gem! State Parks • Hiking Trails • Playgrounds
What an incredible find! This place is truly a hidden gem that you will not want to miss! The reconstructed wilderness fort of Martin's Station in the park was fascinating, probably the most meticulously authentic and detailed fort I have ever seen. There was so much to see and absorb, and you really felt like you had stepped back in time--there was even a fully furnished tavern. I learned so much from the costumed interpreters working on site, one of whom was a former history teacher who told us fascinating stories about the individuals and what it took to survive in that place and time. I learned so many things that were unexpected and just really cool!See more..

4.5Great Bridge Lock Park(26 reviews) - Relaxing park for a walk or picnic. Spent 1-2 hours Parks • Playgrounds
If you are lucky you will get to see a boat go thru the locks while you are there. There are plenty of picnic tables and trails to walk. There are parks on both sides of the bridge. One has a boat ramp. The other side has trails to view the marsh. It's a nice place to fish and crab.. sort of hidden within the city and some History markers. I love to see the boats near and just walk and relax.See more..

There is nice land use with playground, fishing pier, porta johns, picnic area, kayak launch, water fountains, raised platforms to watch the pleasure craft and yachts await lock entrance. 5.0Nellies Cave Park(4 reviews) - A nice park for the grandsons to enjoy Playgrounds We kept our grandsons for a week and when traveling to meet their parents to return them we stopped in Blacksburg. Having some time before the scheduled meeting, I looked up parks and playgrounds. Finding this one was great! Located in an older neighborhood, found a nice playground with picnic shelter. The boys enjoyed the playground equipment, running off some energy. The place was well maintained, I was quiet impressed actually. Would stop there again.See more..

Accessible playground in a great location near the Botetourt YMCA (but DOES NOT require YMCA membership nor charge a fee). Even play surface and fenced, has plenty of onsite parking. Our 6-year-old daughter adores it, and we are looking forward to visiting on play dates with friends. Convenient enough to exit 150B off I81 to make it a nice travel stop for families. Playground itself has a great story -- built by the Addy Grace Foundation to honor a young woman.See more..

4.5Cheswick Park(2 reviews) - A Really Nice "Neighborhood" Park Parks • Hiking Trails • Playgrounds
You enter directly from Forest Avenue into a reasonable-sized parking lot. From the lot, you'll see: picnic tables, a shelter with picnic tables and a restroom building, a very large playground, and several paths. The walking/biking/running trails total about one mile. They intersect into several loop trails. They are either paved, have crushed gravel, or a matted down smooth forest trail........easy walking. At the beginning of one trail, there is a boardwalk over the Upham Branch, a small creek. Recently, we had a very nice spring stroll through the park. Pretty quiet; not too many people there.See more..
4.5Centennial Park(2 reviews) - Very nice park Parks • Playgrounds The town has spent a lot of time and money updating this park. There are swings and so forth for kids to play on, and a group of concerned citizens recently added handicapped friendly equipment. There is a stage and a pavilion with tables and a grill. There are restrooms as well, so families, groups, or individuals can spend time here. This is a great facilitySee more..
3.0Hidden Creek Park And Recreation Center(2 reviews) - A Neighborhood Park, with tons of things to do, which includes a fascinating Aerospace Memorial Parks • Playgrounds
This park has a Recreation Center, with a multipurpose room (#60 capacity) and a conference room (#10 capacity) to rent. There are your "usuals:" playground areas and picnic shelters. There is a walking trail (roughly 1/3 mile) and two tennis courts. But, most interesting, is a Memorial, in the way of a bronze plaque to "The Seven Challenger Crew Members" who died when their space shuttle blew up on January 28, 1986. There are 7 stones, one for each astronaut who died that day. And, yes, there is a small creek that runs through the park.See more..
4.0Pouncey Tract Park(2 reviews) - A Small Park With A Bunch of Things to Do Parks • Playgrounds
Maybe, first and foremost are the 12 pickleball courts, something you don't see everywhere. But, there are the "usual" things to do: a softball/baseball field; a football field, which can double as a soccer field; a huge playground; and some trails around and through the park. In 2011, Springfield School, which dates from the 1920s, was moved to Pouncy Tract Park. This two-room school was attended by African-American students. An interesting bit of local history in the park.See more..
5.0Kids Playce(2 reviews) - Best Playground Ever Parks • Playgrounds
This was by far the coolest and most fun playground I've ever seen! I can imagine being a kid and being able to spend countless hours here and not get bored. It's truly designed with kids in mind and you just can't find playgrounds like this anymore. Will definitely be back when we visit town again.See more..
5.0Short Pump Park(1 review) - A Park For Pretty Much Everyone Parks • Playgrounds
Yes, there's lots to do there for both humans, young and old, and canines. For the latter, there's a great dog park, with separate areas for large and small dogs. There's water to dunk/sit in and a little spray fountain for them to run through. For little kids, there's a great "spray fountain" for them to run through the water jets. And, a very large playground. For older "kids" and adults, there is a baseball/softball field, a soccer/football field, a trail through the woods, picnic tables, and a really great "Pollinator Garden," with plants clearly labeled and identified. There are some neat historical displays about Native Americans, Education in Henrico County, and the local area, Short Pump. On site, is the 1902 two-room Deep Run School (moved here in 1996)! Very nice.See more..
5.0Dunncroft Castle Point Park(1 review) - An Interesting Park with a "Spray Park" and a 9-hole Disc Golf Course Parks • Playgrounds
An interesting combination of "things" to do at this park. In addition to the "usual" picnic shelter, a play area, and a short walking/hiking trail, there is a nice spray park for the kids (not operative when we were there). And, to top it all off, there is a very large 9-hole disc golf course.See more..
3.0Robinson Park(1 review) - A Neat Little Neighborhood Park Parks • Playgrounds

3.0Springfield Park(1 review) - A Small Neighborhood Park with Picnic Shelter and Playground Parks • Playgrounds
