Simply one of the best saloon experiences of my life. The music was jumping, the people were dancing (from all walks/ages of life) and the staff worked double-time to serve the thirsty crowd with the most wonderful smiles. Another evening at the Fairview was spent simply listening in that old-saloon way. My wife and some friends of ours visited Ernie's Old Time Saloon in Sitka Alaska last week, and had a great time as we stepped back in history. The Saloon brings back memories of the old days, the way Bars, and Saloons, used to be. It was very refreshing to see the way Ernie's Saloon was decorated and laid out. Pete, the daytime Bartender was so friendly and nice as we asked him about the history of Ernie's Old Time Saloon. Owner Stan Filler has owned the Saloon for 50 years. I am visiting the oldest bar in each State. #33 for me. I came at a quiet time. A couple playing pool and a person at the bar. It is Cash only place. They do have food but it is prepared and microwaved. Friendly place. i did find that the date they had on the site I found this place was 2 years off. They had 1908, should be 1906. License on the wall. From the outside people I was told it can get a little crazy when the fisherman come in.See more..
