Best Way to Experience the Real Alaska

We were able to experience Alaska in the best possible way in July 2022. Mike was our guide, and he did an outstanding job. It was the best possible way to see and tour Alaska. It was a small group so we didn't have to fight the crowds when it came to stopping for a bathroom break or waiting in line at a restaurant like those who were in a cruise group. And the best part was we could just sit back and relax while absorbing all of the magnificent scenery. It was really cool to be able to stop at a little rest stop or scenic area to watch the salmon jump or view another glacier. All of these experiences were breath-taking and offered us priceless memories. I have shared our Alaskan trip with anyone and everyone who asked along with our pictures. I highly recommend Alaskan Tour Guides as the best way to truly see and experience Alaska.

Great tour with a great tour company
Great tour company and great tour! It's a family owned company that takes only small groups. They don't skimp on the arrangements and pack a great deal into a week, which isn't easy to do in a place as huge and wild as Alaska. IWe were booked at lovely hotels, usually on water or with scenic views. The itinerary included many interesting locations with a variety of unique and exciting activities, such as dog mushing; the domed train ride from Denali; a day long cruise on the ocean to observe the wildlife, through the Kenai peninsula; observing the salmon spawing and jumping up waterfalls; and the highlight for me: a float plane ride that landed on a glacier, with a head-on view of Denali. Most of these activities were included in the tour price, though the plane ride was extra. Additional options for add on activities were also available. I felt very privileged to have Bob as a tour guide. I'm sure all the tour guides are great, based on reviews, but Bob was the best! Since he's the owner of the company and a 40 year resident of Alaska, we were treated to his wealth of knowledge about Alaska's history, politics, economy and much more, as well as some extra stops, throughout the tour. Loved his sense of humor also. Alaska is gorgeous and I felt like we saw the best of it, given the short time we had. In retrospect, 1 week wasn't quite enough time to see Alaska, though it was a fun and excitement-packed week. My advice is to visit for as long as you can, there's so much to see!

    Incredible and professional
This was an incredible trip with a group of people that did not all know each other. By the time the trip was over we had become very good friends and are planning an Iditarod party on March 1st. There was time spent in the travel coach between stops (nothing is close in Alaska), but our guide Dowie made it interesting by adding facts and stories about places along the way. Our group had some challenges ( several had medical issues and tested positive for Covid) but Dowie handled everything in stride. I would recommend Alaskan Tour Guides to anyone who is interested in touring Alaska with a small group and wanting to talk with the local people to hear their stories. Great job Dowie & Alaskan Tour Guides!
