    - Tamar Ridge winery and Turners Still house tour and tasting.
    Wednesday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Wineries & Vineyards
    Tamar Ridge Cellar Door image
We stayed for a couple of days in the accommodation within the vineyard (which was superb) and made a phone booking for a combined distillery and wine tasting followed by lunch session. The gin distillery experience was excellent with a very informative guide Alex. The gins were also very good. On to the tasting next door- there seemed to be two women working, one was friendly and helpful but sadly the other did not seem to be interested at all. When you work in hospitality this makes a huge difference to the experience of the customer. The wines were great and our food also too was high quality and locally sourced. The decking overlooking the vines and out to the Tamar river is beautiful. See more..

Every Man and His Dog Vineyard image
Such a wonderful winery experience! Loretta (who is wonderful and hilarious) began by pouring our group of 12 a sparkling tasting, then grabbed a few more bottles and we headed off with her around the property. She talked us through the wine making process, but also shared a lot of her story of coming to own the winery, which was a great point of difference from other places we visited. A wonderful little winery with great personality and fabulous quality wine! See more..

    - Nicely bubbly
Wednesday: Spent 1-2 hours Wineries & Vineyards
    Jansz Tasmania Wine Room image
Right next door to Pipers Brook, which is handy if you are visiting around lunchtime, as Pipers do a great lunch board, but Jansz is only wine tasting and only sparkling wines at that. But if you like sparkling wine (I do) then this is the place for you. They only do 6 wines and you get to taste them all. They were all superb. Hard to choose which one to buy, so we bought a selection. They will ship your wine home for you and it’s free shipping on orders over (I think) $150.00. The location is gorgeous and there are lovely benches and tables outside to sit and sample your wines, with lovely views over a little lake and geese and other birds wandering around. Very relaxing. - A great find
    Wednesday: 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Wineries & Vineyards
Velo Winery & Cellar Door image
We spotted Velo Wines on our way to Woolworths in Legana and thought it looked interesting so booked in for lunch a couple of days later. What a great choice we made, without doubt one of the best meals we had on our trip to Australia. Elegant, airy and modern, Timbre restaurant delivers delicious and innovative food and nothing is too much trouble for the kitchen if you have food allergies (which I do). Nor did they quibble about us splitting a main course and then the made a special dessert for me. If you dine there you get a discount on the purchase of any Velo wines from the Cellar Door but sadly we couldn't take advantage as we were flying later that day. But we loved the food, the staff were charming and the views of the vineyard a delight. See more..

    Swinging Gate Vineyard image
This Vineyard is is rated highly for a reason! From the down to earth and knowledgeable winemakers, Nellie the doggo, homely decor through to the wines themselves, this vineyard is hard to fault. We liked that Doug puts his own twist on grape varietal- tweaking the Chardonnay, offering natural wines and producing a luscious white wine from frontignac (usually used for muscat). Keeps the palate interested and offers a point of difference absolutely worth a visit! See more..

    Spring Vale Wines image
The winery is a friendly, welcoming place. Our first intention was to get lunch and we had initially dropped in to Devil's Corner vineyard, but were put off by the corporate sterility of the place and the high prices. A few miles down the road we saw Spring Vale and the signs for Mel's Place restaurant, a seperate business, which proved to be a far better choice. A comfortable feel and friendly welcome was backed up by excellent food. Our multiple refill pot of tea came with English China cups; making the drinking of it a fine experience. Across to the tasting room and the gratis sampling of some good wines. See more..

After a fairly lengthy wait for its arrival, my barramundi dish was perfection, my husbands sirloin also very good, supplemented by a shared serving of delicious roast pumpkin. Accompanying wines were also most enjoyable. Again there was a wait for dessert - my Christmas pudding parfait was delicious, my husband’s cheesecake was tasty but almost liquid - seemed not to have set. Still a very pleasant experience overall. See more..

This winery was a lot of fun to visit. The host (David) was very knowledgeable and his presentation was very enjoyable. It was clear that he really enjoyed his craft. The wine was excellent and we bought quite a few bottles. I also highly recommend the cider. See more..
