Beyond Your Wildest Hopes and Expectations

I cannot recommend more highly the experience of flying to the remote national parks and preserves in Alaska with Arctic Backcountry! We visited the Gates of the Arctic National Park, Noatak National Preserve, Bering Land Bridge National Preserve, and Cape Krusenstern, Kobuk Valley National Park with Jared, a pilot who really knew the region---down to where a musk ox family was frequently seen. Do not let the remoteness of the area keep you from this trip. Alaskan Air---on time and friendly--can deliver you right to Kotzebue. This is the trip that should be in your bucket list! This is the flying service to use!

Visit two parks in one amazing flight
It is not easy to visit both national parks above the arctic circle but Eric will fly you there. The flight out was low and scenic. Eric pointed out a couple of bear but mainly we were on our own to take in the beauty. We landed on a GIANT sand dune in Kobuk Valley. It blows Jockey's Ridge and Great Sand Dunes away. Ever take off from a sand dune? It is cool. We then flew through the mountains - so close you feel you could touch them. Then we followed a lovely blue sparkling river, a couple of turns, and landed in the river bed. WOW! I now understand river rocks. They are beautiful. The water is fresh and clear. We loved our time in that beautiful valley surrounded by mountains. And yes, you can take off from a bed of river rocks. Pretty trip home. Great day. Be ready for an adventure.

    Eric is the best!
Three of us chartered Eric recently to drop us off/pick us up for an arctic coastal camping trip. Eric has lived and flown in Kotzebue for more than 20 years and knows this area like the back of his hand. He not only has superb flying skills, but is also a great outdoorsman and a keen observer of wildlife. If it's out there, he can spot it. And on top of all that, he is personable and a good storyteller! I have flown with Eric on several occasions in northwest Alaska, and have only had great experiences. He has many excellent suggestions for floating, hiking, sightseeing, or camping trips. You will not be disappointed. He recently started his own flying service, and I heartily recommend this family-owned business.
