5.0Cradle Mountain(1.254 reviews) - Ya Pulingina Spent More than 3 hours Mountains • Nature & Wildlife Areas • Forests • Waterfalls
Glad that we took the advice of the Visitor Information Centre in Hobart and purchased the Seniors Annual Park Pass, it gave us access to the Park and the shuttle service. We enjoyed the drive from Waratah to the Cradle Mountain Visitor Centre and then the scenery from the shuttle bus and again at each stopping point. I commented to my wife that its a place that we should have visited 20 years ago in order to spend time and enjoy the walking trails and the varied scenery and lake systems. What we did see was some wonderful ecology, moorland that was very similar in appearance to that seen in Ireland & Scotland, trees covered in moss and crystal clear streams. Wonderful location and a place were we could easily spend time and feel as one with nature.See more..
4.5Russell Falls(672 reviews) - Charge your camera battery! Waterfalls
Little gem, takes a bit of driving (1.5hrs) from Hobart but worth the effort if you’re on the way to stay somewhere north or west. We walked up from the visitors centre - where we purchased a national park pass valid for a few weeks. (Much more economical option than buying one off passes, if you plan on visiting a few great parks). The jungle was luscious and relaxed environment, really soothing. Our cameras worked overtime. The Russell Falls waterfall was easy to access at ground level. We decided to continue the 10001 steps up to the Horseshoe Falls, which was also very spectacular. Suggest walking back along the inland dirt trail to the Visitors Centre. It is also really scenic and quiet. Final tip - drive to the washroom facility if needed - it’s a fair hike after 10001 steps!See more..
A few minutes from Strahan village is this must see 40 minute return bushwalk. The path is beautifully maintained with some sections carpeted walkways suitable for wheelchair access. Having completed some was at Lake St Clair this walk is not only easier but more beautiful and interesting. Unlike too many Australian attractions this wonderful attraction is free of charge.See more..
You Can Hear the Waterfall from the Carpark that is all the incentive you need to go down the track. All down hill to get to the falls through gorgeous Rain forest Ferns and trees. And it is worth the walk. the Falls are spectacular. the walk back is uphill but not that tough. this is about 10klms off the A3 Highway and really worth seeing.See more..
4.5Nelson Falls(288 reviews) - Don’t Miss It! Waterfalls
Beautiful waterfall! You’ll walk through a short but amazing rainforest to reach the falls. The forest felt so peaceful and refreshing, I felt like I could just stay there for a long time. Don’t miss this stop! I almost did and I’m so glad I decided to stop over I enjoyed this so much, and I’m really thankful for a beautiful place like this.See more..
4.5Liffey Falls(257 reviews) - Worth the Walk! Waterfalls
The falls were beautiful even in February with not much rain. We intended to walk from the top car park down to the falls but couldn't find the road. We were not the only ones so I am not sure if a sign has fallen? We did find the car park at the bottom though and resigned ourselves to the 3 hour return walk to the falls. It took us just over 2 hours with stops and was definitely worth the effort. The paths are well done and the forest and scenery just magical.See more..
My review on Russell Falls includes this waterfall and it is worth it! We were the only ones at the waterfall, take the time to take in the sounds and the surroundings that this waterfall has to offer. It is amazing how the water falls from.both sides and come together, nature is surely amazingSee more..
4.5Guide Falls Reserve(141 reviews) - Accessible and beautiful! Nature & Wildlife Areas • Waterfalls
One of the easiest waterfalls to get to! Suitable for all ages and a short drive from Burnie. Check out photos and a full review here: http://tassieadventures.wordpress.com/2014/08/28/guide-falls/See more..
A beautiful reserve. Walk under the railway and alongside a bubbling creek. If there has been rain, the track can be a bit muddy. A wide track to the footbridge then a hikers trail - narrow and no hand rail. Along a bit and down a few steps to the first waterfall - lovely. Back up the steps and along just a little further is the second waterfall that really roars with its flow. A lovely excursion. Wish we’d brought the bbq and picnic.See more..
The falls are about a 10 Km drive past the Pyengana Farm Gate Cafe. Then a 15 min walk. Easy down hill walk to the falls on a level well graded path. The falls are quite high and on our visit we saw lots of water. Bathroom available near the parking area. Very worthwhile visit.See more..
4.0Snug Falls(51 reviews) - Love the location Spent 2-3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Waterfalls
We were very fortunate to have been staying right above the falls. On our last day we hiked down to the falls. The track was a bit rough and in some parts very wet and muddy. I particularly like tracks like that. The reward at the bottom is well worth the hike- beautiful waterfall surrounded by so much greenery.See more..
Sheltered and fairly flat, easy walk to see some nice forest, nice waterfalls and fantastico wallabies. It’s around 30 minutes walk, starting from the nearby Cradle Mountain Lodge. The trees fully sheltered us from some light rainfall, but we were also lucky to have plenty blue sky patches so there was enough light. Make sure you spend some time inspecting the hollow bases of large trees as you step along the great walking pass because, as we discovered, it’s where the worlds BIGGEST wombats tend to take a nap. Lovely simple walk and it’s all free.See more..
4.5Lady Barron Falls(37 reviews) - Worth the extra walking Spent 1-2 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas • Waterfalls
Walks from Mount Field visitors centre you can view Russell, Horseshoe and Lady Barron Falls. Lady Barron is the furthest and can be seen in isolation with a 40 minute walk or can be seen as part of the combined 3 Falls walk which takes about 2.5 hours. Each water fall is unique and I recommend seeing all three. Lady Barron does involve quite a few steps so reasonably fitness levels are required. However their are plenty of places to stop and rest. No bathrooms available once you leave the visitor centre.See more..
A must to see while staying at the Caravan park. Wear sturdy shoes for the walk to the falls, slightly steep walk back up, take your time. Just off the main street. Happy we came.See more..
Large fall but not a lot of water. Very accessible to road and definitely worth the stop. Very peaceful as you are in the middle of the jungle.See more..
Definitely recommend this walk to locals & travellers. I completed this walk solo. The walking track is easy to follow. But! you will need to google the address & use a gps as there is only one sign at the last km of driving to this location. The track suits moderate to fit walkers. Can flood after heavy rain towards the last part - but don't let that stop you! The rainforest is so lush, many ferns. Some fungi for the keen eye & lots of green coverage. Wear warm clothes in winter - you may be lucky like me & get snowed on ! :) magical walk. 1.15hr return. See more..
4.5Halls Falls(20 reviews) - Lots to see Waterfalls
We enjoyed this walk through the rain forest with the tall trees and tree ferns and even came across an echidna which was an added bonus. Loved the water fall and the weir was interesting. Good track for average fitness levels.See more..
A lovely walk leads to this beautiful falls. The fire has removed some steps meaning you have to be careful but the view is well worth the walkSee more..
4.5Arve Falls(18 reviews) - Short walk to falls Waterfalls
20 - 30 minute (return) walk from the car park to a viewing platform of the falls and the descent to the valley floor below. The walk takes you across low alpine plant area and some larger trees - plaques describe the plants and source of water. Interesting but not "a must". We didn't drive on to do the walk to the lake, so unable to compare the Arve Falls walk with the longer lake walk. Access is 12 km of gravel road from the sealed Geeveston - Tahune Forest Airwalk road. See more..
Relatively easy walk into the falls. Takes about an hour on a well formed track but was especially muddy in places (in July) so make sure you wear suitable footwear. Slightly steep and rocky in places but other parts have board walk so mixed surfaces. The falls themselves are beautiful, as was the river crossing on the way. There are even fossils in the rocks at the base of the falls. Well worth a visit.See more..
4.5Bridal Veil Falls(12 reviews) - Beautiful waterfalls Spent More than 3 hours Waterfalls
My boyfriend and i went here about 3 weeks ago, just after there had been heavy rain, as we wanted to see the falls in full flood. We were successful and were most definetly not let down! We found that getting to the starting track was a little bit difficult because of how google maps told us to get there, however after reading some online reviews we found the easiest way there was through Lemonthyme Lodge. If you park in the day time parking area there is a road directly opposite it, follow that, it goes past some of the lodges. The track turns into a 4wd track, there are a couple boom gates along it and there are signs to the falls. The track to the Bridal Veil Falls is a round loop and on the way is also the Champagne Falls, which is a must see.See more..
4.5Pelverata Falls Track(10 reviews) - Great track to explore Spent More than 3 hours Canyons • Hiking Trails • Waterfalls
A good 3 hour return walk. First 3/4 of the track is good and easy to navigate the last bit of the track is very rocky and steep. But well worth it once you reach the base of the falls. You can see to waterfalls along this walk Pelverata & Slippery Falls. Parking is available at the start of the walking track. See more..
4.5Dip Falls(10 reviews) - Worth the detour! Waterfalls
This beautiful waterfall sits deep in the woods, but there is a picnic and bbq area, with toilets nearby. The road south from the Bass Hwy turns into gravel about for the last few kilometres. It's signposted, and near Mawbanna you'll pass Blue Hills Honey (about 8km before the falls), which could be added as a nice stop. There are over 200 steps down to the viewpoint, but there is a wheelchair accessible viewpoint on the far side of the bridge from where you get a good view, too. It's signposted and a small parking area is close by. About 1km further along the road you'll come to The Big Tree. Easily walkable from the Dip Falls, but there is also a small parking area.See more..
Check with the Scottsdale Visitor Centre, I am fairly sure this walk is unaccessible now due to Forestry resource cutbacks.See more..
4.0Mathinna Falls(6 reviews) - A Lovely Forest Drive and Great Waterfalls Spent < 1 hour Waterfalls
It is a beautiful drive from Mathinna to the falls, it is signed and the surface of the road is not to bad. Near the falls there is a small car park and then it is about a 20 minute walk along a delightful forest trail. The falls and the surrounding area are wonderfully peaceful surrounded by towering trees and exotic ferns.See more..
4.0Stitt Falls(4 reviews) - Easy short walk to Stitt Falls Waterfalls
With a very short walk from the road, and a purpose built look out to view the waterfall. The waterfall drops approximately 5 - 8 meters, and is best appreciated from the base of the waterfall. There are a few picnic tables situated throughout the area, take a picnic and enjoy a quite location.See more..
4.5Marriotts Falls(3 reviews) - A Gem in the rough. Hiking Trails • Waterfalls
Tbh it is prettier than Russell Falls. But at the time was just after the floods. Stunning. Full of fungi. The track follows the river, then up through meadow and then a track. Just follow the arrows. It was muddy under foot in some places. Someone removed the sign so turn right after the bridge. There is a blue sign with red arrow. Towards a track. I have a 2 fwd drive and made it easy. See more..
4.0Mavista Falls(3 reviews) - Mavista Nature Walk Waterfalls
Mavista Nature Walk (Rain Forest Walk) is a lovely walk signposted just off Resolutions Rd at Adventure Bay, Bruny Island. Drive past the Raspberry Farm and as the the road splits stay right. There is parking space on the road verge about 300m from the turn off. The Nature Walk takes you through old rain forest next to an active stream. See large ferns and mossed tree stumps. We saw an assortment of mushrooms. The walking path is easily walked. At the end of the path is a small barrier. Stop here! The track appears to continue which it does, but gets very difficult and muddy. There are no water falls on this 30 min walk. However you get lovely creek and rain forest. I loved the walk. One of the best rain forest walks I’ve done. The scenery and sounds of the area are special. Highly recommend this walk. No bathroom. Gravel road driving for about 3km once you turn off from the main road at Adventure Bay. The turn off is we’ll sign posted.See more..
4.5Arm Falls(2 reviews) - Nice walk off the beaten track Spent < 1 hour Waterfalls Located in Mersey Forest not far from Mole Creek is this out of the way circular walk that follows the Arm River which is a tributary of the Mersey River. The track is fairly overgrown in places which can make the going a bit difficult. There is lots of ferns and bush along the walk and several good views of the river before arriving at a small but worthwhile waterfall. If you want to avoid most of the bush bashing turn left at the first junction and this will take you along a better formed path straight to the falls. For the circuit allow 30-40 minutes. There is also an educational track here but it was closed when we visited. Plenty of parking and accessed by a short but well formed dirt road.See more..
4.0Ferntree Falls(2 reviews) - Good after rain Waterfalls
Can be seen from the road on the right hand side and within a short distance to the road but no formed track. Park once you get to the houses, you will be able to hear it. Lovely falls with a 5-10metre drop.See more..
The track is marked with pink ribbons which helps, a little overgrown in places. No more than two hours return and be careful at the falls as the rocks are quite slippery. Cover up as there are leeches here too.See more..
This was on a highlighted waterfalls site, but I struggle to determine how someone found it. Drive about 1km down the rough gravel Lockward Creek Road from Talunah Rd, and it's hidden on the right just before the Dunhams Road junction. No signage at the road, but if you look carefully, you will see a vague entrance to a bush walking path, and once you break through, a more evident path presents. You can hear the falls, so follow to what is quite a rewarding sight, albeit very "natural"See more..
Parking a a bit limited, but worthwhile to enjoy this short, well formed path to Oldaker Falls near Burnie Its less than 1km return, an easy 10 minutesSee more..
It took longer than expected and we didn't walk to the bottom of Quaile Falls, but visited middle, lower and the top of Quaile Falls, with lower Falls being lovely and worth a visit itself. The track used ribbons as guidance and it was quite slippery in parts.See more..
This is a wilderness one. About 1km off Castra Rd down Gaunts Road, there is a small sign on the left and a small pull-over just past this, to access an evident, but little used track down to Silver Falls. Notes as a Grade 3 hike, no argument, it was rough, but could clearly be spectacular if it had recent rainfallSee more..
4.0Adamsons Falls(1 review) - Large cascades National Parks • Hiking Trails • Waterfalls
Well worth the mud and level of difficulty with fallen trees, etc. The sign says 4hrs return which is a fair approximation. There didn't appear much water flowing over it, but it's still a spectacular sight and worth the walk. As an added note, be prepared for all types of weather and wear hiking boots.See more..
This one is not sign posted, but on the Tasmanian Waterfalls website, so you need to use G Maps to find where to pull over. Its a brief 2 minute walk to these waterfalls flowing under a simple bridge. Worth the explore if you are looking for a break from drivingSee more..
