    - Connecting East and West

It is almost impossible for anyone staying in Hobart for any length of time not to cross the Tasman Bridge. It connects the East and West of Hobart. Memories are short, however, and it is possible that few people away from Tasmania will remember the disastrous accident when a bulk carrier crashed into the Tasman Bridge, resulting in the deaths of 12 people. The Lake Illawarra lost seven crewmen. The nation was shocked by this disaster, though it's doubtful that few of the thousands of people who cross theTasman Bridge every day pay it much attention. I was utterly disappointed at first, after a long drive with nothing much to see along the way. Then I decided to just read a little about it and magic happened when the sun lowered. It’s beautiful. So much history and easily missed but I’m glad I didn’t miss it. See more..

It was nice to walk over this bridge. Does sway when people are walking on it, or if someone is being silly and shaking it. But the view is quite nice from it and great photo shots. It is narrow just enough to allow 2 average size males to pass with one giving way. See more..

Wow! I was mesmerised by this beautiful old bridge which I believe is the third oldest bridge in Australia. I liked all the carvings and intricate details. Stairs are located on both sides either side of the bridge. See more..

Very cool bridge! Reminds me so much of the candle bridge in Rovaniemi Finland. Interesting name for it- Batman. It’s good that you can pull off just before the bridge for a photo opportunity and toilet if needed. See more..

This short Arthur River crossing is quite elevated, providing sensational views east & west of the rivers path. Its a one way bridge, so you can take your time crossing if there is no-one waiting on the other side. A small picnic area is at the end if you wish to take it in better See more..
