Three Guys No Wood, Alaska, United States

4.5 (9 reviews) Spent More than 3 hours Ranking #1 in Soldotna Lessons & Workshops

Loved this place - the real deal!

So I travelled the Kenai Peninsula thinking I would find lots of these types of stores – real Alaskan residents making hand made things. We specifically included Homer, AK in our itinerary because we had expected to find this type of hand-crafted experience there. BUT where we found it in the Kenai was right here – right on the Highway near Soldotna. We only WISHED we knew they had classes before we visited. This is a great, great store. My husband and I spent quite a bit of time here perusing the incredible work of the 3 woodworkers. HIGHLY recommend a stop in this store. They have a website too: http://threeguysnowood.com/ Beautiful, beautiful stuff. We bought two incredible bowls on site and they were very carefully packaged and shipped to our home. We didn't want to risk taking them on our upcoming cruise and of course the plane ride home.

    Better Than a Souvenir
We took the half day woodturning class. Paul was very patient with us as beginners and is safety conscious. They even took some pics and emailed them to us. Learned the basic concepts of woodturning, how to use some different tools, and (with the help of the instructor who smoothed out our goofs) came home with really nice looking bowls. We'd love to go back and learn more.

    Great stuff
If my sister and I had stumbled across this sooner we would have signed up for a class to take while the guys were fishing. I always try to find a locally made product from my travels and I was happy to find this place. The bowls are beautiful and each signed by the resident artisan. The ad that we saw for this place had said that the classes were on 2 specific days that didn't fit our plans, but it neglected to mention that there was a summer schedule so we could have taken a class. Oh well, we still got to peek in the shop, smell the wood, and watch a little turning... And buy a nice bowl to remember our trip, esp. Now that all the salmon is getting eaten up!
