  9. 4.5 Podium Art (24 reviews)
    - A wonderful learning experience!
Spent < 1 hour Art Galleries
    Podium Art image
Podium Art is a purpose built gallery by owner using predominantly recycled materials . I consider it a poor man's gallery, as l didn't have the money to buy 1, so l had to build it myself. Podium Art is 1 man's work. It was built over a 6 year period. I built it to hang controversial art regarding our system. At present l have indigenous art from Arnhemland NT, l consider the indigenous art of Arnhemland some of the best, as they still use bush ochre and most of the art is very basic to understand. Everything else in the gallery is made on site. I mainly make tables and seating all for sale. All the timber used in furniture is recycled from old buildings I've demolished. All pieces are used in the gallery, when a piece is purchased it's cleaned up before delivery. Free delivery anywhere in Tasmania. Podium Art also sells coffee, plus cater for small groups , up to 20 people. Bookings made in advance. At present open Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. 9- See more..

    Burnie Regional Art Gallery image
I have to admit I struggled to locate the parking for this on my GPS and found street parking instead and then walked to the gallery. Everything is set up for Covid - you sign in, sanitise and you are free to wander through. The gallery is not a big gallery but I found the artwork inside intriguing. Some of it I really enjoyed ... other pieces made me wonder how the artist thinks. THAT is what I love about art... the differences, the nuances, the uncertainty. There are items for sale in the entry area. See more..

  23. 5.0 Elemental Artspace (6 reviews)
    - Art for everyone
Spent < 1 hour Art Galleries • Lessons & Workshops
    Elemental Artspace image
I love this place. Found it - and Deloraine - on the last day of our holiday on the way back to Devonport. I wish we had found it a couple of days earlier. The whole main street is alive with cafes and wonderful art and craft stores with works by local artists. Some of the work is stunning, some is woeful, but that's what's great about it. Everyone will love something different. Having survived nearly three weeks of holiday with virtually no souvenirs, left the Artspace laden. Souvenir is the wrong word; certainly there are a lot of Tassie-themed trinkets, but there are also things that you would buy whether you were on holiday or not. Looking forward to returning. Forestvale Design Centre image
We called in not knowing what to expect and were pleasantly surprised. The bloke behind the counter welcomed us and offered us coffee and cake. While this was being prepared we wandered through the display of art, craft and design by artisans from Bruny Island, Canada and elsewhere. The brewed coffee was good, the blueberry cake was superb and the view down the valley to the d'Entrecasteaux Channel was lovely. David, our host, gave us some interesting information on how he built the design centre, the artwork and the wildlife. I'd recommend it. See more..

We were recommended visiting Gravelly Beach Metal Works by a local. It was easy to find given the huge metal animals sitting on the front lawn. Inside you wander around the yard. Viewing the many cut outs shaped like dogs, cats and other animals. We think this business must get plenty of local trade as we notice sim many places in the Tamar region with their work. - Delightful Art Gallery in Cygnet - Huon Art
    Art Galleries
My partner and I found this gallery which is located in the main street of Cygnet - a very pretty town near Hobart. The gallery is refined and had a large number of impressive works from local artists on display. The gallery owner, Carlene, was approachable and very knowledgeable, taking her time when showing us about the gallery. We ended up buying some really nice pieces by a Tasmanian artist (Steve Howie), which Carlene immediately shipped to us back in Brisbane - Thanks Carlene! The gallery itself is located near some really nice bakeries, restaurants and coffee spots. As far as art galleries go, Huon Art should be a priority for anyone looking to invest in high quality art, or for anyone wanting to browse and appreciate it. See more..

  36. 5.0 Mural House (1 review)
    - IF YOU LOVE OUTSIDER ART DONT MISS THIS!
    Spent 1-2 hours Art Galleries
Eat your art out MONA! This art experience might not be what the typical museum lover goes for, but to the creative being who hath no judgment on what a mind can conceive, and an appreciation for the way out, this is Wonderland! Mark has painted almost every inch of his home (bathtub and toilet included) with images given to him...some ancient memories, some mythological forms from other dimensions, some from Goddess knows where! And the artist gives a tour of it all, explaining inch by inch what one is looking at. As entertaining to a therapist as to a theologian as to a cosmic trickster...And some for sale! As a collector of the odd and weird, I came home with a suitcase full. Be warned however, the master has his own way of giving his tour and one must not interrupt or ask questions until he is done! I went back twice to make sure as a seer, not one dimension went unnoticed! See more..
