As Good as it Gets

My favorite part was truly the entire experience! Walking on Root Glacier was something that will stand out in my memories for the rest of my life! The weather was difficult, 40 degrees with a hard frigid driving rain but our guide expertly kept us safe and having tons of fun on the ice. I felt like the pace was perfect. I also enjoyed listening to her narration and actually understanding the glacier rather than just looking at the glacier! My guide even gave me a ride back to McCarthy when the tour was over! She didn’t have to do that! It was above and beyond her duties and I am grateful for her actions!! Overall, a splendid experience. I have been on tours all over the world. I have also been to 60 of the 63 US National Parks. This experience goes right to the very top in all of my life! Thank you!

    Take me back!!!!!
The highlight of our time in Alaska was spent with KWG! They went above and beyond to ensure we had every detail taken care of when we were in their care for 4 days and each of our travel days on either end of our trip with them. Jill was a wonderful guide who picked up on our group dynamics right away and jumped right in to make us feel like a big old family out there. We felt safe at all times with her knowledge and experience, the gear we borrowed saved us space in our packs and worked great, and the flexible itinerary helped us maximize the weather windows. Ice climbing, pack rafting, exploring in the backcountry, games in camp, meals together, everything was AWESOME.

    Outstanding adventure in safe hands
We are a family of three with an 11 year old and sent out on the half day glacier hike with KWG. In a beautiful sunny day. First of all we set out in an easy hike with amazing views before heading down to the glacier. Crampons on and off the walk ) and picnic on the glacier. Just amazing experience. There were obviously other people around but definitely not crowds and we never felt like we were in the middle of a big tourist machine. We had plenty of time on the glacier and were not rushed. The hike back up the hill to get back to the path was quite strenuous and waking on the uneven ice was also quite tiring so I would definitely say you need decent mobility and average fitness but you don’t need to be a sportsperson. We were well looked after and our guide was fun and friendly. My walking boots literally and unexpectedly collapsed on the hike back and our guide was so patient, prepared and good humoured at helping me duct tape the soles back on as we limped my shoes back to Kennicott. That is when you realise you are in good hands!
