We took an 8 hrs tour with Alaska Tour & Travel from Anchorage. We moved by bus, train and boat. The excursion was well organized, we saw plenty of wildlife (sea lions, seals, birds) nature (forests, lakes) and glaciers. Better go by bus and return by Alaska Express, across the hole peninsula! The boat was moved very close to the –ice covered- land, so we could a lot of pictures. Got close up with several of large glaciers and we experienced to watch -live- an ice melting (sounds like earthquake)! Amazing experience, do not miss it! Make sure that you will wear warm clothes and have a raincoat!See more..
5.0MICA Guides(1.636 reviews) - Best activity we did in Alaska Thursday: 7:00 AM - 9:00 PM Helicopter Tours • Adrenaline & Extreme Tours • Zipline & Aerial Adventure Parks • Climbing Tours • Hiking & Camping Tours
We did glacier cruises, water rafting, hiking, bus tours, and glacier trekking in Alaska, and I want to say glacier trekking is the best. We got to step on the glacier, taste the ice, and drink the glacier water. We are a group of 14 people with young children and teens. Our guides, Kandel and Taylor, were very patient with us from the beginning to the end. They also provided educational information that the kids felt they were fascinating. We highly recommend MICA guides if you want something fun to do in Alaska. See more..
The highlight of the trip was exploring the Glacier Bay for 9 hours. Our Alaska cruise sails to the Inside Passage of a series of waterways formed by glaciers. It’s a beautiful day visiting the national park to see gigantic snow cap mountains and huge glaciers. It’s wonderful to see bright blue icebergs rising out of the water. I was surprised to see the Margerie Glacier’s signature crack and pieces fall off across the waves. I was amazed by this clean, natural preserved national park. The Glacier Bay Park Rangers went onboard early morning. They spend the day aboard to answer questions, explain the scenery as the ship explore the Glacier Bay to appreciate the wonders of the national park. At the same time, the Park Rangers enforce the laws to the safety, cleanliness of the national park and assist to prevent disaster for guests. The full day tour at the bay is well worth it. Both the glaciers and the surrounding scenery are spectacular. The entire place was stunningly gorgeous.See more..
4.0Icy Strait Point(1.321 reviews) - Small cruise ship stop with good scenery but limited and expensive activities Thursday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Cultural Tours • 4WD, ATV & Off-Road Tours • Historical & Heritage Tours • Zipline & Aerial Adventure Parks
Visited from our cruise ship. Very small place with lovely scenery but limited activities. IMO your best bet is to hike the short nature trails and take the cable car up the mountain for more hiking and scenic views. Would have loved to have done the seated zip line but not at 170 USD for one ride! We had prebooked the bear watch to the river combined with the whale watch and at around 250 USD each it wasn't worth it. We didn't see any bears and found out later that sightings here are rare. The whale watch was OK but we only saw a couple. There is much better whale watching at Juneau and Seward.See more..
4.0Pioneer Park(1.262 reviews) - Worth to see Amusement & Theme Parks

This state park displays 14 totem poles from the Tlingit and Haida tribes. The park is exceptionally scenic as the well maintained path meanders through the woods and opens out to the water. An example of a tribal house is located at the waters edge. Admission is only $5 pp (well worth it) and includes an interpretive guide regarding the meaning of the poles and where they were from. The park is approximately 10 miles from downtown Ketchikan and is easily reached by the Silver Line public bus. Highly recommend a visit ( plan about an hour),See more..
5.0Denali Zipline Tours(1.005 reviews) - Great Time for First Time Zip Liners Thursday: 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM Zipline & Aerial Adventure Parks

While vacationing in Sitka on May 26, 2022, my wife and I visited the Sitka National Historic Park. There is no admission fee. The park was established to commemorate the 1804 Battle of Sitka between Russians and Tlingit's. A small museum contains a theatre with a 12 minute video about the Russian-Tlingit conflict. For me the reason to visit the park is to walk the trails through the rainforest. Scattered along the trails are totem poles. We visited on a beautiful, sunny day and just took a nice, relaxing stroll through the forest.See more..

5.0Icy Strait Point ZipRider(453 reviews) - AMAZING thrill ride Thursday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Zipline & Aerial Adventure Parks
This was an AMAZING adventure! The trip in the gondola up the mountain can be a lil nerve wrecking because you realize just how high you have to go up the mountain. But the staff is very well trained and reassuring. Once I was strapped in, and the gate opens, you literally shoot out the gate & move very fast! My head scarf nearly blew away. My heart raced & it was initially very fast, but then toward the middle I got used to it & enjoyed the amazing view. It was awesome and I recommend it for all thrill seekers!See more..
Enjoyed walking around looking and learning about the various totem poles. They each have a story to tell and it’s fun to imagine what the particular person was like. Lots of symbolism, colors, and very detailed carvings. Would love to return and take more family.See more..

We had a beautiful evening walking along the waterfront, all the way from the Iditarod zero mile marker to the small boat harbor. There are tent and RV sites along the way, and since we visited during COVID, it wasn't crowded. There are also interesting little things to see, such as a Japanese pavilion, Iditarod statues, and a flower garden.See more..

4.5Inupiat Heritage Center(127 reviews) - Amazing information and exhibits. Also has a great gift shop! Thursday: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Parks
The staff was super friendly and excited to have us there. The whaling exhibit answered every question we had about the hunting process. This museum is very well put together and had many interesting items and information on how the natives in the area have been whaling over the history of their time in the north slope. Cannot miss stop while in town!See more..
5.0Denali State Park(92 reviews) - K'esugi Ken Campground - outstanding Spent 1-2 hours State Parks • Nature & Wildlife Areas
Denali State Park - K'esugi Ken Campground - outstanding campground. We rented a RV space (with electric, fire pit, picnic table, but no water or dump). The campground was beautiful, spacious, and heavily wooded. Great fire pit with metal grate for cooking. Well maintained. Would highly recommend staying here on the way in or out of Denali National Park. It was just $28 plus $2 fee for booking online (ReserveAmerica.com).See more..
4.0Hallo Bay Lodge Bear VIewing(87 reviews) - Disappointment with Hallo Bay tour company in Homer National Parks
We offer Half Day and Overnight Bear and Wildlife Viewing Trips out to Katmai National Park from May through September. We have been guiding trips to Katmai for 26 years, and we have a perfect safety record with our experience with the bears. Hallo Bay Bear Camp is a fully sustainable wilderness camp designed to be a trend setting model of responsibility and low impact to this environment. Our guests observe the bears in their natural habitat where there are no viewing platforms or man-made trails. We limit our groups in size because it is our experience that small groups are much less impacting than large groups of people on any wilderness outing. The smaller group size intimidates wildlife less and leaves a much less impacting footprint on the habitat.See more..
4.0Talkeetna Riverfront Park(66 reviews) - Lots of activity Thursday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Spent 1-2 hours State Parks
I love sitting on a rock on the berm of the river. We were able to see the river in a lower state and as the rains came the river rose. I was able to see the salmon running up along side the banks of the river. I was able to watch people fishing and observe how salmon fishing is a little different than fishing other kinds of fish. It was fun to people watch at all different times of day. We were in Talkeetna for a week and were busy everyday. I recommend a week stay minimal to really get into the life here.See more..
A relative who lives near Sutton recommended we visit here for beautiful views of the glacier, and it was great! The glacier view trail is an easy, one-mile loop that provides excellent views of the glacier and surrounding area. The trail not only has specific overlooks for viewing, but it also has placards/signage along the route that provide educational information about glacial formation and the area in general. It was very rainy when we visited, but the views were still breathtaking. Definitely worth a stop!See more..
Wow! This is such a beautiful location. The park is well maintained, with clean bathrooms, benches to rest on, a loop of campsites, clearly marked trails, sturdy bridges, etc. The Lunch Falls Loop is an easy hike (.5 miles) through the rainforest. You can access the beach, and you definitely should! It was breathtaking. You can also take the Lunch Creek Trail which is longer (4.8 miles one way) and more difficult but from the portion of it we hiked, very beautiful and worth the effort.See more..

4.5Two Lakes Park(43 reviews) - Hidden gem, beautiful mile-long loop hike in center of Seward Bodies of Water • Parks • Hiking Trails
This was such a nice surprise during our visit to Seward. The Two Lakes hike is a loop trail which goes around 2 lakes and offers views of 2 waterfalls. The trail is well defined, but has many tree roots and rocks to navigate. The elevation change is minimal and easily managed by my 61-year-old knees. The trail winds through a lush forest which is strewn with occasional intriguing artifacts - perhaps from the 1964 tsunami? There are 2 parking areas; one at the north end and one at the south end, each with picnic tables overlooking the lake (but with no restrooms). This is a great activity for families or adults with a bit of time to enjoy being outdoors in Seward. Highly recommend.See more..

5.0Viking Travel, Inc.(35 reviews) - Took our dream and made it happen! Thursday: 5:00 AM - 5:00 PM Multi-day Tours • National Parks • Ferries • Nature & Wildlife Tours • Day Trips
Viking Travel and agent Fini gave us a wonderful experience. We did not want to cruise Alaska's Inside Passage and found the Marine Highway ferry system very complicated to string together our destinations. We wanted to spend more time in the small towns and seeing wildlife instead of on the cruise boat. Fini took our destinations and created an efficient itineary to visit 5 stops. She came up with fanscinating side trips which we were not aware of within our itinery. We still had much time to explore on our own: parks, museums and hiking. The accommodations had local flavor and great location. Saw Juneau, Sitka, Glacier Bay, Skagway and Haines. No gliches! Well done.See more..
4.5City Park of Ketchikan(35 reviews) - Walk along Ketchikan Creek to city park to see salmon Parks
Since my hubby and I visited Ketchikan as one of our cruise ship ports and during salmon season we walked along Ketchikan Creek to see the salmon by the thousands! Find Park Street and walk along the creek where you will find deep holes, small waterfalls under the street bridge (where salmon are jumping up the falls), and continue along Park Street until you come to the city park. We took our time so we could soak in the sounds of the water, take lots of pictures with salmon, watch a couple fishing for salmon, and just meander in the quiet back streets of Ketchikan. This is a free ship excursion (except we saw many tour groups stop here for quick photos).See more..

5.0Anchor River State Recreation Area(28 reviews) - Great stop for a beach walk and eagle viewing Spent 2-3 hours State Parks • Beaches • Nature & Wildlife Areas
On our way to 'North America's most westerly highway point' we discovered this great spot. Drive all the way to the end of Anchor River Road. There you'll find a small parking lot (near the boat launch) and you have easy access to the beach. When you go for a beach walk, be sure to check the tide! It's a very good place to watch eagles (on the beach and in the trees). Across Cook Inlet you can see three volcanoes: Mount Augustine, Mount Iliamna, and Mount Redoubt. 5.0Chilkat State Park(22 reviews) - Great views! Spent 2-3 hours State Parks
Getting there required going over a gravel road full of very deep potholes then going down a very steep hill with sharp switch back turns. Twice as bad coming back out. Use 4 wheel drive (if you have it ) to make the climb easier through all the large ruts. The view of rainbow glacier was worth it! Be sure to go in the morning so the sun is on the glacier for great pictures. See more..
4.5Muklukland(20 reviews) - What fun! Amusement & Theme Parks
What a great stop in a long highway! An disjointed collection of fun, nostalgia and information. From MASH 4077 tent to doll collections to heavy equipment to Santa’s rocket to skee ball. Many laughs and tidbits of info about Alaska. Don’t miss the outhouse collection. Most of all the owner, Beth, is a treat. Genuine and generous, we left with smiles on our faces and a baggie full of penny candy.See more..

4.0Mollie Walsh Park(18 reviews) - Great spot to take the kids with a little history for the Adults Parks
Just a short walk from the cruise port and to the right there we found this amazing play ground that the kids loved! There was also public washrooms right beside it. It is named after Mollie Walsh. Mollie was a resourceful and independent young woman with a wanderlust and a love of frontiers. In 1890, when she was 18, she left home for Montana. When she heard about they struck gold in the Klondike she packed her bags and headed to Skagway. She became popular both as a waitress. This courageous Lady ran a grub tent near Log Cabin during the Gold Rush of 1897-1898. She fed and lodged the wildest gold-crazed men.See more..
5.0Pack Creek(18 reviews) - FANTASTIC! Spent More than 3 hours National Parks • Nature & Wildlife Areas
Worth every penny even tho the initial price tag can be a bit jolting. Flew by seaplane to Admiralty Island - perfect weather conditions. Landed on the beach and 2 bears were already there clamming along the shore. In total we saw 5 bears and one whale swimming out in the distance. In total we were out for 6 hrs. Food was provided and our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. The flight over was very enjoyable too with views unparalleled in beauty and splendour. We were very well looked after by the tour operators.See more..

5.0Government Peak Recreation Area(15 reviews) - Amazing and breathtaking scenery and area Spent More than 3 hours State Parks
Did I say it was "Amazing and breathtaking scenery and area". A 25 minute drive from Palmer brings you to the foot of 2 absolutely naturally wonderful areas to drive, see, absorb and photograph. The 2 areas are Government peak and Hatcher's pass. Thoroughly recommend this area to visit. You will need your own transport, not sure if there is public transport or tour guides/excursions. 5.0North End Park(10 reviews) - Love the North End Trail Parks
We visited Kodiak during COVID and most museums, fisheries were closed. So, we opted to hike the North End Trail here. It's just across the bridge from main Kodiak Island. We walked there from the Best Western. It was beautiful - such a great surprise! There wasn't a good map, so I would suggest you download a map from online so you can guide yourself. During hike, you go down a steep set of stairs down to an inlet that is awesome - you may want to go at low tide. Unless you have a trail map, you don't realize that the trail continues on the other side and you can hike out to a point on top of a cliff that overlooks the water where you can watch seaplanes taking off and landing. It's beautiful scenery. Rather easy hike.See more..
This place is a hidden gem. We only had time to walk the shorter Glacier View Trail, but it was a very pleasant outing with fireweed lining the trails and views of the glaciers across the bay. There were only a few other visitors so we had the place pretty much to ourselves. Very enjoyable!See more..
5.0Katmai National Park And Preserve(8 reviews) - Experience of a lifetime National Parks When I was 8 years old I wrote a paper on visiting the bears. 63 years later I was able to do so. We were able to view the bears at Brooks Creek falls for over an hour, and downstream for several hours. It was so fun to see bears fishing in their habitat, without human interference. We also saw that each bear had his own fishing technique; diving for fish, waiting at the top of the falls and catching fish on the fly, or waiting for fish to miss the jump, and catching them before they recovered! I have been to numerous national parks. This is by far the best of any of them!See more..
