Phoenix Creations Spoon Carving Workshops image
Our spoon carving workshop was a definite highlight of our trip to Tassie. Dave was such an expert teacher who offered amazing tuition every step of the way. It was an incredible experience starting out with a log at the beginning of the day and ending up with a beautifully carved spoon at the end. Michelle's morning teas were also a highlight and interacting with this beautiful couple was a real treat. If you are into wood carving, I would also highly recommend the doing a sharpening workshop with Dave. I leant so much about how to sharpen and maintain my tools Thank you so much for sharing your expertise and for all your hospitality. We absolutely loved it. See more..

I love this place. Found it - and Deloraine - on the last day of our holiday on the way back to Devonport. I wish we had found it a couple of days earlier. The whole main street is alive with cafes and wonderful art and craft stores with works by local artists. Some of the work is stunning, some is woeful, but that's what's great about it. Everyone will love something different. Having survived nearly three weeks of holiday with virtually no souvenirs, left the Artspace laden. Souvenir is the wrong word; certainly there are a lot of Tassie-themed trinkets, but there are also things that you would buy whether you were on holiday or not. Looking forward to returning. Paddock to Garment image
Paddock to Garment takes alpaca and silk, produced predominantly from our own alpacas. Some special pieces include silk from my hand raised silk worms. I spin, dye and weave in the Studio in Cygnet, while our alpacas are happy in their paddocks two kilometres away. I work with colour & texture to create one-of-a-kind items to last a life time. Every piece is unique and handcrafted. Come and have a look. Be amazed by how stunning the combination of alpaca and silk is. See more..

The Agrarian Kitchen Cooking School is set on a 5-acre farm offering paddock-to-plate experiences in a 19th century schoolhouse at Lachlan, 45 minutes from Hobart in Tasmania’s Derwent Valley, Australia. The Agrarian Kitchen was established by Rodney Dunn and his wife, Séverine Demanet who moved from Sydney to Tasmania in July 2007 to transform the schoolhouse into Tasmania’s first hands-on, farm-based cooking school. Cooking classes commenced in November 2008. Set on five acres, The Agrarian Kitchen Cooking School includes a working farm and incorporates an extensive vegetable garden, orchard, berry patch and herb garden, all grown using organic principles. Also in residence are Berkshire pigs, Barnevelder chickens, milking goats, a flock of geese and honeybees. The Agrarian Kitchen Cooking School grows and uses heirloom varieties of fruit, vegetables and rare breed animals in its cooking experiences and also sources ingredients from local farmers, fishermen, gardeners and artisan producers. Cooking experiences are led by Rodney Dunn, former Food Editor of Australian Gourmet Traveller magazine and one-time apprentice to Australian chef, Tetsuya Wakuda, as well as a supporting cast of Tasmanian cooks and producers.
