  1. 5.0 Major Marine Tours - Kenai Fjords Cruise (7.186 reviews)
    - Our favorite one day adventure!

Major Marine Tours - Kenai Fjords Cruise image
Major Marine Tours delivered a memorable experience for our family of four. Captain Laura, Katrina, and the rest of the crew were informative, engaging, and enthusiastic. This team shared the history of the Fjords and shared in the excitement when we spotted Orcas, otters, sea Lions, humpback whales, puffins, eagles, etc. I highly recommend splurging for this day long tour since it may very well be the most memorable one of your trip. 2. 5.0 K2 Aviation (3.039 reviews)
    - Seriously Amazing
Sunday: 7:00 AM - 9:00 PM Sightseeing Tours • Air Tours
    K2 Aviation image
Its really important to note that the weather is a huge constraint on this activity. My boyfriend and I booked the flightseeing tour with glacier landing months in advance with of course no idea the weather. We got extremely lucky being the day of our flightseeing tour, was the only day of our entire trip that had clear skies. The flight was amazing, pilot Phillip was so nice and informative. He even took some amazing photos of us in front of the plane. I get motion sickness pretty easy but this was not an issue for me. Before boarding the flight, I asked if I could sit up front and the pilot said yes saying "its kind of a 'whoever asks first' can sit in the front". The front seat is most definitely the best view but they navigate the plane in a way where everyone gets a chance to see everything. K2 made our experience super relaxing and stress free. We stayed right in Talkeetna so we just simply walked to K2 aviation and essentially walks on the plane. See more..
  3. 5.0 Alaska Wildlife Guide LLC (2.972 reviews)
    - Fun Packed Week in Fairbanks Alaska
Sunday: Fishing Charters & Tours • Night Tours • Nature & Wildlife Tours • Kayaking & Canoeing • Day Trips
    Alaska Wildlife Guide LLC image
We, as a group of 18 neighbors, were lucky to have Dave, Tyler and Barbara as our drivers and guides for the Heritage Tour of Fairbanks one day; Chena Hot Springs and Northern Lights Tour another day: Aurora Viewing Cabin still another day: and finally for the Arctic Circle Trip. They packed a lot of vacation into one week for us. All were very attentive to our needs as an "active adult" (read senior) group! The information/narration along the way was excellent. They were always punctual when it came to picking us up at our lodge. Although we did not see the full Auroras, we did get a glimpse of them on the Arctic Circle Trip. All in all it was a great experience with Dave, Tyler and Barbara and would recommend Alaska Wildlife Guide for excursions in Fairbanks Alaska. Thank you! See more..

HAL Westerdam cruise up TracyArm was beautiful with an enjoyable lunch on our veranda. Although we were on the starboard (left) side, the captain turned ship 360 degrees , allowing everyone a view. Hot chocolate, appetizers and champagne offered on the bow. Initially hampered by fog, developed into a beautiful rain free day. See more..

    - A must to do experience!
    National Parks
    Kenai Fjords National Park image
We took an 8 hrs tour with Alaska Tour & Travel from Anchorage. We moved by bus, train and boat. The excursion was well organized, we saw plenty of wildlife (sea lions, seals, birds) nature (forests, lakes) and glaciers. Better go by bus and return by Alaska Express, across the hole peninsula! The boat was moved very close to the –ice covered- land, so we could a lot of pictures. Got close up with several of large glaciers and we experienced to watch -live- an ice melting (sounds like earthquake)! Amazing experience, do not miss it! Make sure that you will wear warm clothes and have a raincoat! See more..

    - Best activity we did in Alaska
Sunday: 7:00 AM - 9:00 PM Helicopter Tours • Adrenaline & Extreme Tours • Zipline & Aerial Adventure Parks • Climbing Tours • Hiking & Camping Tours
    MICA Guides image
We did glacier cruises, water rafting, hiking, bus tours, and glacier trekking in Alaska, and I want to say glacier trekking is the best. We got to step on the glacier, taste the ice, and drink the glacier water. We are a group of 14 people with young children and teens. Our guides, Kandel and Taylor, were very patient with us from the beginning to the end. They also provided educational information that the kids felt they were fascinating. We highly recommend MICA guides if you want something fun to do in Alaska. See more..
  12. 5.0 Nugget Falls (1.459 reviews)
    - Gorgeous views and easy hiking trail
    Waterfalls
    Nugget Falls image
This is very close to Juneau area. Very good access both hiking and parking. Easy access to glacier and hiking trails. Nugget falls is a must do. Easy flat hike to get right up to the glacier and falls. We went in April and there was still some ice and snow on the trail. We didn't have spikes or crampons but was easily done with hiking boots. Absolutely amazing views and you can literally walk right up to the falls. Great views even if you don't hike. The visitors center was closed and opens end of May. Parking lot is a great, dark place to view the Northern Lights. We saw a little of the lights at around midnight. See more..
  13. 5.0 Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve (1.398 reviews)
    - Stunning Glaciers
Bodies of Water • National Parks • Nature & Wildlife Areas
Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve image
The highlight of the trip was exploring the Glacier Bay for 9 hours. Our Alaska cruise sails to the Inside Passage of a series of waterways formed by glaciers. It’s a beautiful day visiting the national park to see gigantic snow cap mountains and huge glaciers. It’s wonderful to see bright blue icebergs rising out of the water. I was surprised to see the Margerie Glacier’s signature crack and pieces fall off across the waves. I was amazed by this clean, natural preserved national park. The Glacier Bay Park Rangers went onboard early morning. They spend the day aboard to answer questions, explain the scenery as the ship explore the Glacier Bay to appreciate the wonders of the national park. At the same time, the Park Rangers enforce the laws to the safety, cleanliness of the national park and assist to prevent disaster for guests. The full day tour at the bay is well worth it. Both the glaciers and the surrounding scenery are spectacular. The entire place was stunningly gorgeous. See more..

    Hoonah Travel Adventures image
This trip couldn't have been better. From the moment the shuttle collected us, to the moment they dropped us off again, the staff were friendly and keen to share their knowledge of the area and history surrounding it. Thanks to our eagle eyed guide, we were lucky enough to see a wild bear on a beach, before heading further out and finding a pod of very curious porpoises and a number of Humpback whales, including at least one with a calf. This trip exceeded our expectations and made for an incredibly enjoyable and memorable day. We got great value for money and would highly recommend this as an activity to anyone who is visiting Hoonah/Icy Strait Point. See more..

This was our second trip with Brady out to the Knik Glacier and it did not disappoint! We began our day with a little bit of sunshine that later became liquid sunshine. Brady was an amazing guide that adjusted our tour based upon the changing weather conditions; however, even with the rain, he never lost his enthusiasm. In fact, he actually became more enthusiastic with the rain!! The glacier was massive and the views were epic. I highly recommend this trip. See more..

We had an amazing time in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park thanks to St. Elias Alpine Guides! They were professional, well-organized and friendly and made our trip a very fun and memorable experience . We enjoyed ice climbing, exploring ice caves, touring the abandoned copper mill, and an airplane trip to the backcountry with Wrangell Mountain Air. The park is truly a unique place and having experienced guides who are so passionate about what they do makes for a truly unforgettable (and safe!) experience. We would recommend this guiding company to anyone who wants to see the breathtaking beauty and cool history of this remote part of Alaska. See more..

    - Skagway photo adventure
Sunday: 7:00 AM - 10:00 PM River Rafting & Tubing • Nature & Wildlife Tours • Photography Tours
    Rainbow Glacier Adventures LLC image
This was a Holland America photography tour out of Skagway, Alaska. Your guide was Dale Cunning. It was an excellent tour in a small group. Dale timed stops to avoid crowds at the popular sites. Over 3 hours we made about 10 stops at photographic stops most of which I would have missed on my own. Dale is helpful to assist everyone no matter what their level of experience. Itinerary will vary depending on weather conditions. We had good weather so we started out at Skagway grave yard and waterfall and up to white pass and just into the Yukon. Got lots of great photos! 21. 5.0 Cook Inlet (602 reviews)
    - Check this out on a map- it's huge.
    Bodies of Water
    Cook Inlet image
Cook Inlet goes from "Turnagain Arm" to the wide open Pacific. The "Arm" section goes inland but it's not really navigable; it's all mud flats. The Pacific side empties into the Pacific near Homer. No wonder Captain Cook thought that this body of water would take him across to the north Atlantic. See more..
  22. 5.0 Nova Alaska Guides (571 reviews)
    - Great Matanuska glacier tour, great company!
    Sunday: 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM Multi-day Tours • River Rafting & Tubing • Adrenaline & Extreme Tours • Climbing Tours • Day Trips
    Nova Alaska Guides image
Betsy, our tour guide was wonderful. She made the glacier hike a memorable experience for our 11 year old son and us. I would recommend Nova over Mica guides. We had a flat tire and missed our prepaid glacier hike with Mica guides. Mica had spots available on a later tour the same day but wanted us to pay $300 again to rebook. Be careful if you book with Mica in advance. They will take your money and throw their nonrefundable policy at you. Nova on the other hand gave us a 10% discount because after learning about the day we had without us even asking. Nova also does not charge full price for children under 12. Nova is a company with great customer service. Highly recommend them! See more..
  23. 5.0 Kroschel Films Wildlife Center (545 reviews)
    - An absolute must if you are in Haines or Skagway
    Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Kroschel Films Wildlife Center image
Quite simply, the Kroschel Films Wildlife Center absolutely moved me. Steve Kroschel is an independent film maker who has worked with Nat Geo, BBC, PBS and many others, bringing nature to the big screen. His love and dedication to preserving and conserving our natural world is contagious. A little outside of the box, Steve’s energy and enthusiasm creates an experience that is impossible to ignore. All the feels. It makes my heart happy to know that people like Steve and his crew (we met humble Patrick and bubbly Ivanka) are out there in the world. I left a bit teary eyed, I was so moved. If you are ever in Haines, Alaska…this is a must!!! It is educational in the “rightest” of ways. I am actually struggling to find the words to accurately describe the emotions that this experience and this wonderful human being created for me. Thank you!!! See more..
  24. 5.0 Takshanuk Mountain Trail by 4x4 (541 reviews)
    - Fantastic
    4WD, ATV & Off-Road Tours
Takshanuk Mountain Trail by 4x4 image
Excellent! This was a really nice adventure. The food and drink was fantastic, we were collected from the dock with really clear communication. On the trail, the vehicles were easy to manage despite the steep paths. There were fantastic views and hidden gems, waterfalls, a lovely lake, and spectacular views back over the valley. We had 3 kids with us between 4 and 11 and all fitted in the back seat comfortably. Cost-wise you get a lot more for your money than some other tours, and I felt like it was money well spent. 25. 5.0 Aurora Dora (517 reviews)
    - Fabulous photos of aurora and teaching!!!
    Sunday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Speciality & Gift Shops • Art Galleries • Lessons & Workshops
    Aurora Dora image
When It's Dark, I See the Lights! I relocated from Brazil to Alaska in 2001 and have been chasing and photographing Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) ever since. I never heard about the Northern Lights before I moved to Alaska. The first time I saw them it was love at first sight. That was it! From there on I knew what I wanted to do, I wanted to share the Auroras with the world and show them to everyone who doesn't have the opportunity to see the Northern lights. That's what I have been doing since. From long and cold nights photographing amazing auroras through the skies, and teaching northern lights photography workshops, to the summers explaining and showing the auroras to the ones that are not able to visit Alaska in the winters. I am a photographer in Alaska, living the dream life of many photographers. Many of my images were published by NASA, Space Weather Live, Washington Post, space.com, Nature Photographer Magazine, Society of Nature Photographers, just to name a few. See more..
  26. 5.0 Glacier Wind Charters (490 reviews)
    - WOW! What a Whale of a Time!
Boat Tours • Dolphin & Whale Watching
    Glacier Wind Charters image
I chartered Glacier Wind for a whale watching trip on 7/29/2021 while in port on a Royal Caribbean Serenade cruise because I didn't want to do the ship's excursion. I couldn't have been happier with the experience I had with this family owned business. The communication of the details of where to meet and what to expect were precise and easy to understand. Even though we ended up being the only 2 people who had booked that day, they didn't cancel the cruise even though I expect they didn't make much profit from the booking. Captain Casey was very professional and skilled at both driving the boat and spotting whales from very far away. We saw an otter and many humpbacks and were able to get photos of breaching and fins slapping the surface. He was very knowledgable about the area and the marine life so we learned a lot and really enjoyed the hot chocolate he brought! I highly recommend Glacier Wind Charters for a more intimate and personalized whale watching experience. See more..
  27. 5.0 Icy Strait Point ZipRider (453 reviews)
    - AMAZING thrill ride

    Icy Strait Point ZipRider image
This was an AMAZING adventure! The trip in the gondola up the mountain can be a lil nerve wrecking because you realize just how high you have to go up the mountain. But the staff is very well trained and reassuring. Once I was strapped in, and the gate opens, you literally shoot out the gate & move very fast! My head scarf nearly blew away. My heart raced & it was initially very fast, but then toward the middle I got used to it & enjoyed the amazing view. It was awesome and I recommend it for all thrill seekers! See more..
  28. 5.0 Crazy Rays Adventures (451 reviews)
    - Awesome Guide

    Crazy Rays Adventures image
Great trip! This trip could have flopped with any other outfit. On August 10, my son and I were on the six person boat with Manny as our guide. In route to the fishing area we had to turn back due to bad weather and a rough sea state. Manny found a protected spot where we fished for several hours and the boat caught its limit of yellow eye. The weather cleared in the afternoon and Manny moved locations and we caught halibut, cod and then Silver Salmon. Some fishing boats didn’t leave Whittier due to the morning weather. I highly recommend Crazy Rays’s and Manny. They have excellent fishing equipment and Manny is a top-notch a guide who knows where the fish are and how to catch them. My number one choice in Whittier! Alaskan Tour Guides image
We were able to experience Alaska in the best possible way in July 2022. Mike was our guide, and he did an outstanding job. It was the best possible way to see and tour Alaska. It was a small group so we didn't have to fight the crowds when it came to stopping for a bathroom break or waiting in line at a restaurant like those who were in a cruise group. And the best part was we could just sit back and relax while absorbing all of the magnificent scenery. It was really cool to be able to stop at a little rest stop or scenic area to watch the salmon jump or view another glacier. All of these experiences were breath-taking and offered us priceless memories. I have shared our Alaskan trip with anyone and everyone who asked along with our pictures. I highly recommend Alaskan Tour Guides as the best way to truly see and experience Alaska. See more..

    Icy Strait Whale Adventures image
Please be advised that all of this area of Alaska has very high tides so getting off any floating object- ship dock etc. might require negotiating a steep ramp. There is a Jitney to take you around the Hoonah tourist area to the shops and the tour assembly sites. To get to the town itself there are taxis for a buck or two to do the mile or so walk. Not much in the town itself and mainly tourist type souvenirs in the area at the port area. The crew on our trip was helpful, but we just got real lucky. There was the pod of Orcas a distance from our relatively small boat that decided that it would be fun to swim under our boat s close as possible to the hull without actually hitting it,. They splashed us as we watched in amazement since we could see them throught the clear water. After that they just hung out in the area-Orca play time? as they slapped their tails on the surface many times. We also saw some sea otters lounging about and some other whales off in the distance, . See more..

We were at the celebratory start in Anchorage (March 4, 2023). Amazing atmosphere, beautiful and eager dogs, great teams and many spectators along 4th Avenue in downtown Anchorage. It was cold but sunny. As the teams started out, chears and whistling and clapping started all the way out of downtown. We also tried raindeer sausage at one of the vendors. Snowhook Adventure Guides of Alaska image
My husband and I did the 10am mushing tour, and we loved it! We were able to ride on the same sled. Our guide musher, Matt, was fantastic, had a great attitude, answered all of our questions and told us about each dog that was getting attached to the gangline. It was interesting to see the strategy of lining up a team of dogs. Part of the time is spent socializing with the dogs as they prep for the mushing tour and then other time spent on the trail. The dogs were so excited to get running and clearly love pulling. If you stand on the foot boards on the back of the sled, be prepared to put in a little effort in going up hills. I rode in the sled so didn't have to do much work (held on tight). It felt like a really fun rollercoaster ride at times since it wasn't always flat during the tour which made it very fun. The scenery is beautiful through the snowy woods. This is a must do on a trip to Alaska! See more..
  37. 5.0 Lazy Otter Charters (319 reviews)
    - Best of Prince William Sound boat tour: truly the best
    Boat Tours
    Lazy Otter Charters image
If you want to spend a day experiencing Prince William Sound, Lazy Otter Charters is the boat service to use. The boat was small – our tour had a total of 6 people – and our excellent captain, Matt, guided us to see the things we all wanted to, stopping so that we could watch a fishing boat haul in a purse net full of salmon, track a whale, and check out seals and otters, and sailing close into inlets to inspect glaciers up close and listen to them crack nearby. The trip was totally personalized, unlike, we assume, the trips in the larger boats. We highly recommend this trip and this well-run company, and Matt especially, with his knowledge and enthusiasm. We had a spectacular day. See more..

Experience the thrill of driving your own team of Alaskan huskies around our private racing trail system. In this adrenaline-fueled, behind-the-scenes experience, learn how these amazing creatures live, play, and train in a 4-time Iditarod champion’s kennel. With smaller groups for a more personal experience, you and one other person from your group will drive your own team of dogs through the beautiful birch and spruce forest. Our experienced guides will talk about our kennel's involvement in the Iditarod, and will teach you about how these amazingly tough dogs and mushers survive and thrive on 1,000 mile endurance races through the heart of Alaska. Many of the dogs on your team are either retired racing dogs (many have won the Iditarod), are currently on the race team, or are the next generation in training to become the next great champions. All the dogs at our kennel are extremely friendly and love attention; throw the ball, walk with the dogs, or have a seat and cuddle a puppy! See more..

The truck ride is super bumpy and fun, especially going though the water. The boat ride was awesome too, and you are given ear protection and heavy jackets. We floated by small icebergs, and the lake was just beautiful! After we landed at glacier camp, we climbed all around the area, and you can get a snack from the guide if you'd like. There is also a peanut-eating ground squirrel. :-) We spent quite a while walking around and taking pictures, and there were pieces of ice that you could pick up on the ground by the shoreline. This trip does require some mobility to climb into and out of the truck and the boat. We highly recommend it! See more..

    Alaska Railroad image
The Alaska Railroad is an amazing experience! I travelled from Seward to Anchorage. The railroad travels through beautifull scenery with a lot of things to do. In addition, and the staff narrate the trip and point out various sites along the way, therefore the train uses low speed. The seats are very comfortable. You don;nt need to pay extra ticket to ride the expensive train with the glass dome. In every train there is a 1st floor, but there is an "unofficial agreemen" that every passenger should spend abt 15-30 min in order to be able to enjoy the view all the passenger. A very special moment: when the alaska express approached cars, people etc, they all smilled and salute us! The best way to travel among the cities! Bring something to eat and enjoy it!! Especially during midnight sun!!! See more..

A wonderful trip. Excellent, experienced guide Leigh Lubin made a huge impact on the overall enjoyment of the itinerary. We saw lots of animals and majestic scenery. Highlights included the 6 mile sea kayak to the Aleiska glacier....winds were kicking up and the skies were spitting so the paddling was challenging before we got to the icebergs! I felt as though I was in a National Geographic film most of the time. Kenai Peninsula Glacier Lodge is a gem, tucked away with each cabin having its own view of the lagoon, its island and the glacier that formed them. What a treat to finally be able to see Denali our last night when we got to take a small plane flight from Denali Backcountry Lodge. Alaska is a huge place and AWA constructed an efficient way for its guests to see many significant parts of it. I highly recommend it! See more..

This small museum contains the collections assembled during the late 1800's of the various Alaskan tribes. The glass cased displays contain the larger items from native life. The real treasure can be found in the drawers below the display cases. Here you see, up close, the items from daily life. The staff is extremely knowledgeable. The most interesting fact is the silverware was created by reshaping Russian coins. There is no local silver in Alaska. The Russians initially couldn't figure out how their currency was disappearing. Kacey is fantastic! If you want an intimate ride down the river then this is the way to do it. The raft accommodated 6 guests which really allowed us all to be comfortable and get the most out of Kacey’s expert navigation and engaging stories about the river. Kacey is very knowledgeable about the local scene and wildlife and was the first to point out all of the Eagles and other animals that we saw on our ride! 10/10 recommend utilizing this service for all of your rafting desires in Cooper Landing. It was a long ride out to Holgate glacier but worth the trip. We were dropped off for kayaking and it was a fabulous day. The views are spectacular. We saw harbor seals in the vicinity along with all the birds. The glacier thunders and eventually calved while we were there. Nice place to get out and stretch. Surprise glacier is next door and also beautiful. See more..

We stayed for three nights at McCarthy. Since it was going to rain the third day we booked a trip with McCarthy River Tours & Outfitters. We chose the 4 hour lake and river rafting based on some very informative email interaction with Chris. The trip was really amazing. We had lots of fun and always failed safe despite some fun big waves on the river. Given our younger kids we had three tour guides: Ally, Sarah and Violet, with Ally being the lead guide. They all made the experience super fun for the whole family and our kids learned a lot about McCarthy and the glacier and had lots of laughs. They also have a pick up and drop off service and even the bus rides to and from the river were very fun and super enjoyable. I can highly recommend this tour for old and young ones. Thank you Ally, Sarah and Violet! See more..

Our flightseeing was a memorable one with Kelly, along with one other company associate who came along, presumably because of our end of day, end of season adventure. Our tour was essentially private given these circumstances which is always helpful during COVID (though not promised at busier times of season and the day), and we did have good fortunes in near perfectly clear weather. Having done a Denali flightsee too, tough to pick a favorite between them, but this one had an incredible variety of landscape and things to see, with never a dull moment on the flight. Kelly was an effective tour guide and pilot, along with the associate who joined us, as they were incredibly knowledgeable and personable about the area, and Kelly showed confidence in serving as the pilot. The sights were incredible, and though an expensive activity overall, the 70 minute edition we chose was more than worth it for the traveler to Alaska. See more..

This was such a fun adventure! David is very professional and super fun! We started early, 6:30am, so we got to the best fishing spots first. We limited out quickly, both salmon and halibut and then went on to catch cod as well. The weather was amazing, birds flying overhead, whales breaching and fish jumping...all set to some great music to really set the tone! I would highly recommend Fish and Chips Charters, you won’t be disappointed! Thanks Captain Dave See more..

Over the years I’ve enjoyed fishing with guides all over the country and now that my daughter is old enough, 10 yrs, to also truly enjoy the experience as well, we have started taking trips together. After some research we booked with Brad at AKFFF and we were extremely glad we did. We spend a beautiful day floating down two different rivers chasing rainbows. It was a bit chilly first thing in the morning and Brad let my daughter use his wife’s gloves which she really appreciated. He was extremely knowledgeable and patient with our mostly novice fly fishing group as we quickly improved enough to all fight nice rainbows in some of the most beautiful scenery in the country! If I’m ever fortunate enough to find myself in Alaska again I’ll be looking up Brad at Alaska Kenai Fishing for Fun for another great day on the water! Btw, my daughter told me she enjoyed our day with Brad the most out of a full week long of fishing in Alaska. I would rate 6 stars if I could. See more..

1/2 Day Fishing the Kenai River with J.J. We got lucky, we didn't know any guides so we left it up to the company. We fished with J.J. and it couldn't have turned out any better. All 4 of us were pretty much river fishing novices, JJ was a great instructor and has patience and knows what he's doing. Very laid back but constantly teaching and notices everything going on around him on the river. We caught 9 Sockeye in a short amount of time, lost as many but had the time of our lives out there. JJ knows where to find the fish and knows the best techniques, he's energetic and active, great with the net and will chase your fish way downstream if necessary. Highly recommend this trip, next time will be a full day, with JJ. Take a trip with JJ, you will not be disappointed. See more..
