    We were in town the week before the Mt. Marathon Race and visited friends at Brownell Inn at the base of the mountain. During the week we met several people who were there training for the race by running the trail. It is said to be the toughest 5k on the planet. Seward celebrates the race every year when people from all over the world come to compete and enjoy being in such a glorious place and time.     This was my Alaska vacation 2003 May. Was just amazing, I went on the Petersburg Lake trail 3 days was just so nice. You do need to take your supplies with you and only take what you can carry. The peace and quiet its just an amazing spot to go. You do have to find a charter that will take you over to, State dock but fishing boats are going out you can normally catch a ride with them or you hire an actual boat. You hike up to Petersburg Lake where its just perfect, do you have to remember that you are hiking in bear country. See more..
