We did glacier cruises, water rafting, hiking, bus tours, and glacier trekking in Alaska, and I want to say glacier trekking is the best. We got to step on the glacier, taste the ice, and drink the glacier water. We are a group of 14 people with young children and teens. Our guides, Kandel and Taylor, were very patient with us from the beginning to the end. They also provided educational information that the kids felt they were fascinating. I’m a local to Valdez and my boyfriend and I went up in the heli with Pilot Casey for the first time today. We went to Valdez glacier, and it was awesome. You really can’t grasp how vastly beautiful this place is unless you see it in the air. Casey’s piloting was smooth as butter (I was worried about getting motion sick, it wasn’t a problem at all) and he gave the tour well, pointing out all the cool sites and searching for critters. The heli was super clean and we felt comfortable considering the current COVID protocols. We will be recommending VS Helicopters to all of our friends and family who come to visit, and will most likely be taking another tour with them in the near future. Just go. If it's on your bucket list, do it. The experience was stunning, from start to finish. Kari and Njord have an incredible team - Jeff in the Lodge, Jimmy, our guide, the sweet young ladies that work in the dining room and Housekeeping - all just amazing. The food was beyond good - fueled us up before big days of skiing. Husband has already determined that we are going back. And, I'm not mad about that.See more..

We took the “Bucket List “ tour in June 2022. We’ve flown over and landed on other glaciers in recent years, but this trip over and onto the Matanuska glacier demonstrated just how unique this glacier is. The highlight was landing and disembarking along the edge of a small lake that exists atop the glacier on top of 400 feet of ice. Mark, our pilot and owner of Sheep Mountain Lodge, gave us a great ride, provided expert commentary, and was focused on ensuring we had a great time.See more..

We took a helicopter tour with Matanuska Glacier Helicopters and had a wonderful time. First, a quick flight up to the glacier where we landed for a fantastic hike with our guide. There was nothing like being way up on the glacier, just us, listening to nothing but the glacier! Hiking around, seeing the features, tasting the glacial waters... it was amazing. Then we were picked up by the copter and treated to a longer flight over the glacier and the surrounding area. Indescribably beautiful. The experience was a once in a lifetime adventure.See more..
