When It's Dark, I See the Lights! I relocated from Brazil to Alaska in 2001 and have been chasing and photographing Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) ever since. I never heard about the Northern Lights before I moved to Alaska. The first time I saw them it was love at first sight. That was it! From there on I knew what I wanted to do, I wanted to share the Auroras with the world and show them to everyone who doesn't have the opportunity to see the Northern lights. That's what I have been doing since. From long and cold nights photographing amazing auroras through the skies, and teaching northern lights photography workshops, to the summers explaining and showing the auroras to the ones that are not able to visit Alaska in the winters. I am a photographer in Alaska, living the dream life of many photographers. Many of my images were published by NASA, Space Weather Live, Washington Post, space.com, Nature Photographer Magazine, Society of Nature Photographers, just to name a few. See more..

    - Loved this place - the real deal!
Spent More than 3 hours Lessons & Workshops
So I travelled the Kenai Peninsula thinking I would find lots of these types of stores – real Alaskan residents making hand made things. We specifically included Homer, AK in our itinerary because we had expected to find this type of hand-crafted experience there. BUT where we found it in the Kenai was right here – right on the Highway near Soldotna. We only WISHED we knew they had classes before we visited. This is a great, great store. My husband and I spent quite a bit of time here perusing the incredible work of the 3 woodworkers. HIGHLY recommend a stop in this store. They have a website too: http://threeguysnowood.com/ Beautiful, beautiful stuff. We bought two incredible bowls on site and they were very carefully packaged and shipped to our home. We didn't want to risk taking them on our upcoming cruise and of course the plane ride home. See more..

Explore the boreal forest and create a souvenir of your time in the Copper River Valley. No artistic skill or experience is needed to participate on this sensory exploration. Join a local naturalist guide for a walk along local trails near the Copper River Princess Wilderness Lodge and explore the many faces of the boreal forest landscape and learn about wildflowers, trees, and other plants, and their traditional stories and uses. You will receive a sketchbook and art materials. Your small group will stop for quick sketches and a “soundscape” exercise which captures the feelings and sounds of the forest and river. Next, go indoors and complete a watercolor project depicting the Aspen forest, using simple techniques suitable for ages and levels of artistic experience. The finished painting and sketchbook become souvenirs of time spent in the boreal forest of Interior Alaska. See more..
