    Native Dance and culture
This was an optional excursion from the cruise ship. A bus picked us up at the cruise ship dock and drove us out to the Village. First we were seated in a building and given information on the history etc. of the Tlingit people. Then we walked to the clan house where we enjoyed a traditional Tlingit dance with the performers all dressed in "costume". After that we walked to the workshop where you could see artisans actually carving a huge totem pole. Lastly, of course, was the gift shop. It was very interesting few hours and worth it to connect to the indigenous people.

Took the Local $2.00 (each way per person) Bus to Saxman Native Village
In 2009 we did Totem Bight State Historical Park & Potlatch Park on the same $2.00 local bus. Saxman Native Village was $5.00 per person, they gave you a self-guided brochure of all of the totems with descriptions. Some were damaged and missing parts, the clan house was not open - so we couldn't go in.. No one was in the carving building to answer questions. Definitely would recommend Totem Bight State Historical Park & Potlatch Park on the North bus route instead.
