We booked the premium upper deck tickets and highly recommend paying the extra, as it was well worth it. We can’t fault anything about the cruise, it was fantastic. The food was absolutely delicious, but what really made the trip so enjoyable was the staff. They were all so friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Hannah, Sam, and Jack on the boat and Ollie - guide on Sarah Island, thank you all so much, we had a terrific day. See more..
  2. 5.0 World Heritage Cruises (1.638 reviews)
    - A group excursion
Monday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Boat Tours
    World Heritage Cruises image
I guess this is why most people visit Strahan is to do the Gordon River Cruise and if you jump on World Heritage Cruises you wont be disappointed,. The boat is well maintained, new and the crew friendly and well trained. Lunch is good and individually served because of COVID (seating was also socially distanced). That is the boat. The itinerary is equally good with a visit to Hell's Gate, Sarah Island where you get off and taken on an interesting walking tour and finally the boardwalk up the river. The commentary from the open bridge is knowledgeable, humorous and has enough breaks to not be overpowering. Being a locally owned, family (generations in Strahan) is another plus. See more..

Our group of golfers really enjoyed taking time out to cruise up the Tamar River on this "discovery" tour. Our captain, Lynn, provided a well prepared monologue as we cruised first to Cataract Gorge and then up the river. The afternoon tea and wine and beer tastings complemented the experience well and we appreciated the opportunity to visit this icon area of North Tasmania. See more..
  4. 5.0 Leven River Cruises (354 reviews)
    - Bird Photography Cruise on the Leven
Monday: Boat Tours • Walking Tours • Private Tours • Nature & Wildlife Tours
    Leven River Cruises image
I went on a Bird Photography Cruise with Leven River Cruises and we were fortunate enough to see an adult White Bellied Sea Eagle catch an eel in the river, drug it up on the bank, and then carried it away to a fallen tree, had her fill and then passed it on to one of her juveniles so it could have a feed as well. On the cruise this day we not only saw eagles, but we also saw a Swap Harrier, an Australian Hobby, several White-faced Herons, 3 varieties of Cormorants, two varieties of ducks, wrens, Welcome Swallows, Brown Thornbills, European Goldfinches, Masked Lapwings, etc., etc. Add on top of that the stunning reflections of the surrounding trees in the river and it makes for a sensational day of cruising. If you're planning to be in the Ulverstone area, I highly recommend you book a cruise and experience a wonderful cruise on the Leven River with Kim! See more..

    - Nature at its most awe inspiring!

    Wild Ocean Tasmania image
Honestly I really don't know how words can do justice yo describing this experience. Without a doubt it is some of the most stunning seascape I have had the pleasure of being amongst. What makes this offering so unique though is Wild Ocean's knowledge and relationship with nature. These folks are able to read the offerings the sea presents and respond to create true adventure and awe. It makes the time a privilege in nature rather than just a tour. Thank goodness we can still find these experiences in a increasing world of formulaic packages. I will go regularly if life allows to fill up my awe, inspiration and hope in this amazing world we live in. I highly recommend to just get amongst it with these folks!!! See more..

Stayed at a caravan park, great accommodation and service. Next day we went on the Arthur river cruise , We stopped at a landing then we walked to a waterfall then another walk through the rainforest, lunch was provided on shore . for a vegetarian it was an amazing experience, the meal and its preparation was worthy of any five star hotel, the other people on the boat were so friendly it was like travelling with family. Seeing the sea eagles was another once in a life time experience , fish were thrown from the boat and the eagles swooped and got it it. lovely to see such magnificent creatures in their natural habitat, would recommend the trip. 7. 5.0 Bay of Fires Eco Tours (178 reviews)
    - Great tour and best way to understand the Bay of Fires (plus dolphins!)

We did the Gardens trip. We were fortunate to have gorgeous weather for our cruise, and the skipper and crew (family business!) took us right up along the coast showing us the beaches, marine life, and explaining the geology of this beautiful region. They were very knowledgable about the ecology and history. Our trip was capped off by a playful pod of dolphins when we were on the fast return leg, and so we got to see them up close as they jumped around the boat. Highly recommend this as a great way to spend a few hours exploring with locals who are passionate about their area. See more..
  8. 4.5 Pieman River Cruise (127 reviews)
    - A special experience!
    Boat Tours
    Pieman River Cruise image
The "Arcadia II"is a beautifully maintained boat made from Huon Pine with excellent outdoor seating, necessarily well protected from the prevailing weather. The cruise comes with an excellent individual lunch pack. There is a great commentary throughout the trip; we don't wish this following comment to be seen as a criticism (but a suggestion) - there could be a few more "close up & personal" stops to further improve the unique cruising experience e.g. to view and photograph the wonderful examples of Huon Pine (near the Savage River) or the old landing. There is a demanding but rewarding hike to the beach and the Pieman River heads when you disembark (to enjoy your lunch). This cruise must not be missed. See more..

We cruised with 4 in our party. The boat was adequately appointed for the task. The precruise information was helpful and should be noted before travelling. The staff on board were very informative and looked after the full boat of passengers very well. The food was excellent and was accompanied by wine and soft drinks, all included in the price of the cruise. The river is a hidden gem and the scenery was beautiful. I would highly recommend including this cruise in your West Coast Tasmanian experience. See more..

    Bonnet Island Experience image
we went on this tour recently, after debating whether to do it that particular night due to weather concerns, we need not have worried it was a perfect night. Rhuben was our tour guide and he was fantastic, so friendly and enthusiastic and very knowledgable. the boat driver was also great (sorry forgot his name) this tour is well worth doing and is a lot of fun. we saw quite a few penguins on the night, and didnt feel rushed at all about our time on the island. Loved the boat it really gets up and goes, my grandson took so many photos of the trip to the entrance to the harbour, (not possible to photograph on the island) the drinks and snacks were very welcome too and the hot chocolate at the end. would thoroughly recommend the trip to anyone visiting strahan, and dont worry about the weather it changes again so quickly! thanks for a great night rhuben you obviously love your job. Great sailing experience on a beautifully restored Danish fishing boat. Good for kids, families, couples, singles - young and old. The kids helped hoist the sails plus us adults also got a chance as well. Lovely hosts who own the boat, restored her, sail from Denmark to Australia, make a very nice cup of tea and explain the boat, the restoration, their sailing experiences, the local geography and history. Very economical price for a wonderful experience. Can do a short couple of hours sail, hire her for a day with food provided, overnight or a couple of days with crew and food. See more..
  12. 5.0 West Coast Yacht Charters - Day Tour (28 reviews)
    - Amazing wilderness experience

West Coast Yacht Charters - Day Tour image
We stayed overnight on the Stormbreaker yacht up the Gordon River with our two friends. Skipper Trev, Rob and Raff were wonderful hosts. We left at 1pm, had afternoon tea to the sultry commentary from Trev and sailed into the Gordon River around 5pm. We were served a two course dinner while motoring up the Gordon River watching the majestic forest pass by. A truly spectacular place. This yacht has permission to go the furthest up the Gordon River of any charter vessels as it picks up rafters that have completed the Franklin river the next morning. The yacht has two double rooms (one a bit smaller than the other) where we slept. While we had the yacht to ourselves the afternoon before, it was very squeezy coming back with an extra 30 onboard and all their gear. I wouldn’t stop that from anyone experiencing this for themselves… truly amazing. See more..

    Huon River Cruises image
A sensational small boat experience. Room for about 9-10 people so extremely good. Terrific vessel - La Drone in an old wooden boat and this just enhances the experience. We enjoyed a beautiful glass of Huon Valley wine with a great little platter for two. All locally sourced ingredients. Taylor is an excellent captain and cruise director. The scenery sells itself! A photographer’s dream. Bird life, vineyards, boats, houses - everything you could imagine on the river. See more..

The cruise was delightful! An excellent boat, friendly helpful staff, good food and an excellent commentary. The cruise took us across Macquarie Harbour to the Gates of Hell, then to Sarah Island where we left the boat for an entertaining tour of the former penal settlement, then we travelled up the Gordon River where we had a short walk in the heritage-listed Rain forest. On our return to Strahan, we visited a factory making and selling items made from Huon Pine See more..

A very pleasant tour which beautifully showcases the stunning local scenery. Enjoyed fresh scones with jam and cream for morning tea off Poverty Point and delicious lunch in the sparkling and gorgeous Dover Bay. Learnt about local shipwrecks and salmon industry from our lovely guide. Spotted some seals and an eagle’s nest near Big Roaring Beach. Great food and service and a very well appointed and comfortable boat - all in all a wonderful experience. See more..

Picture your self and a group of friends gliding over the mirror like Huon River in the grand old lady, the M.V Nancy. She is nearly 100 years old and beautifully restored. Her huon pine planks have stood the test of time. She is powered by an electric motor which is ecofriendly and quiet so that it does not disturb the abundant wildlife. You quietly cruise up and down the river and through the historic Egg Island Canal dug by hand over 100 years ago.People on board were busily snapping with their cameras as well as mingling with other passengers.Conversation was easy, due to the quiet engine. The crew both on board and ashore were very knowledgeable and friendly .Safety was paramount. We were greeted with a welcome cuppa and bikkies on return. Most people with a disability should not have a problem making this delightful trip, but should talk to staff before hand .It was a great experience, highly recommended .I can't wait to go again.Thank you to the Nancy crew.
