5.0Marion's Lookout Walk(246 reviews) - Worth the effort. Spent More than 3 hours Hiking Trails
While a little tougher than some of the other walks around the park, it a definite if you have a reasonable level of fitness and don’t mind some rock scrambling. From the start at Ronnie Creek the button grass plains, pandani gullies and wombats make the first km or so of boardwalk interesting. Heading on up past Crater Lake and it’s boat shed is a beautiful location then on up to the lookout itself. Stunning views in every direction await at the top and depending on the time, plenty of snow too. It was wet when we climbed and a little slippery, but the tracks a well formed and there is a chasing to hold onto through the steepest part. I’d suggest good walking shoes/boots an windproof warm gear. A bit of work but so worth it.See more..
5.0Three Capes Track(229 reviews) - Amazing and exhilarating walk Spent More than 3 hours Hiking Trails
Simply a fantastic four days for experienced hikers and newbies alike. The track is superbly constructed and maintained, and takes you through bushland, along clifftops, over a mountain and finishes on a beach. You need a reasonable level of fitness to complete, but nothing extreme. Not having to carry your own stove or tent helps too! The huts are very comfortable and kitchen/communal areas have everything you need. We loved the welcome each evening by the (very passionate!) rangers who talked through the history, local ecosystems, and what we could expect on the next days walking.See more..
5.0The Overland Track(127 reviews) - Epic multiday hike Spent More than 3 hours Hiking Trails
Look it takes some planning, and cost some $$ to get all the right gear if you don't already have alpine hiking gear.. But it's so worth it!! I already wish I was back there, or had an extra day to just enjoy the beauty of nature. The side tracks are fantastic too - I couldn't do all of them unfortunately due to my iffy knees. We were extremely lucky with weather, as we had almost 7 day straight perfect weather (some drizzle, but only for an hour or so). Most people skip the Narcissus Hut - Cynthia Bay section, and take the ferry.. but I actually found this section impressive, because the track looked little used.. I'll definitely be back to do the side tracks I missed.See more..
4.5Fluted Cape Trail(122 reviews) - nice gentle walk before going on the coastline wilderness cruise Spent More than 3 hours Hiking Trails
Located at the eastern end of the picturesque Adventure Bay, the Fluted Cape circuit is a fantastic 3 hour 6km return walk taking in crystal blue waters, remarkable coastal cliffs and abundant wildlife. The trail is steep in sections with some substantial climbing required to reach the Fluted Cape summit at 272m.See more..
4.5Cataract Gorge(93 reviews) - Well worth a visit, adults and children alike Spent 2-3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Hiking Trails • Scenic Walking Areas
We were visiting Australian relatives in Launceston and they recommended the gorge and we weren’t disappointed. On arrival from the car park the path round to the left and cross over the suspension bridge, stop in at the cafe for a coffee and scone. The peacocks are brilliant. Then continue on down alongside the river to the entrance into the gorge and the old iron bridge in Launceston, cross the bridge and then turn right following the path back into gorge working your way up the hill. It’s quite steep in parts but well worth the climb. You’ll eventually find yourself back at the entrance to the park. Finally, take a return journey on the old chair lift and cross over the gorge and back again, $20 adult return or $15 for OAPs. Highly recommended.See more..

4.5Cape Queen Elizabeth(35 reviews) - A fine walk but not well marked Spent More than 3 hours Hiking Trails
Offering a plethora of different landscapes to discover and explore, the 12km return Cape Queen Elizabeth Trail is a great Bruny Island day walk. 4.5Shadow Lake Circuit Walk(23 reviews) - Truly Amazing walk in Tasmanian wilderness Spent More than 3 hours Hiking Trails
We took this walk with my wife while on a roadtrip across Tasmania. The walk takes of from Lake St.Clair and takes about 8hours, remember to pack food + water with you and good shoes. While on the walk you can see Marsh/cold rainforest/highland/mountain and dry plains. The walk mixes amazing amount of different terrain and is a truly authentic take on the Tasmanian nature. We saw only couple of walabies and a tiger snake (next to shadow lake on the rocks) Do not miss this walk if your a nature enthusiast traveling in Tasmania. The trail is well marked you dont need a map or navigation expertise to do it.See more..
4.5Crater Lake Circuit(21 reviews) - Wonderful cross section of Cradle Mountain Hiking Trails
Crater Lake is the other great walk at Cradle Mountain that most visitors will be easily able to manage. It’s a 3 hour circuit from Ronny Creek, though it best to cut the last section across open grassland short, and finish at Dove Lake and get the bus back from there. The track climbs steadily up to crater lake through grasslands, rainforest, past a lovely waterfall, and then peaks at the saddle above Dove and Crater Lakes. From here you ca wind back down to Dove lake, or divert up to Marions. This diversion is steep and involves a bit of a rock scramble, but is well worth it if the weather is clear. If it’s clouded in , don’t bother. Beware, there are no facilities anywhere on this walk until the Dove Lake bus drop off.See more..

5.0North East Rail Trail(15 reviews) - Overnight Stay at the free park Spent More than 3 hours Biking Trails • Hiking Trails
The drive from Launceston to Scottsdale was spectacular. The next morning we left from the old railway station for a 30 minute ride. It was beautiful and we enjoyed the downhill gradient. After riding through a variety of environments we turned around and pushed back on the uphill.. not as much fun See more..
4.5Cape Hauy(14 reviews) - Great hike with views most of the way Hiking Trails
This hike had lots of stairs, but worth it with views most of the way. The track is right next to the mill creek campground where we stayed! Great lookout at the end! Very worth it! See more..
Oldgrowth and Rainforest, Sub alpine heathland, a mountaintop and small waterfall. This track is well constructed and zig zags through the sometimes steep terrain. Most people with a moderate level of fitness will complete this walk in around 3-4 hours including breaks. Beginning at the car park at Huon Bush Retreats, the track climbs gently for about 15 minutes through young and old-growth forest to the rainforest viewing platform. A further 45 minutes steep climb up the escarpment cliffs takes you onto the sub-alpine heathland plateau and "Flat Rock". From here you can enjoy spectacular 360 degree views towards Bruny Island and the Southwest World Heritage Area. From Flat Rock it is a further 30 - 45 minutes along the plateau to Mt Misery summit. Return with optional side track to a small waterfall. Access to walking tracks is covered by your tariff if you are an overnight guest. For day visitors, we ask for a donation to contribute to maintenance of the tracks and roads.See more..
4.5Pelverata Falls Track(10 reviews) - Great track to explore Spent More than 3 hours Canyons • Hiking Trails • Waterfalls
A good 3 hour return walk. First 3/4 of the track is good and easy to navigate the last bit of the track is very rocky and steep. But well worth it once you reach the base of the falls. You can see to waterfalls along this walk Pelverata & Slippery Falls. Parking is available at the start of the walking track. See more..
5.0Kelly Basin(9 reviews) - Very interesting trail Spent More than 3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails
During our stay in Queenstown we followed Mount Jukes road over Jukes Pass till we got to a crossing with a sign "Bird River Walking Track". If you have 4WD car or the conditions are good, you can follow the Track for another 5 km. Otherwise it is better to leave the the car at the crossing and follow the track. The trails joins the old railway which led once to old settlement of Pillinger. Today the forest claimed everything back. But everywhere are traces of the old settlement to be found such as parts of old bridges, the pier, chimneys or parts of the railway tracks or the old railway carriage. See more..
4.0Lobster Falls(9 reviews) - Short walk, with difficulties. Spent 2-3 hours Hiking Trails
I enjoyed this walk, a solo activity by a 26yo female. According to my S health app it took 1 hour 1 minute of walking activity return (not including time spent at falls) The track is relatively easy for the majority but becomes more difficult in the last 10 minutes ( I slipped four times - this is considered above average for me) I took the first track down to the upper falls, and would advise against this unless you are confident with your footing as it doesn't come out to a "ledge" as such but a sloped rock where footing is difficult. But further along the track is the main falls, which can be viewed safely. I would say these falls are suitable for children over 7 or so as I also passed a family with small children and I felt bad for them given how difficult the track does become. A nice swimming spot in warmer months, but be careful of others enjoying the sun as I also saw a snake while on the path.See more..

4.0Larmairremener tabelti(8 reviews) - Lovely, easy introduction to Lake St Clair Spent 1-2 hours Hiking Trails
This is one of 3 short walks from the Visitor Centre and it's worth doing them all as a 90 minute circuit. Along the way you will see rivers, ferns, rainforest, tall trees, and if you're lucky, echidnas and platypus. The first part up to Watersmeet is wheelchair friendly and anyone can manage this, but after that the track becomes narrow and little more challenging. Skip Platypus Bay if you want to save time, as it as the least interesting part of the walk. A great introduction to the park for any level of fitness.See more..
4.5Lake Lilla Track(7 reviews) - A nice alternative Hiking Trails

4.5Lake Chisholm(6 reviews) - Pure magic Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails • Geologic Formations
This was my favourite place on the Tarkine Circuit Drive. The path to the lake takes you through some truly beautiful rainforest. With the massive fallen logs in the forest, the colorful fungi, the mosses clinging to trees and rocks and the vast number of tree ferns it really is a magical place. The lake is surprisingly large and is said to be one of the best examples of a flooded sinkhole in Australia. Its waters are very still and cold, and I'm sure very deep. Platypus are said to live here but we didn't see any. It is an easy walk from the carpark, at most half an hour each way.See more..
The loop is now open! We enjoyed doing a circuit - went up the older track and came back by the newer track. It gives a great view of the bay. Just be cautious at the top where the stone walkway is - we almost trod on a snake to the side of the track. He moved away fast under the rocks that form the path. Not a reason not to do the walk, but just a word of caution...See more..

4.5Marriotts Falls(3 reviews) - A Gem in the rough. Hiking Trails • Waterfalls
Tbh it is prettier than Russell Falls. But at the time was just after the floods. Stunning. Full of fungi. The track follows the river, then up through meadow and then a track. Just follow the arrows. It was muddy under foot in some places. Someone removed the sign so turn right after the bridge. There is a blue sign with red arrow. Towards a track. I have a 2 fwd drive and made it easy. See more..
5.0Mount Murchison Track(2 reviews) - Considered to be one of the most amazing hikes in Tasmania Hiking Trails
Mount Murchison Track is a must do hiking trail in Tasmania. It boasts picturesque 360-degree view of the rugged West Coast.See more..
Another one of Tasmania's 60 Great Walks. It is described as a 4.5 - 6 hour return, Grade 3 walk. We found it a 5klm steady climb and although not that steep a rather difficult climb with many rocky areas and rough walking track. The walker is rewarded with many views of cascades and access to a number of swimming holes along the way. The disappointment being one misses a lot of the beauty by being distracted with the effort of concentrating on the path so as to not fall or be injured. The final reward is a spectacular waterfall though would only recommend to those with some hiking experience and reasonable level of fitness. We only made it the base of the falls and did not climb the steep cliff to the top and it took us 6.5 hours to do the return trip.See more..
The walk took about 3 1/2hrs which starts from Little Blue Lake car park. We spent a long time on top admiring the view and the rock. I was pleased to see so many species of orchids including a rock orchid. The only obstacle was a small creek too wide to jump, so socks and shoes came off, I'm sure with less rainfall it won't be running so well. A very enjoyable walk, reasonably well signposted.See more..
4.5Mt William Walkway(2 reviews) - Easy walk, massive reward Hiking Trails The guide book says it's 45 minutes, but at a decent pace it's about 20. Pretty easy all the way up, and when you crest the top and get to the big boulder after the satellite dish you have a 360 degree view of Tassie, to the highlands and out to the sea. If you've got a car/van to get you to the car park at the bottom, you've got no excuse for not going. On a pleasant day, you'll be fine doing this in running shoes, it's not a proper hike. I was wearing shorts, it's a pretty gentle incline all the way and it's well marked. Don't forget a little bit of water and if you're feeling indulgent a little bit of fruit to eat at the top doesn't go amiss either.See more..
The special nature of the 'Milkshakes' meant they'd been protected from logging for many years. Unfortunately in 2016 major bushfires raged through the area and the devastation they caused is still very visible. Recovery has started but it will be a long time before the tall eucalypts again dominate the landscape. There are two walks here: we did the much shorter Forest Walk rather than the Milkshakes lookout walk. The understorey was looking good with lots of healthy tree ferns. Above that, plenty of burnt-out stumps, with some sprouting new growth, plus some occasional forest giants that managed to survive the inferno. And we did see a pademelon that scampered under the boardwalk as we walked above. Also, there are good picnic facilities and toilets here.See more..
5.0Climies Track(2 reviews) - Climies Track on Tasmania's West Coast is a fantastic 4WD track Hiking Trails

3.0Dove Canyon Circuit(2 reviews) - Wear sturdy shoes Hiking Trails After completing Marions lookout the previous afternoon we decided to tackle Dove Canyon the next morning. You must wear sturdy shoes as in many places, you are scrambling up rock faces, or walking through mud/loose rocks. When we got to the canyon we couldn’t find a path to actually get down there(as there was little signage on the way), which was disappointing. At times, you are wondering if you are on the right track so you just make sure you follow the white poles placed in the area. We only saw 1 person doing this track, so there is definitely less tourists on this route. It took us 2 hours in sneakers to complete this track. You need a good level of fitness/flexibility for this walk. See more..

3.0Clarks Cliffs(1 review) - Good for fungi Nature & Wildlife Areas • Hiking Trails • Forests

4.0Adamsons Falls(1 review) - Large cascades National Parks • Hiking Trails • Waterfalls
Well worth the mud and level of difficulty with fallen trees, etc. The sign says 4hrs return which is a fair approximation. There didn't appear much water flowing over it, but it's still a spectacular sight and worth the walk. As an added note, be prepared for all types of weather and wear hiking boots.See more..
The Leven Canyon Lookout Track is a strenuous circuit to 2 very nice lookouts, joined by a section including 697 steps. I highly recommend approaching it anti-clockwise so you descend the steps rather that climb them. From the carpark, take the path to your right, heading to Cruikshanks Lookout first. The crossover path is a short distance back up that track, to go down the 697 steps and visit Leven Canyon Lookout (or Edge lookout on some sites) before returning to the carpark. The tracks are well formed, but graded a level 3 hike given the degree of inclines Very rewardingSee more..
This is a bit of an adventure trail for walkers and mountain bikers wanting to do some exploring on a historic track. The trail is relatively isolated, not used extensively, riders and hikers should be aware it is not a managed track but is very off the beaten track. Sections of this trail are excellent and located in a beautiful environment, particularly in summer. There are links to Montezuma Falls and Williamsford thereby extending the cycling experience.See more..
