Its really important to note that the weather is a huge constraint on this activity. My boyfriend and I booked the flightseeing tour with glacier landing months in advance with of course no idea the weather. We got extremely lucky being the day of our flightseeing tour, was the only day of our entire trip that had clear skies. The flight was amazing, pilot Phillip was so nice and informative. He even took some amazing photos of us in front of the plane. I get motion sickness pretty easy but this was not an issue for me. Before boarding the flight, I asked if I could sit up front and the pilot said yes saying "its kind of a 'whoever asks first' can sit in the front". The front seat is most definitely the best view but they navigate the plane in a way where everyone gets a chance to see everything. K2 made our experience super relaxing and stress free. We stayed right in Talkeetna so we just simply walked to K2 aviation and essentially walks on the plane. See more..

The tallest Mountain in North America has been on my bucket list for many years. Talkeetna Air Taxi allowed me to see it from every angle & it was breath taking. The pilot (Chase) was outstanding, pointing out terrain and land marks. The entire staff were very helpful, polite, knowledgeable. Our flightseeing was a memorable one with Kelly, along with one other company associate who came along, presumably because of our end of day, end of season adventure. Our tour was essentially private given these circumstances which is always helpful during COVID (though not promised at busier times of season and the day), and we did have good fortunes in near perfectly clear weather. Having done a Denali flightsee too, tough to pick a favorite between them, but this one had an incredible variety of landscape and things to see, with never a dull moment on the flight. Kelly was an effective tour guide and pilot, along with the associate who joined us, as they were incredibly knowledgeable and personable about the area, and Kelly showed confidence in serving as the pilot. The sights were incredible, and though an expensive activity overall, the 70 minute edition we chose was more than worth it for the traveler to Alaska.See more..

My wife and I came to Kodiak Island specifically to see the bears, and Kingfisher delivered beyond our greatest expectations! Kyle was an excellent pilot and guide, and we were fortunate to have a gentle day with warm weather. Kyle was able to navigate us through both the Eastern and Western sections of Kodiak Island, the second largest island in the United States. We took the 1/2 mile hike to the viewing area, and we saw more than 20 bears! Many of the bears were cubs, and they were having fun playing literally 30 feet away from us! We had our pilots / guides and rangers around us and never felt threatened as we watched from a grassy knoll above the salmon ladder and river leading into Frazier Lake. I’m a local to Valdez and my boyfriend and I went up in the heli with Pilot Casey for the first time today. We went to Valdez glacier, and it was awesome. You really can’t grasp how vastly beautiful this place is unless you see it in the air. Casey’s piloting was smooth as butter (I was worried about getting motion sick, it wasn’t a problem at all) and he gave the tour well, pointing out all the cool sites and searching for critters. The heli was super clean and we felt comfortable considering the current COVID protocols. We will be recommending VS Helicopters to all of our friends and family who come to visit, and will most likely be taking another tour with them in the near future. Jo was excellent in keeping touch with us, and updating us with weather conditions and pick up time, even several days ahead. Roland is such a friendly and informative guy, as well as an excellent pilot. We went to Fraser Lake near the south end of Kodiak, and had a nice air tour of the island along the way. We were so lucky when we were viewing the bears, that we didn't have any time limitations, and just comfortably watched as up to 14 bears came into the river and weir area to fish for salmon. On our way back, I jokingly told Roland that we hadn't seen any orcas during our time in the state, and he said they are only randomly seen. Just then, as we flew by Whale Island, we found a pod of orcas, and he landed the plane on the water; then they were surfacing near us! This was fantastic and afforded excellent photos and close experience. After we took off again, we flew over two pairs of mother and baby humpbacks. What an awesome day!See more..

We had such an amazing experience with Alaska West Air! We had a family of 5, none of which are avid fishers . We did a day tour - that including salmon fishing. The flight and the afternoon fishing was more than we could hope for. Our guide, Nick, was kind and excellent at helping us understand the area and the fishing. The flight over and back and what you see from a sea plane was worth the cost alone! As a bonus, we saw brown and black bears with our guide ensuring safety above all else. You can tell that Alaska West had built a great culture with their employees and that seems to have created something truly magical. We were supposed to drive to Nabesna to spend five days in the back country but the road was washed out. We contacted Copper Valley Air last-minute and were able to charter a flight to Nabesna and it saved our trip! From the first phone call and including the dozen or so that followed, every single person we interacted with was just fantastic. We had a lot of logistical issues and they kept in contact with our pilot in Nabesna to make sure (to the best of anyone's ability given the dicey weather!) that the trip would work. We departed early getting there, and were picked up earlier than scheduled getting back. Cannot wait to go back and hire them again to get flown out to some of their favorite spots. I just want to give the biggest thumbs up to Jared, Julian and the entire Golden Eagle team. I used their services to visit the 5 National Park Service sites up in that neck of the woods in July, 2022. Quite simply they were great. These parks and monuments are a bit out of the way, and they are magical. Golden Eagle has extensive knowledge on what you can see there, how to see it, how to get to it, and they do it safely with a great deal of skill. Again -- there's not really a big enough font to represent how good these folks are; It was a great time and I would recommend Golden Eagle in a heartbeat. A great way to see some Glaciers and the remote area between Anchorage and Seward by float plane. This is a family run operation that is right off the main highway on the way to Seward. It does varying lengths of flights over the area, taking off from a glacier fed lake. It's a true Alaska bush plane feeling adventure. Great pilot and owner gave us an awesome ride/tour. It's also a flight school, so there is no shortage of float planes taking off, flying around, and landing. The perfect experience on the way to Seward from Anchorage.See more..
I cannot recommend more highly the experience of flying to the remote national parks and preserves in Alaska with Arctic Backcountry! We visited the Gates of the Arctic National Park, Noatak National Preserve, Bering Land Bridge National Preserve, and Cape Krusenstern, Kobuk Valley National Park with Jared, a pilot who really knew the region---down to where a musk ox family was frequently seen. Do not let the remoteness of the area keep you from this trip. Alaskan Air---on time and friendly--can deliver you right to Kotzebue. This is the trip that should be in your bucket list! Professional airline jet pilot and ex instructor here. Verne has got an absolutely excellent outfit here. He was able to provide a short introductory float plane flight for myself whilst my travel party were whisked away on a great scenic flight. His instructors are professional, knowledgeable, friendly and all business. The aircraft are well kept just like the rest of the facilities. We were provided with exactly what we requested. My instructor knew exactly where to go for the weather to get the most flying for my $. Having been on both sides of both small fans large flying schools and airlines, I can highly recommend Verne and AFR. For anyone who is new to general aviation (aka little planes) they are limited by weather more so than large aircraft, so we had great results by calling ahead and discussing our requirements! If you are lucky you will be going on a day when clouds don't obsure the Denali peak. This happens about 20% of the time. Unfortunately we were on the 80% days with clouds. We still had a great flight.See more..
