  1. 5.0 K2 Aviation (3.039 reviews)
    - Seriously Amazing

    K2 Aviation image
Its really important to note that the weather is a huge constraint on this activity. My boyfriend and I booked the flightseeing tour with glacier landing months in advance with of course no idea the weather. We got extremely lucky being the day of our flightseeing tour, was the only day of our entire trip that had clear skies. The flight was amazing, pilot Phillip was so nice and informative. He even took some amazing photos of us in front of the plane. I get motion sickness pretty easy but this was not an issue for me. Before boarding the flight, I asked if I could sit up front and the pilot said yes saying "its kind of a 'whoever asks first' can sit in the front". The front seat is most definitely the best view but they navigate the plane in a way where everyone gets a chance to see everything. K2 made our experience super relaxing and stress free. We stayed right in Talkeetna so we just simply walked to K2 aviation and essentially walks on the plane. See more..

    Talkeetna Air Taxi image
The tallest Mountain in North America has been on my bucket list for many years. Talkeetna Air Taxi allowed me to see it from every angle & it was breath taking. The pilot (Chase) was outstanding, pointing out terrain and land marks. The entire staff were very helpful, polite, knowledgeable. I would recommend paying the little extra for the summit tour and glacier landing you will not be disappointed. Thank you TAT!!!! See more..

    - Wonderful Experience

    Phillips Cruises and Tours image
The entire experience was amazing. We got there a couple hours before the cruise was going to leave so we walked around Whittier which was so fun. Going through the tunnel to get to Whittier was also pretty exhilarating! The cruise itself was perfect (26 glacier tour). We saw a lot of wildlife (whales, otters, seals and dolphins) and the cruise was so smooth. Our ship was from NYC and had a lot of history which was really interesting. Thankful they shared that history with us. No one got sea sick because the ship rides so smooth but also travels at 36 knots which is a pretty healthy speed. We got great pictures of the glaciers and really enjoyed the chowder that was provided for us. I highly recommend experiencing the 26 glacier tour in Whittier, as I have no negative feedback about the entire experience! See more..

    - Best Way to Experience the Real Alaska

    Alaskan Tour Guides image
We were able to experience Alaska in the best possible way in July 2022. Mike was our guide, and he did an outstanding job. It was the best possible way to see and tour Alaska. It was a small group so we didn't have to fight the crowds when it came to stopping for a bathroom break or waiting in line at a restaurant like those who were in a cruise group. And the best part was we could just sit back and relax while absorbing all of the magnificent scenery. It was really cool to be able to stop at a little rest stop or scenic area to watch the salmon jump or view another glacier. All of these experiences were breath-taking and offered us priceless memories. I have shared our Alaskan trip with anyone and everyone who asked along with our pictures. I highly recommend Alaskan Tour Guides as the best way to truly see and experience Alaska. See more..

    - Incredible Family Camping Adventure!

    Anadyr Adventures image
Our family of six had an incredible experience on a 5-night camping/sea kayaking adventure with Anadyr. With four kids and two adults, we needed experts to put this trip together and everyone at Anadyr was fantastic. It was obvious that a lot of thought had been put into the planning of our trip - making sure everyone's needs were addressed and always making safety a priority. We would highly recommend Anadyr for families that are looking for an experience of a lifetime. We will all remember this trip for years to come! See more..

A wonderful trip. Excellent, experienced guide Leigh Lubin made a huge impact on the overall enjoyment of the itinerary. We saw lots of animals and majestic scenery. Highlights included the 6 mile sea kayak to the Aleiska glacier....winds were kicking up and the skies were spitting so the paddling was challenging before we got to the icebergs! I felt as though I was in a National Geographic film most of the time. Kenai Peninsula Glacier Lodge is a gem, tucked away with each cabin having its own view of the lagoon, its island and the glacier that formed them. What a treat to finally be able to see Denali our last night when we got to take a small plane flight from Denali Backcountry Lodge. Alaska is a huge place and AWA constructed an efficient way for its guests to see many significant parts of it. I highly recommend it! See more..

Kacey is fantastic! If you want an intimate ride down the river then this is the way to do it. The raft accommodated 6 guests which really allowed us all to be comfortable and get the most out of Kacey’s expert navigation and engaging stories about the river. Kacey is very knowledgeable about the local scene and wildlife and was the first to point out all of the Eagles and other animals that we saw on our ride! 10/10 recommend utilizing this service for all of your rafting desires in Cooper Landing. This was such a fun adventure! David is very professional and super fun! We started early, 6:30am, so we got to the best fishing spots first. We limited out quickly, both salmon and halibut and then went on to catch cod as well. The weather was amazing, birds flying overhead, whales breaching and fish jumping...all set to some great music to really set the tone! I would highly recommend Fish and Chips Charters, you won’t be disappointed! Thanks Captain Dave See more..

    Alaska Vistas image
Alaska Vista is very well run business, catering to all a client's needs. The team makes you feel like family. They picked us up at the airport, whisked us away to our glacier tour (which was fabulous), and dropped us off at our airbnb on the first day. The next day we meet the tour for the Anan bear viewing. Robert, our guide, is extremely knowledgeable about native and animal usage of plants, bear etiquette and allowed us to snap pics til our heart was content. And it was. He's a great photographer as well. Sylvia, our captain for both days was a kick, knowledgeable, gracious and kept us laughing. The two days we spent with Alaska Vista were the highlights of our trip. They even gave us a ride to the airport the next day. I can't recommend this group more. I will be giving out their card to everyone that I know. See more..
  10. 5.0 Five Dogs Fishing (190 reviews)

    Five Dogs Fishing image
Adam is not just guiding you to fish, he takes you on an adventure! From having all the gear you need, to making sure you are comfortable with it, he is awesome! The above mentored gear, by the way, is top notch and well maintained, ensuring you stay dry and comfortable, and ready to catch fish. We caught Rainbow trout, Dolly Varden and Salmon, and saw a variety of wildlife. Even if handling fish is not your thing, he will help you get a picture showing your catch, so you can relive that awesome moment with friends at home. Amazing scenery, coupled with his intimate knowledge of the river, made it a great part of a one in a lifetime trip, I would definitely recommend booking a trip with 5 Dogs! See more..
  11. 5.0 Breakaway Adventures Day Tours (185 reviews)
    - Great trip up the Stakine River
Taxis & Shuttles • Boat Tours • Sightseeing Tours • Boat Rentals • Kayaking & Canoeing
    Breakaway Adventures Day Tours image
The tour was all that we had hoped for. Eric, our guide has a wealth of experience and we explored several areas off the main tour course on the way to the lake and glacier. The tour is 4 hours and Eric timed it perfectly. We also needed to move up the standard departure time by 30 minutes in order to be sure to get back to our cruise ship on time and that was no problem. The tour was considerably less expensive than those booked through the cruise ship, but comparing the experience with passengers that booked through the ship, we definitely had an equivalent experience. I would definitely use Breakaway if we ever return to Wrangell and highly recommend them. See more..

    VSHelicopters Tours image
I’m a local to Valdez and my boyfriend and I went up in the heli with Pilot Casey for the first time today. We went to Valdez glacier, and it was awesome. You really can’t grasp how vastly beautiful this place is unless you see it in the air. Casey’s piloting was smooth as butter (I was worried about getting motion sick, it wasn’t a problem at all) and he gave the tour well, pointing out all the cool sites and searching for critters. The heli was super clean and we felt comfortable considering the current COVID protocols. We will be recommending VS Helicopters to all of our friends and family who come to visit, and will most likely be taking another tour with them in the near future. Don’t miss this while in Valdez! 13. 5.0 The Kodiak Life Guide Service (152 reviews)
    - Excellent Kodiak Island Tour
Sunday: Eco Tours • Sightseeing Tours • Nature & Wildlife Tours
The Kodiak Life Guide Service image
The Kodiak Life was a FABULOUS private tour! Tour Guide Janet geared it towards our interests which was island scenery, wildlife, and Kodiak interest points! We took a small hike to see an Eagle nest and Mama Eagle was there caring for her Baby! We saw 2 other Eagles nests during the day as well! They are huge! We also saw Eagles flying. We got to see several of the island’s bays and stopped at one to beach comb! I got some unique shells and we saw crabs in the water! We saw several Sitka deer and a few river otters. We also saw a herd of 15 Buffalo including 4 babies grazing near a beach!!! The views were incredible and since she drove, my Dad and I could relax and enjoy the awesome views! Kodiak is an amazing island and in the course of the day we drove through 3 different ecosystems. Janet was extremely knowledgeable about each one! And on top of all that, she provided our lunch and it was super delicious!!!❤️ We both highly recommend this tour! See more..

    Sea Hawk Air image
Jo was excellent in keeping touch with us, and updating us with weather conditions and pick up time, even several days ahead. Roland is such a friendly and informative guy, as well as an excellent pilot. We went to Fraser Lake near the south end of Kodiak, and had a nice air tour of the island along the way. We were so lucky when we were viewing the bears, that we didn't have any time limitations, and just comfortably watched as up to 14 bears came into the river and weir area to fish for salmon. On our way back, I jokingly told Roland that we hadn't seen any orcas during our time in the state, and he said they are only randomly seen. Just then, as we flew by Whale Island, we found a pod of orcas, and he landed the plane on the water; then they were surfacing near us! This was fantastic and afforded excellent photos and close experience. After we took off again, we flew over two pairs of mother and baby humpbacks. What an awesome day! See more..
  15. 5.0 Alaska Guide Co (125 reviews)
    - Canoe tour of Valdez Glacier Lake for a family of 5

    Alaska Guide Co image
We live near Anchorage and always wanted to see Valdez. We planned our trip around this canoe tour, as we had heard good things about the guide company. We chose the canoe tour because it was affordable for a family of 5 and our 3 boys didn’t want to spend a whole day on a guided tour. Joe was a great guide and allowed our boys to skip rocks on the lake and walk on some large chunks of glaciers. Joe was personable and accommodating. I also appreciated being in the canoe because it allowed me to take some great photos of the experience. Joe also took some photos of our family, which are great memories of our trip to Valdez. Would definitely recommend! See more..

Booked with Dave last minute and he was completely accommodating. He led us on a personalized tour onto the river to a spot with not too much traffic. Turned out to be excellent weather and a great fishing spot. Both my wife and I hit our 3 fish limit and really enjoyed the afternoon. First time salmon anglers here - Dave was a great teacher. Alaska Fishing with Mark Glassmaker image
What an amazing expedition and one that we won't soon forget. The experience was hands-down exciting throughout both days of fishing. Waking up early to catch a great spot on the river was perfect as it allowed for the best chance to catch some sockeye. The welcome we received at our cabin was top-tier and the hospitality for the duration of the stay was amazing. Halibut fishing was also thrilling and worth every single penny. Mark and Cindy are amazing hosts and gave explicit instructions in their packet with great communication for what to expect while we were in Alaska. Would love to do it again! See more..
  18. 5.0 Happy Trails Kennel (107 reviews)
    - The happiest day!

    Happy Trails Kennel image
I had an absolute blast dog sledding at happy trails kennel and highly recommend this experience! This kennel is owned by Martin Buser, a renowned dog musher who has competed in the Iditarod dozens of times and has even taken first place several times - how cool?! Our guide (Michael) did a phenomenal job driving the dog sled and answering mine and my friend’s many questions. He had much knowledge to share as he has also competed in the Iditarod several times! The views were breathtaking and we were comfortable during the whole ride as the kennel provided boots, parkas, and other cold weather gear. Additionally, getting to play with the dogs after the ride made my day - heck it made my week! I recommend this experience for everyone, but especially to dog lovers! See more..
  19. 5.0 Denali Gold Tours (101 reviews)

    Denali Gold Tours image
We had a party of 7 consisting of a 10, 11, and 12 year old, 2 40somethings, and 2 70 year olds. Richard was so cool. He was great with the kids. Very patient. It was great to get to know a true alaskan, and he was a pleasure to talk to. Gave a great history of the area. And we found gold, and saw moose. Highly recommended, as this was one of the coolest things we did on our 10 day trip. We like hands on adventure, and this was cool. The water was cold even through the rubber boots, and having 2 pars of socks on would have helped. You start by meeting him at his place, and he gives you knee high rubber boots, and takes you to the river, telling you cool stories about the area. Then he teaches you how to pan for gold. Then grills up some reindeer sausages when you get back to his place. Highly recommended. See more..

It was much more than just another great fishing trip. The variety of experiences, the natural beauty (lots of whales and bears!), getting to know the incredible Clark family were highlights. The Coho fishing was stellar in several different rivers. The Dolly Varden fishing was something to behold, at times a fish on virtually every cast. Plenty of Halibut for anyone who cares to fill their freezer! It was just a wonderful all around Alaska experience! See more..

We arrived to Kaktovik on the second week of September to see the polar bears. By Sunny kindly help, we booked a year ahead 5 tours. Sunny was patient to all our requests and organized for us the perfect package for our needs. Jack and Steve were professional guides with a sense of humor and a lot of patience. They gave us warm clothes and navigate the boat to all the places that the bears were. Steve told us a lot about polar bears and their way of life. Before we booked the tours we afraid of the cold weather and the open boat but in the end, it was an advantage! We walked freely on the boat and has a 360-degrees angle for taking pictures. Thank you, Steve and Jack, for an unforgettable adventure! We cannot wait to book another tour to see the amazing polar bears See more..

This review is late in coming, but I couldn't pass up on the opportunity to give Ketil the rave reviews he deserves! Seeing polar bears has long been on our bucket list, but the thought of fighting the crowds in Churchill had us looking for other options. A friend recommended Ketil and we're so glad she did. We were in Kaktovik the last of August and the first few days of September last year and saw lots of polar bears! Ketil's boat is heated and there is a small bathroom if needed. I would highly recommend him, or his fine son Martin, if you're looking for a unique place to see polar bears! See more..

    Muddy Water Adventures image
Took several excursions in Wrangell with different companies but Muddy Waters was the best. Zach Taylor’s boat was more comfortable. I truly felt that every seat had a good view. Zach himself was very engaging, answering my questions about our destination, Anan Bear Observatory, as well as insights on growing up and choosing to remain in Wrangell. He’s also an honorable person who refunded us on our 2020 aborted trip (Covid lockdown), even though it was non-refundable. His treatment of us then was the determining factor in us renewing our Wrangell trip in 2021. 100% recommend his company. See more..

even though it was a rainy day we got to see a lot of birds and seals on south marble island and mountain goats on another island. we passed quite a few humpback whales on the way to john hopkin's glacier. we picked up 2 kayakers on another island and saw a coastal bear and some even saw a wolf (1st one for this season for our national park guide). I love that there were a couple of seals bobbing along the shoreline as we were loading the kayaks on the boat. Both the crew and national park guide were awesome. Lunch was included in the cost and free hot drinks were available throughout the trip. Bathrooms were very clean as well as the inside cabin and outside deck area of the boat. as it was the end of the season the boat wasn't full and passengers had an opportunity to talk to each other. we even got to see how the park guides got picked up and dropped off from the huge cruise ship. It was pretty interesting. See more..

Review long overdue - sorry POW - but well deserved, so here it is: I, and my group, cannot say enough good things about Katie and our experience with POW. We took part in a 5 day canoe/kayak trip on the island back in 8/21. The trip gave us the adventure, solitude, and beauty we were looking for, due in large part to the wonderful service, gear, and advice Katie provided. Without the high-end kayak and canoe, I doubt we would've made it to our cabin, never mind the back country lakes on the canoe route. Also, we found Katie to be a great person too! Glad we made POW our choice and would again...hope to sometime soon. See more..

We visited Dutch Harbor in September during our cruise.and Bobbie of Extra Mile Tours did an excellent job introducing us to this lovely island. There is a lot of history here and as other reviewers have mentioned, it takes a local to really tell you about the history. Bobbie made a special arrangement with the church (which was actually closed the day we were there) to have someone open the church for our group to show and tell us about its history. I would highly recommend Bobbie and Extra Mile Tours whenever you visit this area. See more..

The park bus was comfortable, the scenery just spectacular. What a day we had! Beautiful weather and we saw Mt. McKinley/Denali Mountain in all her glory (only 30% of travelers do, we were told, due to cloud cover and weather). We also saw 11 bears, most fattening up on berries, a recent bear kill site, squirrels (one in a foxes mouth), eagles, moose, caribou, and even caught a glimpse of a lynx. But it was the pristine beauty of the park that was the draw, as well as all the history about the park shared by our driver. A truly magnificent, awe inspiring part of our country. My daugher and I did the 1/2 day excursion- about 4 hours. We spent about 1 1/2 hours meeting the dogs, harnessing and connecting them to the slad, and learned how to operate a sled. Then we were off for a ~20 mile ride! Ryan was in the lead sled about 100ft ahead of us and we were in our own sled behind him. This was not a trot through the woods like a trail horse- you had to brake, lean, and duck down at certain times. A great adventure. It was about 5F outside and we had plenty of cold weather gear- only our feet got a little cold so make sure you have good quality boots and socks as well as jacket, etc. We went on a dogsled ride in VT a few years ago (also a 5 out of 5 in my opinion) and this blew it away. Highly recommend. See more..

Kenai lake is phenomenal and we had great weather, calm waters - saw many salmon and just enjoyed being out in nature with almost no one around - good for the soul. Ren was helpful to us when we got stuck and shared stories, took pictures etc. We paced ourselves with younger kids and enjoyed views which are breathtaking. A lot of fun to photograph the huskies and beautiful scenery :) Got lucky seeing some moose and ptarmigan too! It was a short tour, about one hour. I brought a fully charged camera. Dressing warmly is a big help. I wore a base layer, a fleece sweater with hood, and a puffy jacket. I also wore mittens on top of my glove liners, and a face mask and beanie. I was pretty warm with all these layers, and Steve, the musher also provided a sleeping bag in the sled basket. The dogs run really fast so it can get a little breezy, until we reach the forest. We took this tour last July with Dave Taylor and we were SO glad we did. It was our first trip to Alaska so we really wanted an "insiders" opinion on where to go and what to see. Dave provided a fantastic tour. It was wonderfully informative, helpful and very well planned out. On top of it all though, it was just a ton of fun. Dave takes the time to provide some information and history of the area. He has numerous "out of the way" spots that are not loaded with other tourists and are truly spectacular. In the (too) short time we spent with him, our photography skills greatly improved as well. I really can't say enough good things about the SixtyOneNorth tour. It was perfect. See more..
