Major Marine Tours delivered a memorable experience for our family of four. Captain Laura, Katrina, and the rest of the crew were informative, engaging, and enthusiastic. This team shared the history of the Fjords and shared in the excitement when we spotted Orcas, otters, sea Lions, humpback whales, puffins, eagles, etc. I highly recommend splurging for this day long tour since it may very well be the most memorable one of your trip. We, as a group of 18 neighbors, were lucky to have Dave, Tyler and Barbara as our drivers and guides for the Heritage Tour of Fairbanks one day; Chena Hot Springs and Northern Lights Tour another day: Aurora Viewing Cabin still another day: and finally for the Arctic Circle Trip. They packed a lot of vacation into one week for us. All were very attentive to our needs as an "active adult" (read senior) group! The information/narration along the way was excellent. They were always punctual when it came to picking us up at our lodge. Although we did not see the full Auroras, we did get a glimpse of them on the Arctic Circle Trip. All in all it was a great experience with Dave, Tyler and Barbara and would recommend Alaska Wildlife Guide for excursions in Fairbanks Alaska. Thank you! See more..

The entire experience was amazing. We got there a couple hours before the cruise was going to leave so we walked around Whittier which was so fun. Going through the tunnel to get to Whittier was also pretty exhilarating! The cruise itself was perfect (26 glacier tour). We saw a lot of wildlife (whales, otters, seals and dolphins) and the cruise was so smooth. Our ship was from NYC and had a lot of history which was really interesting. Thankful they shared that history with us. No one got sea sick because the ship rides so smooth but also travels at 36 knots which is a pretty healthy speed. We got great pictures of the glaciers and really enjoyed the chowder that was provided for us. I highly recommend experiencing the 26 glacier tour in Whittier, as I have no negative feedback about the entire experience! See more..

This was our second trip with Brady out to the Knik Glacier and it did not disappoint! We began our day with a little bit of sunshine that later became liquid sunshine. Brady was an amazing guide that adjusted our tour based upon the changing weather conditions; however, even with the rain, he never lost his enthusiasm. In fact, he actually became more enthusiastic with the rain!! The glacier was massive and the views were epic. I highly recommend this trip. See more..

We had an amazing time in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park thanks to St. Elias Alpine Guides! They were professional, well-organized and friendly and made our trip a very fun and memorable experience . We enjoyed ice climbing, exploring ice caves, touring the abandoned copper mill, and an airplane trip to the backcountry with Wrangell Mountain Air. The park is truly a unique place and having experienced guides who are so passionate about what they do makes for a truly unforgettable (and safe!) experience. We would recommend this guiding company to anyone who wants to see the breathtaking beauty and cool history of this remote part of Alaska. See more..

    Rainbow Glacier Adventures LLC image
This was a Holland America photography tour out of Skagway, Alaska. Your guide was Dale Cunning. It was an excellent tour in a small group. Dale timed stops to avoid crowds at the popular sites. Over 3 hours we made about 10 stops at photographic stops most of which I would have missed on my own. Dale is helpful to assist everyone no matter what their level of experience. Itinerary will vary depending on weather conditions. We had good weather so we started out at Skagway grave yard and waterfall and up to white pass and just into the Yukon. Got lots of great photos! From the moment our guide got in touch a few days before our tour we knew this would be an incredible experience. We did the three day Columbia glacier kayak + overnight lodge stay, and frankly it was the best money we've spent in Alaska in a long time (we visit yearly, so that says something!) The glacier was spectacular, and Tim (owner and our captain) did a great job of slowing on our ride to scope out wildlife. We saw jellyfish, otters, sea lions, and a curious harbor seal. Our guide, Kyle, was a perfect fit for us, and we felt he kept us engaged and moving but never drove us beyond our physical comfort zone (which for a trip that involved three days of kayaking, felt very mindful and attentive). But the real treat of this particular excursion was staying with Chris at his lodge. All hours of the day we could hike the area, eat blueberries and salmon berries right off the bushes, and watch otter pups frolicking in the shallows between leaping pink salmon. A black bear showed up right in the front yard (small and harmless, eating berries just like we were). It was a spectacular home base for kayaking (we saw seals and a TON of curious otters that came right up beside our kayaks if we stayed still, and a number of eagles), and Chris himself was a font of knowledge and entertainment, as well as a phenomenal cook - we ate better those two nights than most of our trip out to restaurants! Frankly I could rant and rave on, but book this trip! Seriously! See more..
  8. 5.0 Crazy Rays Adventures (451 reviews)
    - Awesome Guide

    Crazy Rays Adventures image
Great trip! This trip could have flopped with any other outfit. On August 10, my son and I were on the six person boat with Manny as our guide. In route to the fishing area we had to turn back due to bad weather and a rough sea state. Manny found a protected spot where we fished for several hours and the boat caught its limit of yellow eye. The weather cleared in the afternoon and Manny moved locations and we caught halibut, cod and then Silver Salmon. Some fishing boats didn’t leave Whittier due to the morning weather. I highly recommend Crazy Rays’s and Manny. They have excellent fishing equipment and Manny is a top-notch a guide who knows where the fish are and how to catch them. My number one choice in Whittier! We were able to experience Alaska in the best possible way in July 2022. Mike was our guide, and he did an outstanding job. It was the best possible way to see and tour Alaska. It was a small group so we didn't have to fight the crowds when it came to stopping for a bathroom break or waiting in line at a restaurant like those who were in a cruise group. And the best part was we could just sit back and relax while absorbing all of the magnificent scenery. It was really cool to be able to stop at a little rest stop or scenic area to watch the salmon jump or view another glacier. All of these experiences were breath-taking and offered us priceless memories. I have shared our Alaskan trip with anyone and everyone who asked along with our pictures. I highly recommend Alaskan Tour Guides as the best way to truly see and experience Alaska. See more..

Our family of six had an incredible experience on a 5-night camping/sea kayaking adventure with Anadyr. With four kids and two adults, we needed experts to put this trip together and everyone at Anadyr was fantastic. It was obvious that a lot of thought had been put into the planning of our trip - making sure everyone's needs were addressed and always making safety a priority. We would highly recommend Anadyr for families that are looking for an experience of a lifetime. We will all remember this trip for years to come! See more..

My husband and I did the 10am mushing tour, and we loved it! We were able to ride on the same sled. Our guide musher, Matt, was fantastic, had a great attitude, answered all of our questions and told us about each dog that was getting attached to the gangline. It was interesting to see the strategy of lining up a team of dogs. Part of the time is spent socializing with the dogs as they prep for the mushing tour and then other time spent on the trail. The dogs were so excited to get running and clearly love pulling. If you stand on the foot boards on the back of the sled, be prepared to put in a little effort in going up hills. I rode in the sled so didn't have to do much work (held on tight). It felt like a really fun rollercoaster ride at times since it wasn't always flat during the tour which made it very fun. The scenery is beautiful through the snowy woods. This is a must do on a trip to Alaska! See more..

We had such a good time on this trip! We were the only ones on the tour, plus a couple of guys were who going rafting, and we really enjoyed meeting them. The truck ride is super bumpy and fun, especially going though the water. The boat ride was awesome too, and you are given ear protection and heavy jackets. We floated by small icebergs, and the lake was just beautiful! After we landed at glacier camp, we climbed all around the area, and you can get a snack from the guide if you'd like. There is also a peanut-eating ground squirrel. :-) We spent quite a while walking around and taking pictures, and there were pieces of ice that you could pick up on the ground by the shoreline. This trip does require some mobility to climb into and out of the truck and the boat. We highly recommend it! See more..

Alaska Vista is very well run business, catering to all a client's needs. The team makes you feel like family. They picked us up at the airport, whisked us away to our glacier tour (which was fabulous), and dropped us off at our airbnb on the first day. The next day we meet the tour for the Anan bear viewing. Robert, our guide, is extremely knowledgeable about native and animal usage of plants, bear etiquette and allowed us to snap pics til our heart was content. And it was. He's a great photographer as well. Sylvia, our captain for both days was a kick, knowledgeable, gracious and kept us laughing. The two days we spent with Alaska Vista were the highlights of our trip. They even gave us a ride to the airport the next day. I can't recommend this group more. I will be giving out their card to everyone that I know. See more..

My favorite part was truly the entire experience! Walking on Root Glacier was something that will stand out in my memories for the rest of my life! The weather was difficult, 40 degrees with a hard frigid driving rain but our guide expertly kept us safe and having tons of fun on the ice. I felt like the pace was perfect. I also enjoyed listening to her narration and actually understanding the glacier rather than just looking at the glacier! My guide even gave me a ride back to McCarthy when the tour was over! She didn’t have to do that! It was above and beyond her duties and I am grateful for her actions!! Overall, a splendid experience. I have been on tours all over the world. I have also been to 60 of the 63 US National Parks. This experience goes right to the very top in all of my life! Thank you! See more..

Captain Fred, Maggie and Elena took great care to make sure we had an amazing experience. Captain Fred spends the whole tour sharing his vast knowledge of the Valdez area and Alaska. He ensures that your family will have a great experience, to the point of following a pod of juvenile humpbacks while they hunted and fed. The sight of those whales surfacing in their circle was amazing!!! We were able to see it 4 times! Columbia Glacier is beautiful, and the timeline that Captain Fred adds to the experience helps make the view even more enjoyable. The food on the boat was excellent as well, and not too pricey, unlike the rest of the town. Thank you so much!!!! See more..

My family has been visiting the town of Cooper Landing for many years and we always book at least one evening fishing trip for when we are there! John and Heather both do a great job making us feel welcome. John is very knowledgeable and loves to share stories, answer any questions, and help you catch as many fish as possible! John knows all of the hot spots and was able to get a limit of salmon for me and my wife even when we were there more than a week before "prime" fishing! We will definitely be going back. The rest of the town is great too. Lots of fun and friendly people, great food and drinks at any of the restaurants and bars in the area. The views never get old! See more..

    - Great Bear Viewing in Kodiak Island!
Nature & Wildlife Tours • Air Tours
    Kingfisher Aviation image
My wife and I came to Kodiak Island specifically to see the bears, and Kingfisher delivered beyond our greatest expectations! Kyle was an excellent pilot and guide, and we were fortunate to have a gentle day with warm weather. Kyle was able to navigate us through both the Eastern and Western sections of Kodiak Island, the second largest island in the United States. We took the 1/2 mile hike to the viewing area, and we saw more than 20 bears! Many of the bears were cubs, and they were having fun playing literally 30 feet away from us! We had our pilots / guides and rangers around us and never felt threatened as we watched from a grassy knoll above the salmon ladder and river leading into Frazier Lake. We highly recommend Kingfisher Aviation for bear viewing in Kodiak Island! This was a wonderful and memorable experience See more..

I’m a local to Valdez and my boyfriend and I went up in the heli with Pilot Casey for the first time today. We went to Valdez glacier, and it was awesome. You really can’t grasp how vastly beautiful this place is unless you see it in the air. Casey’s piloting was smooth as butter (I was worried about getting motion sick, it wasn’t a problem at all) and he gave the tour well, pointing out all the cool sites and searching for critters. The heli was super clean and we felt comfortable considering the current COVID protocols. We will be recommending VS Helicopters to all of our friends and family who come to visit, and will most likely be taking another tour with them in the near future. Don’t miss this while in Valdez! The Kodiak Life Guide Service image
The Kodiak Life was a FABULOUS private tour! Tour Guide Janet geared it towards our interests which was island scenery, wildlife, and Kodiak interest points! We took a small hike to see an Eagle nest and Mama Eagle was there caring for her Baby! We saw 2 other Eagles nests during the day as well! They are huge! We also saw Eagles flying. We got to see several of the island’s bays and stopped at one to beach comb! I got some unique shells and we saw crabs in the water! We saw several Sitka deer and a few river otters. We also saw a herd of 15 Buffalo including 4 babies grazing near a beach!!! The views were incredible and since she drove, my Dad and I could relax and enjoy the awesome views! Kodiak is an amazing island and in the course of the day we drove through 3 different ecosystems. Janet was extremely knowledgeable about each one! And on top of all that, she provided our lunch and it was super delicious!!!❤️ We both highly recommend this tour! See more..

Jo was excellent in keeping touch with us, and updating us with weather conditions and pick up time, even several days ahead. Roland is such a friendly and informative guy, as well as an excellent pilot. We went to Fraser Lake near the south end of Kodiak, and had a nice air tour of the island along the way. We were so lucky when we were viewing the bears, that we didn't have any time limitations, and just comfortably watched as up to 14 bears came into the river and weir area to fish for salmon. On our way back, I jokingly told Roland that we hadn't seen any orcas during our time in the state, and he said they are only randomly seen. Just then, as we flew by Whale Island, we found a pod of orcas, and he landed the plane on the water; then they were surfacing near us! This was fantastic and afforded excellent photos and close experience. After we took off again, we flew over two pairs of mother and baby humpbacks. What an awesome day! See more..

Favorite part of the trip besides catching unbelievable halibut was the attention the crew gave me to my seasickness issues. Boat Captain was a delight and her knowledge of fishing in the ocean is second to none. Salt water fishing can be a little tough on me do to my sensitive sea sickness issues. The Captain and Crew were attentive to the water conditions as to minimize my potential sea sickness concern. The Fishing was wonderful!!! We had a fantastic time on our whale watching excursion. We saw whales bubble net feeding multiple times, sea lions and a very large brown bear! The boat while larger enough has room for only 6 so you are able to enjoy your time without competing for a good view like on some other larger boats I've gone on. Joardan was an excellent captain and guide. We also enjoyed the complementary coffee, snacks and the home made muffins his wife made. If your cruise stops in Icy Strait I highly recommend booking with Hoonah Whale Tours rather than booking one of the larger boats the cruise ship offers in their excursions See more..

What an amazing expedition and one that we won't soon forget. The experience was hands-down exciting throughout both days of fishing. Waking up early to catch a great spot on the river was perfect as it allowed for the best chance to catch some sockeye. The welcome we received at our cabin was top-tier and the hospitality for the duration of the stay was amazing. Halibut fishing was also thrilling and worth every single penny. Mark and Cindy are amazing hosts and gave explicit instructions in their packet with great communication for what to expect while we were in Alaska. Would love to do it again! See more..

Natalie was absolutely amazing! Chels and I had a great day fishing with her. She provided all the gear and had Chels on a fish within a few casts. Staying at the lodge at the park and being able to find a local guide in town was the best thing we could have done. Chels was so stoked to find out Natalie also did sea kayaking. After having a difficult time booking them through Glacier Bay lodge it was just meant to be with Natalie. Chels and Jenna couldn't stop talking about the kayak trip they'd gone out on for the rest of the day. Captain Billy was AMAZING! He knew right where to take us to see whales. At one point, two whales swam right by the boat on the right side, while another whale was jumping on the left side! It was incredible. We spent all afternoon watching the wales play and feed together. Captain Billy also took us to see bears on the shoreline (watching from the boat). So fun! The boat was clean and had all the accommodations we needed. Captain Billy was able to answer all of our questions and told us stories about the history of the native tribe as well as the island and town. Over all, it was a 5 star experience. We went on a 10 day Alaskan bucket list trip for our 26th anniversary at the beginning of this month (June). We did the Matanuska Glacier Adventures pretty early in our trip and it was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!!!! Isabel was our tour guide and she was so very sweet and extremely knowledgeable about the glacier and the surrounding area. It was a pretty easy hike/walk even if you are out of shape. I cannot stress enough that you HAVE to do this tour! We arrived to Kaktovik on the second week of September to see the polar bears. By Sunny kindly help, we booked a year ahead 5 tours. Sunny was patient to all our requests and organized for us the perfect package for our needs. Jack and Steve were professional guides with a sense of humor and a lot of patience. They gave us warm clothes and navigate the boat to all the places that the bears were. Steve told us a lot about polar bears and their way of life. Before we booked the tours we afraid of the cold weather and the open boat but in the end, it was an advantage! We walked freely on the boat and has a 360-degrees angle for taking pictures. I live and play in Alaska and I've seen and done many of the normal day trips. I had the opportunity to have Capt John and the Tundra bring us on a back country ski trip in Prince William Sound. I've toured around many of the south central ski areas, but this place is incredible. I can't say enough good things. Deepest snow contrasted by Sitka Spruce and tidal lagoons. Pillows, glaciers, you name it. To make it even better, we would come back to the Tundra, and Capt John would have large meals eating for us. All while situated alone in a remote bay with no one else in sigh. There was plenty of room to sleep and lounge. I will 100% do this trip again. the only thing I would change is booking a 4+ day trip instead of a 2 day trip. See more..

Seeing polar bears has long been on our bucket list, but the thought of fighting the crowds in Churchill had us looking for other options. A friend recommended Ketil and we're so glad she did. We were in Kaktovik the last of August and the first few days of September last year and saw lots of polar bears! Ketil's boat is heated and there is a small bathroom if needed. I just want to give the biggest thumbs up to Jared, Julian and the entire Golden Eagle team. I used their services to visit the 5 National Park Service sites up in that neck of the woods in July, 2022. Quite simply they were great. These parks and monuments are a bit out of the way, and they are magical. Golden Eagle has extensive knowledge on what you can see there, how to see it, how to get to it, and they do it safely with a great deal of skill. Again -- there's not really a big enough font to represent how good these folks are; It was a great time and I would recommend Golden Eagle in a heartbeat. I hope I have the chance to go back! The first thing you'll notice are all the beautiful picturess mountains. As you enter the bay, several kinds of whales start showing up and still before your feet hit the ground, you will see eagles everywhere, hundreds of them. Once on land, there are shops to see and plenty of eateries to choose from. We found our guide, Phil Jones and set off on our trek. Our guide found several bears for us. but he also stopped so we could get many other photos and he was very knowledgible about our surroundings. We have hired other guides but none compared to phil. We will never forget our visit to Brown Bear Lodge and our guide phil jones See more..

Viking Travel and agent Fini gave us a wonderful experience. We did not want to cruise Alaska's Inside Passage and found the Marine Highway ferry system very complicated to string together our destinations. We wanted to spend more time in the small towns and seeing wildlife instead of on the cruise boat. Fini took our destinations and created an efficient itineary to visit 5 stops. She came up with fanscinating side trips which we were not aware of within our itinery. We still had much time to explore on our own: parks, museums and hiking. The accommodations had local flavor and great location. Saw Juneau, Sitka, Glacier Bay, Skagway and Haines. No gliches! Well done. See more..

We spent 2 wonderful days with Scott on The Pelican and would highly recommend his tours. We did one day of whale watching and one day at the LeConte Glacier. Scott is very experienced with great knowledge of and love for the areas he guides in. He took great care to point out all of the different animals, young birds, and beautiful sights. We saw 50+ whales on our whale watching trip, and even got to see 2 breach! The boat is comfortable and safe, and we appreciated that it had a small bathroom too, as we were out on the water all day. My sister and I with our families recently did a Northern Lights trip with Steven during a vacation/bucket list trip to Fairbanks/North Pole. It was absolutely the highlight of our trip! We booked the multi-night option, and I'm so glad Steven recommended this. It was cloudy the first couple of nights, and Steven was great about contacting us each morning to let us know the forecast for the rest of our trip. On the third night, the forecast was clear, so we went for it. Steven picked us up at our Air BnB in a van that fit all 9 of us. We drove 30-45 mins outside of Fairbanks to a frozen lake that he was familiar with. As soon as we arrived, the skies lit up...it was unlike anything any of us had ever seen...remarkable! We loved that he is an expert photographer, and he got some fantastic shots of us. He also helped the one photographer in the group set up her camera and tripod to get the best shots. The rest of us used our iphones and actually got some decent pics too, although nowhere near the quality of what Steven did. We'd love to come back in the summertime for backcountry hiking with Steven, as he really knows the area quite well. See more..

Jake is by FAR the best guide I’ve had the pleasure of fishing with. I’ve fished all over the world and nothing compares to the fly out trip with Jake. Catching fish (limited out in an hour) was only the icing on the cake compared to scenery, bears, flight, and having Jake be your guide. I felt like I’ve know him for 20 years and we were long lost friends. If you have kids, he will make sure they have the time of their lives. If you are thinking about doing a fly out trip with Jake, quit thinking, book it now, and thank me later. Oh yeah, the only reason it took an hour to limit out was because I was taking pictures and video for 3/4 of it. See more..

I've done a few tours with this company and they've always been really great. I did the half-day glacial hike and felt like I saw so much and it was an amazing. I did a guide in August with a friend and September with my parents and just the changes in the glacier within a month was amazing to see. You can also really tell the guides are well informed and passionate and love being guides here. You really can't go wrong with any tour. As my step-dad said: "I did something I didn't know needed to be on my bucket list!" I also did an ice climbing tour with the guide Tristan. Easily one of my favorite things I've ever done and I want to do more of it. Tristan is very confident and knows how to make you feel comfortable. Great guide! See more..

Took several excursions in Wrangell with different companies but Muddy Waters was the best. Zach Taylor’s boat was more comfortable. I truly felt that every seat had a good view. Zach himself was very engaging, answering my questions about our destination, Anan Bear Observatory, as well as insights on growing up and choosing to remain in Wrangell. He’s also an honorable person who refunded us on our 2020 aborted trip (Covid lockdown), even though it was non-refundable. His treatment of us then was the determining factor in us renewing our Wrangell trip in 2021. 100% recommend his company. See more..

Review long overdue - sorry POW - but well deserved, so here it is: I, and my group, cannot say enough good things about Katie and our experience with POW. We took part in a 5 day canoe/kayak trip on the island back in 8/21. The trip gave us the adventure, solitude, and beauty we were looking for, due in large part to the wonderful service, gear, and advice Katie provided. Without the high-end kayak and canoe, I doubt we would've made it to our cabin, never mind the back country lakes on the canoe route. Also, we found Katie to be a great person too! Glad we made POW our choice and would again...hope to sometime soon. See more..

    - The best bear tour!!

We booked last minute with Luke and we were so glad we did. Don't book through the cruise companies, they don't take you far, only up the road to the river with a bus full of people and charge you through the nose for it. Our tour was small and personal. Luke went above and beyond to find us some bears, he even extended the time we had booked to about 6 hours! We went out into the backcountry and off-roads, stopping at various scenic rivers as we went. Luke took us to the stunning Bear Paw Lake for a snack with his own smoked and maple syrup glazed salmon. We did in fact find lots of bear paws! Luke made the entire journey entertaining with funny stories and humour. Due to it being end of season the bears were scarce but right at the end of the tour we spotted one and it was a GREAT way to end the day. Thanks again Luke! -Phoenix and Sam See more..
