What a coincidence, we have visited both town where murals are a feature of the landscape; Chemainus on Vancouver Island, Canada and now Sheffield, Tasmania. Both had struggling economies and the murals kickstarted economic recovery. There seemed to be murals everywhere we looked in Sheffield, expertly painted and telling the history of the area, people that have lived there, events that have occurred and some of the natural attractions. So colourful and realistic. Raining when we arrived so drove slowly around town viewing many. Spotted some more in the late afternoon when the rain eased and, no doubt, there are many that we missed. Wonderful concept, creative minds and expertly painted; mural heaven. See more..

There are a couple of motorcycle hire businesses in Tasmania, but I'd bet none are as brilliant as Phil Ogden's Tasmanian Motorcycle Tours & Rentals. From our initial communication, to when we booked then had to cancel our original Tassie trip due to COVID lockdowns, to when we re-booked and this time made it to the island, every interaction was highly professional, surpassing our expectations. Phil was accessible, informative, patient, and generous. The motorcycles on offer are the best I've ridden, likely the best you'll find anywhere, including the king of adventure bikes: BMW's 1250 GS Rallye - a monster you can hire and ride once you stop drooling. Phil offers motorcycle gear like helmets, jackets, wet weather gear and more. His service is hard to fault... and then there's the island itself. Honestly, hire one of TMTR's bikes, take Phil's advice on potential routes and accommodation, and enjoy some of the best roads on the planet on some of its best bikes. Just do it. See more..

In the beautiful town of Ross, a real gem of a coffee shop. Filtered coffee is taking off in the city, and clearly has found a home in Ross! Here you will find tremendous care and attention given to the preparation of your order, and a story or two about the town. Well worth a detour if you have the time. See more..
