Go to Cave Point during turbulent weather!
We went to Cave Point the day after an overnight storm and the day we went had high winds. Turns out this is the BEST time to go! The turbulent waters and high winds made for a SPECTACULAR show of waves crashing into the rocks! We eperienced several sprays that went well over our heads and even soaked us a few times. It was a wonderful experience and one of the highlights of our stay in Door County.

    Unique but crowded location
We ended up here only because we missed the entrance to the State Park. We were suprised by how busy this location is. Come to find out the only way into the State park is to purchase an annual pass online. This explains why so many people were coming to this park. Based on the number of people walking down the trail with towels I suspect they head to the state park after parking here. I was a little suprised by how busy this park was. The road was almost blocked due to all the people parking along an already narrow road. The sites were cool as you get to see and hear caves that have been created by the waves of the lake. These are fairly famous caves. Overall and to sum it all up, sitting and listening to the waves our son looks at us and says "this is the most peaceful sound". It is funny that the waves are creating all kinds of chaos and he found peace in it.
