What a wonderful time we had! Staff super nice and got us on the river quickly. We did tubing, it should take hour and half and if we wanted to we could have gone again if we got back by 3. I recommend water shoes of some type, my kids lived without, they sell some there. Also a snack stand there. Wear sunblock, river is wide with little shade. The views are pretty and we had a hawk flying near us most of the time. Such a great day!See more..
I booked my zip line adventure over a week in advance. Once the experience was a few days away, the weather was looking questionable. Tyler reached out to offer the chance to reschedule. The adventure was truly amazing. Five zip lines of varying lengths/speeds with beautiful views made for a great time. Tyler was a great guide and extremely knowledgeable. Excellent way to spend a lazy afternoon floating down the James River for three hours. If you are a thrill seeker, this is NOT for you. But if you want to just float along and soak up the sun and the beautiful scenery while staying cool, by all means head down to James River Runners. If you don't mind spending money, there is literally nothing that you need to bring other than a bathing suit. They have everything you need for sale in the office. The staff is helpful--- and I mean EVERY SINGLE ONE of them. I asked a lot of questions because I am a bit of a city boy with limited outdoor experience. They patiently answered everything and soon enough I was out on the river having a relaxing time in the sun.See more..

Entire process was easy, low key, safe and fun. First day we went canoeing, intermediate level trip. I am experienced but less agile than when younger, and my son is less experienced, but we had no trouble, and had great fun with small rapids and riffles. Day 2 we did the tubing, very relaxing. They handled between 300 and 400 tubers that day, and while parking area was somewhat chaotic, the staff handled things well. We had a great time, enjoyed a warm shower at the facility afterwards, and overall had a fantastic experience. Great time, great folks, we will return!See more..

Great shuttle from Timmy from Galax to Pulaski to do a end to end on the New river trail. He showed up on time and safely transported our 2 single bikes and 1 tandem bike. I would highly recommend this company. We drove down from N.H. and had a great ride down the trail.See more..

We fished the last day of March 2018. The river was very high and murky. I was concerned we wouldn't catch any fish but New River Outdoor Company put us big fish. A special thanks to our guide Randy. We used Clinch River Adventures for a kayaking trip on a Monday for our family of five. They take you up to a start point, and when you see the baseball diamond in the adjacent park to their caboose building. They help you get in and out of your kayak if you wish, and ask you if you want a traditional kayak or a sit on top kayak. The river was low, and we were told that when the owner called to confirm the reservation. We were prepared and it and were able to navigate it well. There were even signs of the ecosystem in the river...there were cows keeping cool right as we started, and some roosters about 2/3 of the way down the river. Fun stuff!See more..

Wonderful 2+ hour kayak trip from the boat landing in Eggleston back New River’s Edge. The fall colors and the cliffs along the way on the New are absolutely stunning. Had some exciting moments through the rapids followed by relaxing times in the calm, incredibly clear water. Paul is very friendly and share interesting factoids about the New River on our van ride to Eggleston. We’ve also gone tubing with Paul’s outfit in the summer and that is a blast too.See more..

James River Adventures offer exciting adventures at the spectacular Rivers Edge park right across the bridge. My 15 year old daughter and I paddle boarded while my 7 year old son road with us. Robert got us in the water right away and did a great job assisting us with the process. They are in a perfect location as the water was calm and the view of downtown Lynchburg was amazing.
