We docked our boat overnight and the folks here hooked us up with Doug - who brought us a golf cart to tool around town. The restaurant/bar next door was also excellent. I had a nice juicy oyster basket. Yum. See more..

  6. 1.0 Holly Grove Marina (1 review)
    - Not friendly
    Marinas
My wife and rented a pontoon boat for the day from them. We stopped in the night before to confirm reservation and was told they didn't have us down but they had one available. We had set the reservation up more than a month in advance not very organized. They weren't very friendly or helpful when asked questions about fishing tackle and bait got the impression that we were interrupting them. We showed up the next morning to rent boat had to wait for him to finish fuel it up. We filled out the paperwork and made payment for rental. We then went down to the b ok at where we got a real quick orientation about the boat and were sent on our way. We again felt that we were an interruption in there day. The boat itself was in need of some repair, no horn, handled very sluggishly, GPS depth finder was broken, front seats felt like they were gonna break when you leaned back in them, seat cushions were torn and missing padding, over all the boat was in need of a little TLC. I feel that overall they really don't care about their customers return business. We were never told to fill it up with fuel before returning it. We were told that if we needed to get fuel there were a few places on the lake to do that. We were hit with a 40 dollar charge for fuel when we returned. We will not be doing anymore business with them and I would suggest anyone reading this to do the same. We foolishly used them without checking reviews for them first they were recommended by the campground we were staying at. We did read a few reviews on them afterwards and realized that we were one of the fortunate customers . All the reviews we read the peoples boats broke down and needed to be rescued with much resistance on Hilly Grove Marina's part. We can't stress enough to stay clear of them when thinking about a boat rental in the Lake Gaston area See more..

  8. 4.0 Fishing Bay Marina (1 review)
    - Marina
    Thursday: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Marinas
As a temporary visitor I would say my view is a little skewed since I can't speak to any long term use of the facilities but I found the place very well maintained and well run. Everything you need is there but I would say that making wifi a little more reliable would go quite a long way to make it perfect. See more..
  9. 4.0 Anna Point Marina (1 review)
    - Excellent Marina; Great Place to Launch Your Boat
    Marinas
We towed our 17 ft. boat to Lake Anna Virginia for the first time and chose Anna Point Marina as our launching spot. Access to the boat ramp was simple and easy, with plenty of room to turn and back up. Launching fee is $10, paid at the Fish Tales store. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The Fish Tales Store carries tackle and convenience store items for fisherman and boaters. Fishing guides, Dave Fauntleroy and Wayne Dorman will provide details about boating and fishing on Lake Anna. You can also purchase your fishing licenses here. See more..
  10. 4.0 Hopewell City Marina (1 review)
    - First time using this marina
    Marinas
Wanted a marina to use on the tidal James River more between Richmond and the Chickahominy River. This location at the mouth of the Appomattox River was perfect. Nice ramps and plenty of trailer parking. A small store with restrooms on site right at the multi lane ramps. We paid 8 bucks for the ramp fee. Looks to be slip rentals available but not sure of those details. Great day of fishing from this takeoff and will definitely use this marina again!! See more..
